There are about 11304 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Denmark. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This study investigates cold-induced brown fat activation in winter swimmers and not-winter swimmers by skin temperature measures assessed with infra red thermography imaging and skin temperatures. Winter swimmers and not-winter swimmers will participate in an acute cooling intervention and thermoneutral intervention for comparison of energy expenditure and skin temperatures at the supraclavicular area.
In comatose patients resuscitated from out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), neurological injuries remain the leading cause of death. The in-hospital mortality is reported at 30-50%, and the total mortality, although improved substantially over the last decade, remain to be significant, in most countries at up to 90%. An adequate blood pressure must be maintained in the post-cardiac arrest patient and helps to avoid further brain injury. The current trial addresses strategies for neuroprotection using a design of two different target blood pressure levels. "Normal MAP" (approximately 65 mmHg) vs. "high MAP" (approximately 75 mmHg). Markers measuring global cerebral ischemia caused by cardiac arrest and consecutive resuscitation, and reflecting the metabolic changes after successful resuscitation are urgently needed to enable a more personalized resuscitation and post resuscitation care. It is technically simple and feasible to place a microdialysis catheter in the jugular bulb and monitor biochemical variables related to cerebral energy metabolism bedside. The LP ratio obtained from microdialysis of cerebral venous blood may be a sensitive indicator of impending cerebral damage and might play a critical role in detecting the early responses of post resuscitation care. Aim of this study is to investigate the global cerebral metabolic changes during CA and post-resuscitation care.
Patients with Raynaud's disease have an increased tendency of chest pain and migraine, and studies indicate that the disease might be associated with increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Furthermore, a certain hyperactivity of the sympathetic nervous system has been demonstrated in these patients. Hyperactivity of the sympathetic nervous system is known to cause decreasing heart function, regardless of the underlying disease. The cardiac autonomic nervous function and thermographic parameters will be assessed in patients with primary and secondary Raynaud's phenomenon and glaucoma as well as in patients diagnosed with autonomic dysfunction such as diabetics and patients with Parkinson's disease in order to compare the function of the cardiac autonomic nervous system and the peripheral response to cold exposure. Potentially, this will lead to a better understanding of the cardiac autonomic nervous function in Raynaud's phenomenon. Moreover, it might give rise to a new perception of the condition and its association to cardiovascular disease. At the Department of Clinical Physiology, the current method of detecting Raynaud's phenomenon is time-consuming and unpleasant to the patient due to cooling for several minutes. Another aim of the PhD study is to implement infrared thermography as a gentler and possibly more sensitive method to replace the currently applied method. The project will also include an epidemiological study based on data obtained from the National Patient Registry, among others. Raynaud's phenomenon will be paired with diagnostic codes of conditions such as diabetes mellitus, Parkinson's disease, glaucoma, and cardiovascular disease.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the knowledge about randomised clinical trials and the attitude towards clinical research among Danish outpatients. The INFO Trial was designed as a randomised, parallel group, observer-blinded trial comparing three types of written information (a leaflet, a brochure, and a booklet) to each other and to a no intervention group.
The purpose of this study is to examine (a) nurses' knowledge about and attitude towards clinical research, and (b) the effect of written and oral information on nurses' knowledge about and attitude towards clinical research.
A recent study by Plenge et al. revealed that rhEpo treatment enhances skeletal muscle mitochondrial respiratory capacity in humans indicating a muscle ergogenic effect of rhEpo on aerobic metabolism. The main purpose of the present study is to determine if a shorter treatment period with micro-dose as well as low-dose rhEpo has similar effects on muscle mitochondrial function. Higher doses of rhEpo is known to increase cognitive performance, but it is not clear if lower doses of rhEpo have similar effects. A second purpose of the present study is to determine if micro-dose as well as low-dose rhEpo increases cognitive performance.
The present aim is to perform at clinical double-blind placebo-controlled Cardiology Stem Cell Centre - Adipose Stem Cells (CSCC_ASC) study in heart failure patients to investigate the regenerative capacity of the CSCC_ASC treatment.
Efficacy and safety of OctaplasLG® administration vs. crystalloids (standard) in patients with septic shock - a randomized, controlled, open-label investigator-initiated pilot trial
Aim The aim of this study is to determine consequences at school age of the diagnosis of NEC in the neonatal period. Methods This is a case-control study, with case-group being children born in Denmark with a history of NEC and control-group being age-, gestational age- and year of birth matched children born in Denmark with no history of NEC. Primary outcome Abnormal or borderline 'total difficulties score' in the strenghts-and-difficulties-questionnaire as assessed by parents.
A double-blind, randomized crossover design with four arms including three experimental conditions and placebo will be applied. After having successfully completed screening procedures, eligible participants will be invited to four separate test days. The test days are separated with at least 7 days, however 4 days can be accepted for logistical reasons. During the entire course of the study, participants must remain weight stable and not change their diet or physical activity level. Significant changes in diet, physical activity level (evaluated by the sub-investigator) or weight change ±3 kg over the course of the study (from screening to completion of the last test day) results in exclusion of that subject.
