There are about 9403 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Switzerland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of long-term therapy with rosuvastatin compared with a placebo, and to evaluate whether treatment with rosuvastatin might be effective in reducing the risk of major cardiovascular events.
The primary objective was to compare the bronchodilator efficacy of two doses (5 mcg and 10 mcg) of tiotropium inhalation solution delivered by the Respimat inhaler once daily to placebo and to ipratropium bromide MDI four times daily in patients with COPD. The secondary objective was to compare the safety of tiotropium inhalation solution delivered by the Respimat to placebo and ipratropium bromide MDI.
The primary objective of this trial is to demonstrate that a fixed dose combination of telmisartan 80 mg plus hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg (T80/H25) is superior in reducing blood pressure after eight weeks compared with a fixed dose combination of telmisartan 80 mg plus hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg (T80/H12.5) in patients who fail to respond to six weeks treatment with T80/H12.5.
The aim of MYFORMS is to assess efficacy and safety on clinical outcomes of EC-MPS in combination with Cyclosporine microemulsion (CsA-ME) in kidney transplant recipients.
Clinical trial for the novo transplant recipients, which aims to assess tolerability and safety and clinical outcomes of EC-MPS in combination with cyclosporine microemulsion (CsA-ME) with or without steroids in a population of kidney transplant recipients.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Docetaxel and cisplatin may also make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. Giving docetaxel and cisplatin together with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving docetaxel and cisplatin together with radiation therapy works in treating patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer that cannot be removed by surgery.
RATIONALE: Rectal reconstruction after surgery to treat rectal cancer may help patients keep some of their bowel function. It is not yet known which method of rectal reconstruction is most effective after surgery. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying three different methods of rectal reconstruction to compare how well they work in treating patients who are undergoing surgery for rectal cancer.
RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies, such as trastuzumab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Estrogen can cause the growth of breast cancer cells. Hormone therapy using letrozole may fight breast cancer by lowering the amount of estrogen the body makes. Giving trastuzumab together with letrozole after disease progression may be an effective treatment for breast cancer. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving trastuzumab together with letrozole works in treating postmenopausal women with progressive advanced breast cancer.
RATIONALE: Specialized radiation therapy that delivers radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well radiation therapy works in treating young patients with gliomas.
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Gefitinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving radiation therapy together with either gefitinib or temozolomide may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well giving radiation therapy together with either gefitinib or temozolomide works in treating patients with non-small cell lung cancer and brain metastases.
