Start date: April 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of the present study is to explore functional consequences of migraine gene mutations on their responses to GTN infusion.

Study to Compare the Efficacy and Safety of Pitavastatin and Pravastatin in Elderly Patients

Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of pitavastatin with that of pravastatin in elderly patients

NCT ID: NCT00257504 Completed - Clinical trials for Intradialytic Hypotension

Central Blood Volume in Hypotensive Dialysis Patients

Start date: November 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of the study is to test whether hypotensive episodes during dialysis - caused by withdrawal of fluid drom the circulation - can be predicted by means of two harmless monitoring techniques.

NCT ID: NCT00257283 Completed - Clinical trials for Kidney Failure, Chronic

Omacor in Prevention of Cardiovascular Events in Patients Undergoing Chronic Hemodialysis

Start date: November 2002
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this investigator initated study is to examine the effect of OMACOR (Omega-3-acid ethyl ester 90) on the incidence of cardiovascular events and mortality in patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis, who has previously experienced a cardiovascular event.

NCT ID: NCT00256932 Completed - Constipation Clinical Trials

Treatment Of Constipation Due To Opioids Being Taken For Persistent Non-Cancer Pain

Start date: August 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Adults who are taking opioid therapy for persistent non-cancer pain and have resulting opioid-induced bowel dysfunction (OBD) will be randomized (1:1:1) to one 2 alvimopan arms, or to placebo. The primary objective of this phase 3 confirmatory study is to compare alvimopan with placebo for efficacy in the treatment of OBD. The primary efficacy endpoint is based on frequency of bowel movements. Subjects will be required to: (1) track their bowel movements and other bowel symptoms and (2) attend 6 clinic visits over 4 months.

NCT ID: NCT00256893 Completed - Clinical trials for Fibromyalgia Syndrome, Primary

Fibromyalgia Study In Adults

Start date: November 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

A study to investigate ropinirole for treatment of the symptoms of fibromyalgia and in particular the widespread pain associated with this condition. A total 160 subjects (80 per treatment arm) are being recruited from approximately 25 centres in 9 European countries. Male and female subjects greater than 18 years of age with a diagnosis of primary fibromyalgia, as defined by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria, are eligible for study entry. Subjects will receive either ropinirole (1-24mg) or placebo, depending upon a statistically defined allocation to treatment. The primary endpoint is improvement in pain score by 12 weeks of treatment. An 11 point numerical rating scale for the assessment of the subject's pain is being collected on a daily diary. In addition, the overall improvement in quality of life for the subject will be assessed by means of a number of subject-completed questionnaires during the treatment period. Safety of the treatment regimen will be assessed throughout the study.

NCT ID: NCT00256737 Completed - GERD Clinical Trials

The purpose of this study is to study gastritis, GI symptoms during long term omeprazole treatment

NCT ID: NCT00256256 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

The Effect of GLP-1 on Glucose Uptake in the Brain and Heart in Healthy Men

Start date: November 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Type 2 diabetes mellitus, T2D is a disease characterized by an immense growing prevalence world wide with an increased risk of myocardial infarction and stroke. GLP-1 has convincing effects on the high glucose levels in type 2 diabetic patients and is well tolerated. New animal studies indicate a protective effect of GLP-1 in the brain and the heart. The mechanism behind this is yet not known. The study hypothesis is that GLP-1 will stimulate glucose-uptake in the brain and heart independent of insulin and thereby exert its protective effects.

NCT ID: NCT00255320 Completed - Clinical trials for Healthy Volunteers, Headache, Migraine, Hemodynamics, VIP, SPECT, Ultrasound

Experimental Headache Induced by Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide

Start date: December 2003
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

We hypothesized that infusion of VIP may induce headache in healthy subjects and that VIP induced headache may be associated with dilatation of intra- and extracerebral blood vessels. To test this hypothesis, we performed a double blind placebo controlled crossover study in normal human volunteers and studied the effect on headache and cerebral as well as hemodynamic parameters.

NCT ID: NCT00255281 Completed - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials
