The trial is designed to assess the long term subjective well-being in schizophrenic outpatients treated with quetiapine XR (extended release) or oral risperidone at flexible dose in a naturalistic setting over a period of one year. Secondary outcome measures have been selected for helping in the differentiation of the compared atypical antipsychotics. The primary objective of this protocol is to evaluate 12 weeks of treatment of varenicline compared to placebo for smoking cessation. Abstinence from cigarette smoking and other tobacco products (e.g., pipe, cigars, chew, snuff.) use during non-treatment follow-up period will also be evaluated.
This study was a Phase III, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter international clinical trial conducted to investigate the use of pertuzumab in combination with trastuzumab and docetaxel as first-line treatment for participants with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Participants could have received one prior hormonal treatment for MBC. Participants may have received systemic breast cancer treatment in the neo-adjuvant or adjuvant setting, provided that the participant had experienced a disease-free interval (DFI) of greater than or equal to (≥)12 months from completion of adjuvant systemic treatment (excluding hormonal therapy) to metastatic diagnosis. Participants may have received trastuzumab and/or a taxane during the neo-adjuvant or adjuvant treatment. Participants were randomized in 1:1 ratio to receive either pertuzumab or placebo, along with trastuzumab and docetaxel once every 3 weeks (q3w), during the treatment phase of the study until investigator-assessed radiographic or clinical progressive disease, unmanageable toxicity, or study termination. Participants in the Placebo arm were not allowed to receive open-label pertuzumab after discontinuation from study treatment. However, if any analysis of overall survival had met the predefined criteria for statistical significance, participants in the Placebo arm still on treatment were offered the option to receive open-label pertuzumab in addition to other study medications.

This is a multicenter, randomized, double blind, double dummy, comparative, active-controlled trial designed to assess the analgesic activity and safety of intravenous doses of parecoxib 40 mg relative to intravenous doses of ketoprofen 100 mg for the treatment of renal colic in outpatients presenting at emergency room settings. This trial is designed to show non-inferiority of parecoxib related to ketoprofen.

The purpose of this trial is to compare the effectiveness, safety and tolerability of TMC278 given at a dose of 25 mg once daily versus efavirenz (EFV) at a dose of 600 mg once daily, when combined with a background regimen containing 2 nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors ( investigator choice of ABC/3TC, TDF/FTC or AZT/3TC) in HIV-1 infected patients who have not yet taken any anti-HIV drugs. The following evaluations will be done: antiviral activity, immunologic changes, and viral geno-/phenotype evolution, relationship of Pharmacokinetics (PK) and PK/Pharmacodynamics and Medical resource utilization and treatment adherence.

The main objective of the trial is to compare Invasive Disease-Free Survival (IDFS) of patients randomised to treatment with adjuvant chemotherapy alone or to adjuvant chemotherapy with 1 year of bevacizumab. The secondary objectives of this trial are to: - compare Overall Survival (OS), Breast Cancer-Free Interval (BCFI), Disease- Free Survival (DFS) and Distant Disease-Free Survival (DDFS) of patients randomised to treatment with adjuvant chemotherapy alone or to adjuvant chemotherapy in combination with 1 year of bevacizumab - evaluate the safety and tolerability of bevacizumab An exploratory sub-study (not reported here) was to identify biomarkers (from tumour or serum) predictive of toxicity and for the level of benefit from the addition of bevacizumab to standard adjuvant systemic treatment.
