NCT ID: NCT00264849 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Omalizumab in Adult and Adolescent Patients With Severe Persistent Allergic Asthma

Start date: November 2005
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Omalizumab will be given as add-on treatment to optimized asthma therapy in patients with severe persistent asthma, who demonstrate inadequate asthma symptom control. Response to omalizumab over time will be assessed by physicians and patients evaluating the overall improvement in control of their asthma. THIS STUDY IS NOT ENROLLING PATIENTS IN THE US.

NCT ID: NCT00264641 Completed - Clinical trials for Cognitive Impairment

The Impact of Renin-angiotensin System on Brain Activation During Hypoglycaemia in Healthy Men, a PET Study

Start date: January 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the cerebral blood flow in subjects with high and low activity in the renin-angiotensin system (RAS).The renin-angiotensin system is a hormone system which is involved in the regulation of the blood pressure. Earlier studies have shown that high RAS activity is associated with a more pronounced cognitive impairment during hypoglycaemia compared to low RAS activity in both type 1 diabetic patients and healthy volunteers. We intend to examine brain activity by oxygen-15 labelled water-PET scanning during hypoglycaemia in response to cognitive function testing in 20 healthy male volunteers with high and low RAS activity, respectively

NCT ID: NCT00264199 Completed - Clinical trials for Heart Failure, Congestive

Effect of 48 Hours of Treatment With the Natural Peptide-Hormone GLP-1 in Patients With Chronic Heart Failure

Start date: December 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether 48 hours of glucagon-like-peptide-1 (GLP-1) infusion can improve heart function and alter substrate metabolism in non-diabetic patients with heart failure.

NCT ID: NCT00263887 Completed - Clinical trials for Alpha 1-Antitrypsin Deficiency

Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (AAT) To Treat Emphysema In AAT-Deficient Patients (EXACTLE)

Start date: December 2003
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this trial was to explore the utility of evaluating emphysema progression through CT scans measuring lung density during a 2 year period of weekly infusions of either placebo or human alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT; Prolastin®). Exacerbation data recorded in patient diaries were also collected. All efficacy data were analyzed for potential use in evaluating Prolastin efficacy in this and other clinical trials.

NCT ID: NCT00262990 Completed - Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trials

Patupilone Versus Doxorubicin in Patients With Ovarian, Primary Fallopian, or Peritoneal Cancer

Start date: November 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of patupilone compared to pegylated liposomal doxorubicin. Additionally, this study will assess the ability of patupilone to extend the survival time and potential beneficial effects in women who have nonresponsive or recurrent ovarian, primary fallopian, or primary peritoneal cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00262600 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Randomized Evaluation of Long Term Anticoagulant Therapy (RE-LY) With Dabigatran Etexilate

Start date: December 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this trial is to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of dabigatran etexilate in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism.

NCT ID: NCT00262587 Completed - Asthma Clinical Trials

Elite Sport and Development of Asthma

Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

International studies have shown that elite athletes have a high prevalence of respiratory symptoms and asthma as compared to normal subjects. It is unclear whether the increased prevalence of asthma in elite athletes reflects "traditional asthma" or whether it is a special form of "sports asthma". The treatment of elite athletes with asthma seems to vary widely, and only a few studies have focused on the treatment of elite athletes with asthma. Further knowledge of the pathogenesis of sports asthma would lead to a greater understanding and better treatment of the condition. This study will investigate the type of airway inflammation in elite athletes and examine the effect of treatment with inhaled steroids in combination with long-acting beta-agonists versus placebo in the same group.

NCT ID: NCT00262561 Completed - Clinical trials for Intermittent Claudication

Resistance to Aspirin and/or Clopidogrel Among Patients With PAD.

Start date: January 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

263 patients with peripheral atherosclerosis were examined to evaluate the activity of the platelets during the standard treatment, including aspirin. A subgroup of 43 received 600 mg of clopidogrel 2 h before platelet reactivity analysis. The main hypothesis is that high platelet activity at the beginning of the study is associated with a higher risk of atherothrombosis. Follow up time is 5 years.

NCT ID: NCT00262262 Completed - Postoperative Pain Clinical Trials

The Effect of Levetiracetam on the Postmastectomy Pain Syndrome

Start date: March 2004
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is determine whether or not the antiepileptic drug Levetiracetam is an effective treatment of the postmastectomy pain syndrome.

Start date: February 2002
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Observational

This is a study evaluating the long-term safety of infliximab (Remicade)
