There are about 9745 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Israel. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Clinical guidelines (AASLD) recommend the use of abdominal ultrasound (US) for surveillance testing for the early detection of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC). The serum protein biomarker alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is commonly used to augment US but its use alone is not recommended by clinical guidelines. Despite evidence that HCC surveillance improves early detection and reduces mortality from HCC, current HCC surveillance tests lack sensitivity, leaving a significant proportion of patients to present with late-stage disease. The Glycotest HCC Panel has shown better sensitivity than AFP, which is ineffective for the detection of early-stage HCC. This clinical study seeks to validate the Glycotest HCC Panel using a large multicenter cohort of cases and controls that includes patients diagnosed with early-stage HCC against a background of cirrhosis and cirrhotic patients without HCC (at risk) undergoing an established surveillance protocol.
Purpose: To examine the effect of addition of combination therapy with dapagliflozin plus pioglitazone to insulin on glucose control and plasma ketone concentration in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) Research Design: 120 patients with type 1 diabetes who otherwise are healthy constitute the study population. After screening, eligible subjects will start 4 week run in. At week 4, subjects will receive dapagliflozin for 12 weeks. At week 16, subjects will be randomized to receive in a double blind fashion pioglitazone or placebo for 16 weeks. Methods: the following techniques will be employed in the present study: (1) mixed meal tolerance test; (2) indirect calorimetry; (3) continuous glucose monitoring. Clinical Relevance: the results of the present study will demonstrate that the addition of pioglitazone to SGLT2 inhibitor in T1DM patients produces greater reduction in the HbA1c without increasing risk of ketoacidosis and hypoglycemia.
The study compares 2 medicines used for the treatment of children who are born small and who stayed small: somapacitan given once a week (a new medicine) and Norditropin® given once a day (the medicine doctors can already prescribe). Participants will either get somapacitan or Norditropin® - which treatment is decided by chance. Both participants and the study doctor will know which treatment the participants get. The study will last for 5 years. Participants will take either an injection once every week or once every day.
The oral bio-availability of cannabidiol (CBD) is low due to poor water solubility and susceptibility to extensive first pass metabolism, resulting in relative bio-availability of 6%.This project is designed to evaluate the plasma concentration vs. time profile of a self emulsifying drug delivery system termed Long Chain Nano Lipospheres (LNL) for enhancing the oral bio-availability of cannabidiol (CBD). The main goal of this study is to evaluate the bio-equivalence of CBD in the LNL product, compared to CBD in a sesame oil vehicle and CBD without any formulation, in powder form. Bio-equivalence is measured by AUC 0-24h, Tmax and Cmax.
The study will enroll approximately 316 subjects with a wide spectrum of PCI indications (stable angina as well as ACS), who are considered to be at high risk of bleeding. Patients will undergo PCI with implantation of the EluNIR stent, followed by shortened duration (1 months in stable patients, and up to 3 months in ACS patients) of DAPT.
this pilot study aims to further explore the potential usage of Fecal microbiota transplantation in treating constipation and possibly also motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients, and to increase understanding of the potential relationship between the identities of intestinal microbial communities and PD.
The purpose of this phase 1, multicenter study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability and preliminary efficacy of LUT014 in adult metastatic colorectal cancer patients with EGFR Inhibitor induced acneiform lesions
The study aims to characterize the effect of OPMD mutation on muscle function. Muscle samples will be received from oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD) patients who undergo cricopharyngeal muscle-cutting surgery, as part of their routine healthcare and treatment.
Our objective is to evaluate the influence of inhaled NO on the saturation and exercise capacity of patients with COPD and IPF. each participant will undergo two six minute walk tests, one with inhaled NO and the other with placebo.
Nutritional factors are responsible for 10% of the global health burden. In Israel, 31% of Jewish women and 52% of Arab women are obese. It is predicted that this generation will see increased cardiovascular disease (CVD) and decreased life expectancy. Sustained lifestyle changes including small changes in nutrition behavior, can substantially reduce the risk of CVD. Eating habits are affected by different abilities, circumstances, and skill sets, however, most nutrition programs focus on nutrition facts, and less on skills that can help translate knowledge to positive health behaviors and health outcomes. In the last decade a new field has emerged, Food literacy (FL), which acknowledges the importance of addressing skills such as nutrition knowledge, competencies, self-efficacy, literacy and health literacy, so as to enable positive change in nutrition behaviors. Food literacy, in summary, is the capability to make healthy food choices in different contexts, settings and situations. The proposed program seeks to improve nutrition behaviors in disadvantaged communities via a train-the-trainers program, that will provide community leaders with the tools necessary to disseminate FL skills through the framework of existing community social-structures.
