There are about 11304 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Denmark. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Diabetic pregnancies are often complicated by placental dysfunction with reduced transfer of oxygen from the mother to the fetus, which may compromise fetal growth and organ development. In diabetic pregnancies, hyperinsulinemia and hyperglycemia very often leads to fetal macrosomia. The combination of reduced placental oxygen transfer and increasing fetal demand due to fetal overgrowth may possess a particular risk of adverse pregnancy outcome. Current methods in the antenatal identification of placental dysfunction relies on estimates of fetal size and fetal wellbeing using ultrasound including Doppler flows measurements. These measurements are only indirect estimates of placental function, as no clinical method exists to assess placental function directly. In diabetic pregnancies, the estimates are further limited due to fetal overgrowth and unreliable Doppler. In addition, in diabetic pregnancies, intrauterine fetal weight estimates by ultrasound are inaccurate because of asymmetric fetal growth. Therefore, new accurate methods to assess placental function, fetal oxygenation and fetal growth in this particular group of high-risk pregnancies is highly needed. Early and precise identification of pathology in diabetes pregnancy may lead to an improved outcome in the offspring, as precise identification of pathology facilitates important obstetric decisions in regards to maternal antidiabetic treatment and timing of delivery. Resent research indicates that MRI is useful for this purpose. It is well described, that preeclampsia is associated with an increased maternal risk of cardiovascular disease later in life. Recent studies suggest, that pregestational subclinical cardiovascular dysfunction, in particular left ventricular dysfunction, may increase the risk of preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction during pregnancy. Cardiac MRI is a sensitive method to detect subclinical maternal cardiac dysfunction, which may be used in identification of high-risk pregnancies. In addition, the longitudinal design of this study allows for the investigation of cardiovascular changes during pregnancies in normal pregnancies and pregnancies complicated by diabetes. The overall aim of this study is to improve the antenatal fetal and maternal monitoring in diabetes pregnancies. Early and precise identification of pregnancy pathology provides a better basis for important obstetric decisions regarding antidiabetic treatment, monitoring intervals and timing of delivery, which leads to a better outcome for the mother and offspring. Hypothesis Project A: Placental function and fetal oxygenation in diabetic pregnancies estimated by T2* weighted placental and fetal MRI Aim: To investigate placental function and fetal oxygenation by longitudinal T2* weighted placental MRI and the association with pregnancy complications. Hypothesis: - Diabetic pregnancies are characterized by placental hypoxia (low T2* value) - Diabetic pregnancies are characterized by fetal hypoxia (low T2* value) - Fetal and placental hypoxia is a risk factor of placental related complications in pregnancy such as low birth weight, preterm delivery, acute cesarean sections and preeclampsia. Project B: Fetal growth and the growth of selected fetal organs in diabetic pregnancies estimated by longitudinal MRI volumetry Aim: To investigate growth velocity of the fetus and selected fetal organs and the correlation with pregnancy complications. Hypothesis: - Diabetic pregnancies are characterized by accelerated fetal growth in the third trimester - Diabetic pregnancies are characterized by asymmetric growth (reduced brain/liver-volume ratio) - Abnormal fetal growth is associated with dysregulated maternal diabetes. - Abnormal fetal growth is a risk factor of pregnancy complications such as; macrosomia, preterm delivery and acute cesarean sections. Project C: Maternal cardiac function in diabetic pregnancies estimated by MRI Aim: To investigate maternal cardiac function and the correlation with pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction. Hypothesis: - Maternal cardiac function is altered in diabetes pregnancies when compared to normal pregnancies. - Impaired cardiac function (left ventricular dysfunction) is a risk factor of preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction.
Background: Liver transplantation is the only curative treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease. Short-term survival has improved due to improved surgical techniques and greater efficacy of immunosuppressive drugs. At present, the 10-year survival after liver transplantation is 60%, but long-term survival has not improved to the same extent the short-term survival. In addition to liver- and transplant-related causes, comorbidities such as cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, and metabolic diseases have emerged as leading causes of morbidity and mortality in liver transplant recipients. The objective of this study is to assess the burden of comorbidities and identify both liver- and transplant-related risk factors as well as traditional risk factors that contribute to the pathogenesis of comorbidity in liver transplant recipients. Methods/design: The DACOLT study is an observational, longitudinal study. The investigators aim to include all adult liver transplant recipients in Denmark. Participants will be matched by sex and age to controls from the Copenhagen General Population Study (CGPS) and the Copenhagen City Heart Study (CCHS). Physical and biological measures including blood pressure, ancle-brachial index, spirometry, exhaled nitric oxide, electrocardiogram, transthoracic echocardiography, computed tomography (CT) angiography of the heart, unenhanced CT of chest and abdomen and blood samples will be collected using uniform protocols in participants in CGPS, CCHS and DACOLT. Blood samples will be collected and stored in a research biobank. Follow-up examinations at regular intervals up to 10 years of follow-up are planned. Discussion: There is no international consensus standard for optimal clinical care or monitoring of liver transplant recipients. The study will determine prevalence, incidence and risk factors for comorbidity in liver transplant recipients and may be used to provide evidence for guidelines on screening and long-term treatment and thereby contribute to improvement of the long-term survival.
Background: The worldwide incidence of skin cancer has been rising for 50 years, in particular the incidence of malignant melanoma has increased approx. 2-7% annually and is the most common cancer amongst Danes aged 15-34. Currently there is a significant amount of misdiagnosis of skin cancer and mole cancer, and most excised skin lesions are benign. Previous studies have shown that there is no significant increase in doctors diagnostic accuracy during the first 6 years of clinical work. The resources spend on healthy people could be put to better use, if the Benign-Malignant Ratio could be lowered. This could potentially be done by better educating the doctors during their everyday clinical practice. Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the dose/response effect of an AI augmented training and clinical feedback on the diagnostic accuracy of skin cancer and clinical decisions among doctors from specialized skin cancer centers. Research question: How much specialized doctors need to train before their diagnostic accuracy and clinical decisions change?
In this randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial, patients will be randomized to be administered viscous lidocaine or placebo preoperatively to elective upper GI endoscopy
The overall objective of this study is to investigate the efficacy of low-intensity blood flow restricted resistance exercise (BFRRE) to promote health beneficial skeletal muscle adaptations and augment muscle function in a healthy older population. This objective will be achieved by in-dept evaluation of skeletal muscle cellular and functional characteristics prior to and after an intervention period comprising 6 weeks of BFRRE or non-exercise control intervention in healthy older subjects. A special focus is placed on the ability of BFRRE to stimulate skeletal muscle protein synthesis and augment muscle stem cell function. Furthermore, recent findings suggests that similar exercise interventions in a population of patients with heart failure (HF) does not stimulate the desired adaptations. In accordance, we aim to compare the adaptive response to BFRRE amongst HF patients and the enrolled age-matched healthy individuals from the present investigation. The findings of the current study will expand our understanding of how low-intensity resistance exercise alternatives might be viable in promoting muscle anabolism to combat the loss of muscle mass observed with ageing as well as the potential anabolic resistance accompanying HF diagnosis.

This non-interventional study concerns a safety data collection based on adverse event data from a third-party registry (European Haemophilia Safety Surveillance System, EUHASS) that includes information about adverse events from patients with haemophilia A treated with turoctocog alfa pegol. There is no extra burden to the patients by participating in this registry-based data collection.
In a population based on healthy adolescents we will conduct a double blind placebo controlled food challenge (DBPCFC) with cross-over to identify patients with NCGS as recommended by the socalled Salerno criteria. It will take place at Hans Christian Andersen Childrens Hospital at Odense University Hospital, Denmark in October-November 2020.
The aim of this study is to evaluate whether exposure to semaglutide influences the risk of pancreatic cancer in patients with type 2 diabetes. This is achieved by estimating the risk of pancreatic cancer associated with semaglutide use as compared to use of other non-incretin antidiabetic drugs used at a similar stage as Ozempic® or Rybelsus® in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. A multi-national, non-interventional study based on health care data from Denmark, Sweden, and Norway is conducted covering the period 2018-2023. A cohort study design is used comparing new users of semaglutide with new users of other antidiabetic drugs used at a similar stage as Ozempic® or Rybelsus® in the treatment of type 2 diabetes (active comparators). Active comparators will include the following non-incretin antidiabetic agents: sulphonylureas, sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors, and insulin subdivided into i) basal insulin only and ii) basal + bolus insulin or premix insulin. Propensity scores are used to match new users of semaglutide with new users of active comparators. National prescription-, cancer- and patient registries are used to identify exposure to antidiabetic agents, pancreatic cancer cases, and covariates to be used in propensity score matching. This study is a post-authorisation safety study (PASS).
3-part study of patients with psoriasis, including 1) a population based questionnaire 2) cross-sectional clinical study with focus on musculoskeletal ultrasound and patient reported outcomes 3) 12 months follow-up study of patients with certain ultrasonic signs of psoriatic arthritis. Patients with pain: Interventional with 6 months treatment with apremilast, followed by 6 months observation. Patients without pain: 12 months observation.
