There are about 11304 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Denmark. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The diagnosis of LHCF is complicated by radiographic inability to show the full extent of the injury into the chondral (unossified) epiphysis. MRI gives a perfect view of these fractures. The safety and feasibility of non-operative treatment based on MRI findings in children with elbow fractures has not been investigated in a Danish setting. If safe and feasible, the use of MRI could dramatically lower the need for surgery in children with LHCF.
Cortical spreading depolarisations are pathological depolarisation waves that occur frequently after severe acute brain injury and has been associated with poor outcome. S-ketamine has been shown to inhibit cortical spreading depolarisations. The aim of the present study is to examine the efficacy and safety of using S-ketamine for treatment of patients with severe acute brain injury, as well as the feasibility of the trial design.
Emergence agitation is a clinical condition in which the child experiences a variety of behavioural disturbances including crying, thrashing, and disorientation during early awakening from anaesthesia. Emergence agitation is a common challenge in children with a reported incidence of approximately 25% ranging from 10 to 80 %. Clonidine is often used off-label in paediatric anaesthesia e.g. sedation in the intensive care unit, prevention of withdrawal symptoms after long-term sedation, as premedication before induction of anaesthesia or as treatment/prevention of emergence agitation. The study is designed as a randomised, placebo-controlled clinical trial evaluating efficacy and safety of a single dose of intraoperative clonidine in children 3-12 months, including pharmacokinetics.
The study aims to investigate the effect of Philips Ambient Experience with specially designed paediatric content on the experience of pediatric patients undergoing an MRI examination, their caregiver, and clinical staff, on workflow and on clinical outcome. The designed paediatric content exists of personal selection of a character, video projection on the wall and/or a screen visible when in the bore, audio, and room ambience lighting. The study will be conducted in collaboration with six partner hospitals within the EU. At each hospital, 50 pediatric patients between 6 and 12 years old will be included in the study.
Pain on the lateral side of the hip is a common condition in general practice, however there is limited evidence on how to best manage the condition. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of a combined treatment before comparing this treatment in a larger clinical trial. For the present study 20 patients with lateral hip pain will be invited to receive a corticosteroid injection in the lateral hip prior to performing our exercise program for 8 weeks. After 4 weeks we will do a short interview to get feedback on the exercise program. After 8 weeks we will evaluate the acceptability of the combined treament.
"Influenza and the Heart: An investigation into the acute and lasting cardiac effects of influenza infection" the investigators aim to assess the mechanisms for cardiovascular disease in patients suffering an acute influenza infection. The project will be carried out by creating a prospective clinical cohort study of consecutive patients hospitalized at Herlev & Gentofte University Hospital with a laboratory confirmed influenza.
Delirium is frequently observed among critically ill patients and is associated with detrimental outcomes. Currently, no evidence-based prevention or treatment exists for delirium, and especially, the inability to identify effective preventive measures of delirium has increased the focus on identifying patients with a high risk of delirium through prediction models. Two prediction models have been developed to estimate the risk of delirium in ICU patients: the prediction model for delirium (PRE-DELIRIC) and the early prediction model for delirium (E-PRE-DELIRIC). These robust and well-calibrated prediction models have the potential of assisting in identifying patients with the highest risk for delirium and thereby to focusing preventive strategies on the most vulnerable group. However further validation is needed in a Danish population.
The aim of this trial is to assess the effect of Empagliflozin on cardiac mass, volumes, cardiac biomarkers, metabolism, daily activity level, health-related quality of life in patients in elderly and obese patients with increased risk of developing heart failure. The primary hypotheses are that 180 days of treatment with Empagliflozin 10 mg a day will: 1) reduce left ventricular mass index, and 2) increase peak VO2 (maximal oxygen consumption) compared with placebo.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK), efficacy, safety and immunogenicity of ustekinumab and guselkumab in active juvenile psoriatic arthritis (jPsA).
Due to reports of a severely reduced insulinotropic effect of the incretin hormone glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) in type 2 diabetes (T2D), GIP has not been considered therapeutically viable in T2D. Recently, however, tirzepatide, a novel dual incretin receptor agonist (activating both the GIP receptor and the glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor) demonstrated massive improvements in glycaemic control and robust body weight losses; greater than observed with the GLP-1 receptor agonist semaglutide. However, the contribution of GIP receptor activation to these effects remains unknown. The present study will evaluate the glucose-lowering effect of GIP in the context of pharmacological GLP-1 receptor activation in patients with T2D.
