There are about 21071 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Spain. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The main purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of volrustomig compared to observation in participants with unresected locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (LA-HNSCC) who have not progressed after receiving definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy (cCRT).
Purpose: Healthy aging is the process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation and safety in order to improve quality of life as people age. This study aimed to provide healthy aging for people with cognitive impairment through the use of the Nintendo Switch combined with Occupational Therapy sessions. Material and methods: a randomized clinical trial was conducted. The sample was randomized using a software program, OxMar, which allowed the separation of the sample into a control group (CG), which received their usual sessions of conventional occupational therapy, and an experimental group (EG), which received therapy with Nintendo Switch, plus their conventional occupational therapy sessions. An 8-week intervention was conducted with Nintendo Switch. Measures: Nine Hole Peg Test, Box and Block Test, Barthel Index, WHOQOL-BREF, CSQ-8.
A dietary pattern based on Mediterranean diet has been reported as healthy for humans, as well as doing aerobic exercise regularly, diminishing the development of potential inflammation in subjects. Protein intake has been proposed as nutritional strategy to further improve these positives outcomes in terms of preventing inflammation diseases. In this work, overweight patients followed a Mediterranean diet together with aerobic exercise according to WHO-guidelines and were supplemented with 20 g of hemp protein/day, for twelve weeks. Anthropometric and biochemical measures (including analysis of oligoelements), as well as plasma circulating amino acids were evaluated in each patient at the end of the intervention, to assess whether biologically relevant changes could be observed.
This open-label, single-arm study will evaluate the safety and expression of delandistrogene moxeparvovec in participants with DMD. Participants will be in the study for approximately 264 weeks.
To determine the overall prevalence of postoperative delirium (POI) and its association with different risk factors in order to establish prevention plans to reduce its incidence and/or duration in Spanish hospitals. To this end, patients over 18 years of age who underwent urgent and scheduled surgery requiring hospital admission under any type of anaesthesia during two specific days will be recruited and pre-, intra- and postoperative data will be collected.
Therapeutic exercise, including aerobic activity and strength training, has shown promise in treating primary headaches with a moderate effect size, despite limited evidence. Implementation requires specialized professionals, infrastructure, and defined care pathways. These strategies are cost-effective for similar chronic pain conditions. More research is needed to better understand the varying effects on headache frequency, duration, and intensity in larger patient samples.
This randomised study evaluates the efficacy of health education and therapeutic group factors on cardiac rehabilitation and quality of life in coronary patients attending cardiac rehabilitation programmes in Extremadura.
A multi-school, two-arm parallel cluster-randomized controlled trial will be conducted in 200 healthy young adolescents from Barcelona (Spain) to evaluate the effect of peanut consumption on cognitive performance, weight management and inflammation. Schools willing to participate will be randomly assigned to either the intervention or the control group. After the recruitment, the participants will follow a peanut-free diet for two weeks. Both arms will receive a multidimensional educational intervention designed by the Gasol Foundation to promote healthy dietary habits based on Mediterranean diet recommendations, along with exercise performance, healthy sleeping habits and emotional knowledge. Half of the participants (intervention group) will consume 25 g of whole skin roasted peanuts as a daily snack to be incorporated into their diet for six months.
Introduction: Cerebrovascular damage (stroke) can generate motor or cognitive sequelae, making rehabilitation (such as the Pilates method) necessary to improve autonomy and quality of life. However, there are no studies on the efficacy of the method in the recovery of the upper limb and the improvement of autonomy after stroke. Methods: Randomized double-blind clinical trial with patients with stroke in semi-acute period, randomized into experimental group (EG) (conventional rehabilitation and Pilates) or control group (CG) (conventional rehabilitation). After randomization and initial evaluation, the intervention will begin (2 sessions per week, 3 months). After completion, there will be post-intervention assessment, and another one at 1 month. Intervention: The CG will receive 30 minutes of physical therapy and 30 minutes of occupational therapy. The SG will receive 20 minutes of physiotherapy, 20 minutes of occupational therapy and 20 minutes of Pilates. Assessment instruments: Mean Functional Independence; Functional Range Test; Timed 'Up and Go'; Nine Hole Peg Test; Box and Block Test; Arm, Shoulder and Hand Disabilities Questionnaire; Client Satisfaction Questionnaire.
The trial will compare the influence of treatment with ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) compared to placebo on glycaemic control (primary outcome) in women with GDM after a positive diagnosis at 24-28 weeks of gestation. The investigators will evaluate maternal and fetal lipid and glucose metabolism. Neonatal health outcomes will also be studied, including the rate of LGA. UDCA is used to treat the commonest liver disease of pregnancy, intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP), and has good safety data to support its use in pregnancy 52-57 ., it means, no studies reported any increase in adverse outcomes associated with UDCA treatment. It is noteworthy that in the largest study 52, 8 serious adverse events were reported, 6 of which were in the placebo group, and none were considered to be related to the trial intervention. There were 72 adverse events: 31 in the ursodeoxycholic acid group and 41 in the placebo group. The same number of patients in each group (n=10) reported adverse events related to gastrointestinal disorders.
