Management of DE With IPL in Combination With DQS

Intense pulsed light (IPL) has been reported to improve signs and symptoms of dry eye (DE). Additionally, meibomian gland secretion of lipids has been observed to improve through the use of IPL. Diquafosol ophthalmic solution (DQS) stimulates P2Y2 receptors on the ocular surface, which enhances mucin secretion from goblet cells. Therefore, tear film stability and hydration of the ocular surface can be achieved independent from lacrimal glands function. The purpose of this prospective study was to evaluate and compare the effects of IPL (IPL group), DQS (DQS group) and IPL in combination with DQS (IPL+ group) in participants with persistent DE. Tear film lipid layer (TFLL), non-invasive breakup time (NITBUT), tear meniscus height (TMH), corneoconjunctival staining score (CS), meibum gland (MG) function, conjunctival hyperemia (RS score), ocular surface disease index (OSDI) will be assessed and compared at baseline, day-14, and day-28.

Preemptive Co-infiltration of Dexamethasone Palmitate With Ropivacaine for Postoperative Pain in Major Spinal Surgery

Patients undergoing major spinal surgery usually experience moderate-to-severe postoperative pain. Inadequate pain control may lead to severe complications. Dexamethasone as an adjunctive infiltration to local anesthesia (LA) presented a superior analgesic benefit compared with LA alone in various types of surgeries. However, a recent meta-analysis showed that the additional analgesic effect of dexamethasone in incision/wound infiltration was only statistically significant, but not clinically significant, and the overall benefits were marginal. Compared with dexamethasone, dexamethasone palmitate emulsion (DXP) is a targeted lipo-steroid with stronger anti-inflammatory effect, longer-acting duration and fewer adverse effects. To date, no studies have evaluated the additive analgesia effects of DXP on incision infiltration in major spinal surgery. The purpose of this trial is to determine whether preemptive co-infiltration of DXP emulsion and ropivacaine in surgical incision will further reduce postoperative opioid requirements and pain score after spinal surgery than that of ropivacaine alone.

Beijing faced a wave of omicron infection starting that would result in of a wide range of population infections. At which time there is limited evidence regarding the optimal timing of surgery following SARS-CoV-2 infection especially for omiron among Chinsese patients .This study intends to explore the relationship between the incidence of postoperative complications after elective surgery and COVID-19 infection in Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and provide data support for the policy formulation of elective surgical timing for patients after COVID-19 infection.

Bougies as Aid for Endotracheal Intubation Via Video Laryngoscopy During Continuous Chest Compressions

The goal of this clinical trials is to analyze the effects of using bougies as adjuncts on the performance of endotracheal intubation via video laryngoscopy during cardiopulmonary resuscitation in anesthesia residents. The main question it aims to answer is whether bougie use has a significant effect on first-attempt failure of endotracheal intubation via video laryngoscopy during continuous chest compressions. Participants will perform endotracheal intubation via video laryngoscopy by four methods in a randomized order in a simulated cardiopulmonary resuscitation scenario on a manikin. The four methods are endotracheal intubations assisted by a railroaded bougie, assisted by a preloaded bougie, assisted by a stylet, and with no assistance. Researchers will compare the first-attempt failure rate of the four methods to see if a railroaded bougie method has a significant different first-attempt failure from that of the other three methods.

To Evaluate Thrombosis Risk in Chemotherapy Patients With Solid Tumors Who Receiving Thrombocytopenia Treatment

Chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia (CIT) is a common hematological toxicity in patients with solid tumors undergo chemotherapy, which can increase the risk of bleeding, prolong hospital stay, increase medical costs, and even lead to death in severe cases. The incidence and severity of CIT varies among different chemotherapy regimens. Recombinant human interleukin-11 (rhIL-11) and recombinant human thrombopoietin (rhTPO) have been approved for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia. Tumor patients are at high risk for venous thromboembolism (VTE). In the clinical study of rhIL-11, it was found that the administration of rhIL-11 in healthy subjects caused an increase in the plasma concentration of vWF factor in the form of normal mults. The application of rhIL-11 in patients with myeloid leukemia can increase the concentration of α2 globulin, fibrinogen and prothrombin time. However, there have been no large-scale clinical studies at home and abroad to evaluate whether platelet raising therapy will increase the risk of thrombosis in chemotherapy patients with solid tumor. This study is aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of platelet upwelling therapy in patients with solid tumors undergoing chemotherapy.
