There are about 3753 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Hong Kong. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This is a proof-of-concept pilot nested in the RCT titled, 'Zero-time Exercise on Inactive Adults With Insomnia Disorder'. It aims to evaluate the effects of a simple WhatsApp intervention on exercise adherence and on sleep and related outcomes.
Relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) has a poorer outcome than newly diagnosed ALL patients with only about 40% overall survival after re-treatment. The study CCCG Relapsed ALL 2017 study will adopt the UK R3 study stratification and treatment backbone with two new agents added. There will be a 4-week induction, followed by two consolidation courses. High-risk patients will receive allogeneic stem cell transplant. While intermediate and standard risk groups will continue maintenance treatment for another 2 years or one year. New agents will be added aiming at improving survival outcome. 1. Study of adding anti-CD20 antibody (rituximab) with chemotherapy: CD20 is found to be expressed in 40-50% of B-lineage ALL, and rituximab has been studied in adult ALL with superior survival (75% vs 47%,). There is little experience of using rituximab in pediatric ALL thus a CCCG Relapsed ALL 2017 Study will perform the study assessing the remission rate and MRD response of CD20+ ALL treated with rituximab. Six doses of rituximab and will be monitored the week 5 MRD and relapse rate as study outcome. (This arm was terminated in October 2020 after interim analysis showing lack of efficacy) 2. Adding bortezomid during the induction: The very early or early bone marrow relapse has low remission rate. Previous case studies showed that Bortezomib, a proteasome inhibitor, may achieve remission in refractory ALL, 80% remission in B-ALL with combination of chemotherapy and bortezomib. Thus adding bortezomib, may improve the remission rate, thus bridging to allogeneic stem cell transplant. Adding bortezomib in the relapsed chemotherapy protocol may increase the toxicity and even treatment related mortality. In this protocol, we suggested to add during the induction therapy.
This is a single centre randomised controlled study comparing underwater clip closure versus conventional gas insufflation clip closure of post-resection defect in patients undergoing colonic endoscopic resection. The investigators hypothesize that underwater clip closure would be faster than conventional closure under gas insufflation.
A multi-center evaluation of aldafermin in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in subjects with compensated cirrhosis.
Tai Chi exercises have increasingly grown in popularity among older adults in the past decades. It has been well studied to its efficacies in proportion with the management of elderly fall prevention and mineral-structured bone density enhancement. Nevertheless, existing study sources do little exemplified a quantifiable measures of effects in patients suffer from osteoarthritis of knees being impacted from a routine performance of Tai Chi.
Acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding(AUGIB) is a common emergency. The NaviCam (ANKON) is a miniaturised wireless endoscope in a single use capsule. It can be remotely controlled with the patient in a magnetic console.. In patients with AUGIB, NaviCam has been compared to conventional esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (EGD) in their diagnostic yields. NaviCam has been shown to detect more lesions including those in the small bowel. There are therefore several theoretical advantages to the use of NaviCam in the management of patients with AUGIB.An initial NaviCam examination allows triaging of patients. Those with low risk lesions can be discharged without EGD and hospital admission. These represent substantial reduction in resource utilisation. In the diagnosis of small bowel lesions, the yield from a video capsule examination is higher closer to the time of index bleed. The primary objective of the study is to determine the diagnostic yield of NaviCam in patients who present with overt signs of AUGIB. In addition, the investigators aim to determine if NaviCam examinations can reduce hospital resource utilisation and compare the use of NaviCam as a triage tool to the use of risk scores such as the Glasgow Blatchford Score (GBS). The investigators hypothesize that early NaviCam examination can allow safe discharge of more patients when compared to GBS.
This is a prospective, single arm study to assess the safety and performance of the EndoMaster EASE (Endoluminal Access Surgical Efficacy) System for the treatment of patients with colorectal neoplasms.
This is a randomized controlled trial comparing the short-term and medium-term effect of self-administered and knee health education for relieving knee pain in middle-aged and older adults with knee osteoarthritis.
Robotic prostatectomy (RARP) is a surgery for treatment localized prostate cancer. Bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection (BPLND) will also be performed if there is an estimated risk of occult nodal metastases exceeding 5%. BPLND in general is a well-tolerated procedure. Lymphatic leak is one of the possible complications after lymph node dissection (BPLND). Lymphocele is a collection of lymphatic fluid after operation. Hemopatch is a material used during operation that may prevent lymphorrhoea. This is a randomizedcontrolled trial that aims at investigating the application of Hemopatch to raw lymphatic tissue in preventing lymphorrhoea. Patients would be divided into 2 groups: with or without the use of Hemopatch during operation. They will be followed up on day 30 to monitor the course of recovery and any complications.
The objective of this research study is to find the efficacy of trans-spinal electrical stimulation, a non-invasive neurostimulation method to modulate the functions of spinal cord neurocircuits, on improving upper-extremity functions such as reaching and grasping in individuals suffering with traumatic brain injury (TBI) or cervical spinal cord injury (SCI); and to find the physiological changes in the neuromuscular systems after this new intervention with high-resolution electrophysiology and biomedical imaging.
