This is a study of pemetrexed disodium plus cisplatin as first-line therapy in patients with advanced non-squamous cell lung cancer. This is a phase IIA pharmacogenomic trial.
To primary efficacy variable is to assess the presence or absence of excessive blood loss during and after surgery. The secondary efficacy endpoints are as follows: 1. A subjective overall assessment by the investigator of FACTOR X in the control of bleeding during surgery. 2. The incidence of bleeding episodes during treatment with FACTOR X while the subject is at risk of post-operative bleeding, including location and duration. 3. Incremental recovery of FX:C and FX:Ag after the pre-surgery bolus infusion. 4. Assessment of FX:C and FX:Ag levels on each day post-surgery. 5. Assessment of the cumulative weight-adjusted doses of FACTOR X as measured by FX:C (IU/kg body weight) administered to each subject to maintain haemostasis. 6. Assessment of the cumulative doses of FACTOR X as measured by FX:C (IU) administered to each subject to maintain haemostasis. 7. Amount of weight-adjusted FACTOR X as measured by FX:C (IU/kg body weight) administered daily (day of surgery and each post-operative day) to maintain haemostasis.
Conventional intestinal manometry is the current gold standard for the evaluation of intestinal motility, and identifies patterns of intestinal dysmotility. However intestinal manometry involves intestinal intubation with consequent discomfort for the patients, and requires considerable technical expertise and knowledge for interpretation of the data. Hence, to date this method has limited indications and is restricted to very few referral centers around the world. A novel method for evaluation of intestinal motility has been developed based on endoluminal image analysis using the endoscopic PillCam capsule, In contrast to manometry, this technique is minimally invasive, the technical aspects are simple, and the analysis is fully automated by a computer program. The technique has been validated in a group of patients with intestinal dysmotility and healthy subjects, and has demonstrated over 90% sensitivity and specificity. This technique needs now to be validated in a large multinational population, to further develop a robust discrimination algorithm for widespread diagnostic application. Furthermore, whereas manometry only recognizes neuropathic, myopathic and obstructive motor patterns, endoluminal image analysis may identify different categories of patients depending on the clinical presentation and the etiologic factors involved. This study is designed to provide evidence that the algorithm, using images created by PillCam SB2 capsules, is at least as good as small bowel manometry in diagnosing severe dysmotility.
The purpose of this study is to determine if the addition of study drug (custirsen) can provide durable pain palliation for castrate resistant prostate cancer patients receiving docetaxel retreatment or cabazitaxel as a second line therapy.
The objective of this study is to compare the incidence of post-repair wound related complications, including hernia occurrence/recurrence, between challenging abdominal wall defects repaired with Strattice(TM) Reconstructive Tissue Matrix (TM) and those managed by standard repair. It is hypothesized that the use of Strattice(TM) TM to reinforce the repair will reduce the incidence of these post-repair complications.
Ovarian reserve is related to chronological age; 35 years of age is the accepted threshold for significant decline in assisted reproductive technologies (ART) success with scarce follicular recruitment and poor oocyte retrieval. New therapeutic schemes are sought to improve follicular response in ovarian ageing because of the increasing number of infertile women aged older than 35 years who are trying to get pregnant. The advent of gonadotropin releasing hormone analogue antagonist (GnRHant) offers new perspectives to address the issues related to advanced reproductive age since it prevents premature luteinizing hormone (LH) surges while not causing suppression in the early follicular phase. Gonadotropin releasing hormone analogue antagonists are administered in the latter stage of the ovarian stimulation to prevent LH surge by competitive blockade of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) receptors, thus producing a marked decrease in LH levels just when the interplay between follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and LH becomes important to complete follicular development and oocyte competence. Some studies in the past have shown the potential of recombinant human LH (r-hLH) supplementation in women of advanced reproductive age to improve oocyte quality, but these studies are of small size and did not provide data on the physiological mechanism behind the benefit obtained. This randomized, comparative, parallel controlled Phase II study will be conducted in infertile female subjects aged 35-42 years undergoing in-vitro fertilization (IVF)/intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), to investigate whether the addition of r-hLH (when the lead follicle is greater than [>] 14 millimeter [mm] in size), to the standard protocol with recombinant human FSH (r-hFSH) under GnRHant, improves the number and quality of oocytes retrieved, implantation rate, and pregnancy rate, while assessing the hormonal milieu in the ovarian follicular fluid. Comparison will be performed against ovarian stimulation without addition of r-hLH, that is (i.e.) with r-hFSH under GnRHant alone.
The assessment of otelixizumab in rheumatoid arthritis subjects will provide safety, tolerability, pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic information which will enable the identification of appropriate safe and well-tolerated dosage regimens to be used in clinical efficacy studies. This study will consist of a screening phase, followed by a treatment period where four cohorts of subjects will receive 5 daily intravenous infusions of otelixizumab. The cumulative dose will increase in each successive cohort and infusion rates can be adjusted based on signs and symptoms of cytokine release syndrome and to ensure the specified maximum infusion rate is not exceeded. Serial blood samples will be obtained for clinical laboratory testing, determination of pharmacodynamic markers, serum otelixizumab PK parameters, exploratory biomarkers and immunogenicity. Safety and pharmacodynamic data from the previous cohort(s) will be evaluated prior to dosing subsequent cohorts to ensure safety. Adverse events, laboratory values, vital signs and ECG's will be monitored closely during this study. All subjects in the study will undergo long-term follow-up out to 48 months to monitor patient safety.
This randomized phase 3 trial is studying the effect of denosumab to see if it can prevent disease recurrence in the bone or in any other part of the body, when it is given as adjuvant therapy for women with early-stage breast cancer, who are at high risk of disease recurrence.

This is a multicentric, open, randomized, comparative trial aimed to assess the influence of recombinant luteinizing hormone (r-LH) supplementation during controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) in advanced reproductive age in terms of improved embryo competence which allows to transfer less embryos to avoid high grade multiple pregnancy without reducing the pregnancy rate.
