Safety Study of Stem Cells Treatment in Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) can be regarded as one of the "epidemics" of the western world. DM contributes to severe morbidity and mortality due to damage in the target organs (neuropathy, vasculopathy, nephropathy, retinopathy). It affects the quality of life of the patients because of increased rate of blindness, IHD, stroke, end stage renal failure, hemodialysis and lower limb amputations (LLA).The Diabetic Foot (DF) is defined as destruction or infection of tissue/s in the foot of diabetic patients due to neurological damage and / or different levels of Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD). Diabetic foot complications are the most common cause of lower extremity amputations in the industrialized world. The lifetime occurence of Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU) is 20% in diabetic patients. Between 15% - 25% of the foot ulcers will lead to lower limb amputations. It has been shown that Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) could be an effective therapy for many diseases including acute respiratory distress syndrome, spinal cord injury, liver injury and critical limb ischemia. Stem cells can be obtained from either the patient (autologous) or non-related healthy donors (allogeneic). The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of cultured Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (BM-MSCs) from allogeneic donors for treatment of chronic leg wounds of diabetic patients.

The investigators hypothesize that Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) infection may influence the population of lung immature myeloid cells and dendritic cells in a way that will impair their ability to invoke an effective immune response and lead to prolonged inflammation, angiogenesis and scarring. This may lead in turn to disturbed lung function. Our aim is to determine the presence and phenotype of immature myeloid cells present in respiratory secretions of children with RSV bronchiolitis as compared to non-RSV bronchiolitis and healthy controls.

This is an open study.approximately 20 patients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (in case patient is under drug treatment, treatment should be stable within the prior 4 weeks before study entry).Starting from the third day, subjects would undergo rTMS (repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) for five days a week, for four weeks, and will be clinically evaluated in order to monitor for improvement. The investigators anticipate a significant reduction in symptoms severity at the end of the treatment compared to study entry.

The Assessment and Treatment of Balance Impairment Using Virtual Reality (VR) in Panic Disorder Patients

Hypotheses The investigators hypothesize that among individuals who suffer from panic disorder there is higher incidence of co-morbid balance impairment than in the healthy population. The investigators hypothesize that the treatment of panic disorder, through the treatment of co-morbid balance impairment using virtual reality (VR) exposure therapy environment, is more effective than the exposure to still pictures from the same scene in VR without balance challenge or comparing to standard cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for the treatment of panic disorder. Rationale This research relies on previous studies, which have shown mutuality between anxiety and balance impairment, even if only sub-clinical. The VR-based training environment enables multi-sensorial stimulus in a dynamic interactively changing setting. With the addition of a cognitive task (dual task distracting the fear), the investigators can add cognitive load and therefore challenge the control of balance even more. Individuals who suffer from balance impairment avoid their exposure to many balance-challenging situations - a fact that may increase their anxiety. The investigators assume that a considerable number of PD individuals also experience balance control impairments - mostly subclinical ones. Moreover, balance impairment accompanies other psychiatric disorders, though not enough literature exists on the subject.

Identifying Saliva Markers of Patients With Stomach, Colorectal (Including Pre-cancer Polyp) and Pancreatic Cancers

Colorectal cancers account for 783,000 new cases and cause 437,000 deaths per year across the world. Diagnosis in the early stages improves survival rates. Up to now, these cancers are mostly diagnosed only at later stages of the disease's course through histoimmune staining and molecular biology processes on the tissues biopsied from the gastrointestinal system under invasive diagnostic procedures of colonoscopy. Oral fluid presents a large protein complexity and has been recently used as a diagnostic biofluid for oral, as well as systematic diseases. Using oral fluid as a bio-marker for the colorectal cancer can be advantageous as it contains gastrointestinal fluids, in addition to bacteria and bacteria lysate, which can also serve as a bio-markers' source for colorectal cancers. Proteomic technologies provide the tools needed to discover and identify disease-associated biomarkers. The aim of the present study is to identify salivary bio-markers in patients suffering from colorectal cancers.
