There are about 9745 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Israel. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The FORESEE HOME is intended for the early detection of central and paracentral irregularities (abnormalities) in the visual field, most commonly associated with AMD. However, the device has ability to detect the development of the lesion post treatment and therefore to asses in determination of the next treatment.
BKT-140 drug substance is a highly selective chemokine receptor (CXCR4) antagonist, which is developed by Biokine as a novel therapy for Multiple Myeloma (MM, a type of blood cancer). The unique combination of activities of BKT140, i.e., the induction of the exit of blood cells such as stem cells and mature cells from the bone marrow to the peripheral blood, coupled with specific induction of MM cell death by BKT-140, represents a novel therapeutic strategy against MM.
This is a phase I/II, randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled escalating double-dose study of the safety and priming potential of an intramuscular Influenza vaccine (Multimeric-001) injected to elderly volunteers.
Upper limb paralysis following stroke is a very common problem. Only 30% of stroke patients who suffer from upper limb paresis experience a full recovery of function. There is a need for the development of more efficient rehabilitation methods for the improvement of the paralysed upper limb function. It has been shown that the use of mirror therapy after a stroke induces the activation of motor, sensory and associative regions in the affected hemisphere and is associated with an improvement in the function of the affected limb. Mirror therapy is a treatment modality in which the affected arm is hidden from the patient's sight; the patient is instructed to watch the reflection of his healthy hand on a mirror while he performs movements with his healthy hand and tries to move simultaneously his affected hand. This induces the illusion that his affected hand moves well. It has also been shown that applying vibration to a muscle tendon at frequencies between 50-100 Hz induces an illusion of elongation of the vibrated muscle, if visual feedback is prevented. For instance, vibrating the triceps will induce a strong illusion of elbow flexion. In the present study the investigators will couple the use of a mirror with the application of vibration to tendons, in order to obtain a multisensorial and strong illusion of movement in the paralyzed limb. The study hypothesis is that the administration of mirror therapy together with vibration will induce the activation of multiple motor, sensory and associative areas in the affected brain hemisphere, resulting in improvement of the affected upper limb function, compared to the administration of mirror therapy alone or sham therapy.
The study is designed to compare the apnea event recognition capability of the Capnostream 20 with investigational software to polysomnograph recordings scored by a trained analyst. The study will compare the apnea index score (AI) calculated by the Capnostream 20 algorithm based on capnography to that calculated by a trained analyst evaluating polysomnograph recordings. To this aim, subjects will be connected to EMBLA N7000 Polysomnograph, and to the Capnostream 20, in order to monitor CO2 and SpO2 during routine overnight sleep studies. The Capnostream, using both its USB Data Port and Analog output port will simultaneously provide the monitored data both to a USB flash memory device and Polysomnograph for storage for future analysis. The data collected by the Polysomnograph including the Capnostream data will be analyzed by a trained expert for evaluation of apnea events obtained from both sources. In parallel, the Capnostream data as collected with the USB flash memory, will be downloaded onto a PC, and using the Oridion software algorithm designed for evaluating the data (to be implemented in the monitor when validated), the Apnea Index and Oxygen Desaturation Index will be calculated. The results of the Apnea Index scores calculated from the Polysomnograph and from the DUT will be compared. Based on the results, the study will then evaluate the ability of the Capnograph/Pulse-Oximeter as a tool for screening and assisting in the diagnosis of patients with obstructive sleep-apnea in the hospital environment, where it is being used as a ventilation monitor based on the demonstration of a high correlation with the gold standard in the sleep lab.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether addition of AS101 to the standard chemotherapy regimen is effective in the treatment of newly diagnosed elderly (≥60) AML patients and AML transformed myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) patients.
Objective of the study: to obtain new data on the dynamics of the labor process, cervix dilatation and head station on the labor process and to develop a new progress indices. Background: the best method used today to supervise the labor process is to follow cervix dilatation and head station. Today, the physician or the midwife use manual examination to estimate cervix dilatation and head station. This examination is perform many times in a normal labor process, and even more if there is any delay. The information from these examinations is inaccurate and non-continuous. In case of delay in the labor process, the delay will diagnosed late, because the frequency of the manual examination is about once an hour. With the assistance of the BirthTrack device we can get continuous data on the labor process and get indices to estimate the labor process progress without the use of vaginal (manual) examination. 40 women in an active labor will take part in the study. Method: by connecting sensors to the woman abdomen, to the cervix and to the baby head we follow the cervix dilatation and the fetus head station.
Stem cell and and heart transplant patients will receive pandemic H1N1 influenza vaccination according to the clinical guidelines. In these patients the investigators will measure the specific antibody production.
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and clinical activity of the experimental drug EMD 525797 (study drug), a monoclonal antibody targeting α v integrins, in combination with irinotecan and cetuximab in K-ras wildtype metastatic colorectal cancer patients.
SWL is widely used in the treatment of patients with renal and ureteral calculi. Several factors determine the success of extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (SWL) for kidney stones: stone size, stone location within the collecting system, stone type, and the SWL machine used. Moreover, in some cases it is very difficult to focus on the stone because of its movement as a results of breathing. In order to prevent stone movement we want to use a bronchial blocker, processing a selective ventilation of the opposite side of stone location.
