There are about 9745 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Israel. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
In our study we will aim to examine the issues of cost analysis, quality of life, clinical efficacy and satisfaction of psychiatric consultations through videoconference in a primary care setting in comparison with in-person psychiatric treatment and primary care only. The main hypotheses of the study are: Satisfaction of the patients will increase, the use of telepsychiatry will reduce the costs for the primary and mental health care centers as well as for the patients, the treatment will be as effective as in-person treatment, the number of patients referred to mental health treatment will be higher than that of the previous year, quality of life will improve and that there will be a stigma reduction of mental illness.
The goal of this project is to develop a low-cost, user-friendly, portable telerehabilitation system for physical therapy of the upper limb after stroke or traumatic brain injury. The system is based on the use of a commercially available force feedback joystick and will work with an ordinary home PC and a standard high-speed internet connection. Using the joystick, the patient will perform exercises designed to aid in recovering motor function of the hand and arm. The joystick will be programmed to either assist or resist the patient's movements. The system will include sophisticated analysis of patient status and progress to provide the therapist and physician with detailed information. In the first phase of the study, we will develop the system in cooperation with the physical therapy staff and other rehabilitation specialists. The investigators will examine the usability, comfort, safety and therapeutic benefit of the system. In the second phase of the study, the investigators will employ the system in patients' homes, using the internet to connect to rehabilitation specialists in the clinic. The study hypothesis is that it is possible to adapt commercially available, low cost gaming equipment such as force feedback joysticks to provide therapy for patients in their own homes, and that patients will be able to work with this system and will find it enjoyable and helpful for recovering motor function.
We hypothesized that pretreatment nonresponder and responder liver tissue would show consistent differences in gene expression levels and that these differences could be used to predict treatment outcomes and this can obviate the need of the present therapeutic trial. We are interested in conducting a retrospective study using the data of patients suffering from chronic HCV infection who were treated in our department with a combination of PEGINTERFERON and RIBAVIRIN. All these patients underwent liver biopsy prior the treatment. Based on the clinical data available it is possible to determine the responders and nonresponders to this therapy.RNA will be extracted from the liver tissue and the expression of 5 genes(IFI15,IFI616,IFI1,OAS3,OAS2 )will be checked .The prediction power of the combination of these genes in differentiating responders from nonresponders will be determined.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the biofeedback gait training device in improving load bearing over an operated limb, during post-operative gait training therapy. The effectiveness of the device will also be tested in self-training at home.
The purpose of this study is to compare two techniques for treating patients with Whiplash Associated Disorders, in relation to: disability, balance, cervical pain and cervical range of motion. The hypothesis: The APOS kit treatment is more effective than the short wave therapy.
Numerous studies document the ability of tumors to shed DNA into the blood stream. Circulating DNA can thus be recovered for analyses, representing a surrogate tumor material to test for potential applications in disease diagnosis and prognosis. Detection of genetic alternation is one of the most important tests for cancer patient since they offen correlated with the clinical course, prognosis and chemosensitivity of primary brain tumors. Currently in brain tumor patients these molecular aberrations can be analyzed only on tumor tissue that was obtained at surgery or biopsy. Paucity of pathologic samples or poor fixation technique often make the tissue samples unassessable for molecular aberrations. Therefore, the ability to extract tumor DNA from peripheral blood holds a great clinical significance. Still, the molecular aberration evaluated on serum DNA should be correlated and verified by comparison to standard evaluations performed on tumor samples. Our study aim is to evaluate the feasibility of using serum DNA for routine diagnosis of tumor molecular aberrations.
Nitrous oxide analgesia is used routinely for the dental treatment of anxious or uncooperative pediatric patients. In many instances it is used alone without any supplemental oral premedication. A controversy exists among pediatric dentists and pediatric dental departments regarding the need to apply pre-procedural fasting (PF) or other limitations on children undergoing dental treatment with nitrous oxide alone. The purpose of this study is to investigate the association between PF and the frequency of vomiting in pediatric patients receiving dental treatment with nitrous oxide analgesia.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of Aerobic Physical Activity on the function of the Autonomic System in patients after Myocardial Infarction or Stroke. A secondary objective is to examine whether it is possible to predict which of the patients will most benefit from physical activity (exercise training), taking into account, genetic factors such as Polymorphism of ACE (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme)
The outcome of brain injury (physical or stroke) may be related to a brain electrical phenomenon known as Cortical Spreading Depression (CSD). This is a brief cessation of function in a local region of brain tissue. It has been hypothesized that CSD may occur after brain injury and may expand the damage to adjacent brain areas. Our aim is to detect CSD by means of intracranial electrodes in patients with brain injuries and asses how these events alter the outcome of the patients.
The study involves adult subject requiring colonic anastomosis following laparoscopic intra-corporeal surgery. The anastomosis will be performed by using nitinilclip by the LapCAC device instead of staplers. Endpoints: safety-Functioning secured anastomosis and no occurrence of adverse event related to device use. The efficacy endpoint of this study includes clinical evaluation of characteristic parameters related to intestinal surgeries. Discharge day (or ready-for-discharge) Proven anastomotic leak rate (clinically or radiological) Stenosis / stricture at anastomosis Patient recovery level will be assessed every day during hospitalization and in the follow up visits.
