NCT ID: NCT00679731 Completed - Psoriasis Clinical Trials

A Study of Safety and Efficacy Comparing ABT-874 Versus Methotrexate in Subjects With Moderate to Severe Plaque Psoriasis

Start date: April 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study is being conducted to compare the efficacy of ABT-874 versus Methotrexate in subjects with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

NCT ID: NCT00677781 Completed - Clinical trials for Colorectal Neoplasms

Impact of Microparticles on Postoperative Complications in Surgical Patients

Start date: February 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Microparticles are cellular fragments which are released actively or passively under conditions of inflammation and stress. The impact of surgical operations on quantity and quality of microparticles remains unknown. In this observatory study we investigate quantitative and qualitative aspects of microparticles during cardiac and abdominal operations.

NCT ID: NCT00676715 Completed - Clinical trials for Multiple Sclerosis, Relapsing-Remitting

A Study of the Efficacy and Safety of Ocrelizumab in Patients With Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis

Start date: July 17, 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a phase II, multicenter, randomized, parallel-group, partially blinded, placebo and Avonex (interferon beta-1a) controlled dose finding study to evaluate the efficacy as measured by brain MRI lesions, and safety of 2 dose regimens of ocrelizumab in participants with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS).

NCT ID: NCT00676312 Completed - Clinical trials for Postmenopausal Osteoporosis

Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Effect of PTH134 at Increasing Doses in Healthy Postmenopausal Subjects

Start date: May 2008
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This study is designed to investigate the safety and tolerability of PTH134 in healthy subjects and to assess the exposure from PTH134.

NCT ID: NCT00676234 Completed - Acute Renal Failure Clinical Trials

Recombinant Human Erythropoietin Use in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Patients: Does it Prevent Acute Renal Failure

Start date: May 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Pilot study aiming to assess the effect of two doses of rhu EPO on urine NGAL concentration and on serum cystatin C and creatinine levels in critically ill patients at risk of ARF.

Study Evaluating the Safety and Efficacy of Bapineuzumab in Alzheimer Disease Patients

Start date: May 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of multiple doses of bapineuzumab in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer Disease. Patients will receive either bapineuzumab or placebo. Each patient's participation will last approximately 1.5 years.

NCT ID: NCT00675805 Completed - Clinical trials for Immunoglobulin Therapy

Preventing Intravenous Immunoglobulin-associated Adverse Reactions

Start date: May 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In patients treated with the monoclonal antibody infliximab (Remicade®) -which binds to and blocks tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) - an infusomat filter is routinely used to prevent the very same early adverse events observed in individuals receiving intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG). We recently used such a filter in a patient suffering from malaise and vomiting in the context of an IVIG substitution therapy. In this patient symptoms improved and IVIG-induced complement-activation was reduced (unpublished observation). Based on this simple observation we hypothesize that this simple and approved filter-system may be efficient in retaining complement-activating immunoglobulin G (IgG) aggregates in IVIG-preparations. This effect may reduce complement activation - and consecutive inflammation - thereby diminishing adverse events. In this prospective study we propose to investigate how complement activation and side effects after IVIG infusion relate in individuals receiving conventional (i.e. unfiltered) vs. filtered IVIG-preparations.

NCT ID: NCT00675181 Completed - Clinical trials for Vasospastic Syndrome

Effects of Melatonin and Oxygen Consumption and Choroidal Blood Flow

MelO2
Start date: May 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Does melatonin affect basal metabolic rate, increase choroidal blood flow and reduce the vasospastic syndrome (VS)? The main questions are: Do women with VS exhibit... - a different basal metabolic rate - a reduced choroidal blood flow - a reduced increase of oxygen consumption after intake of ice-water - a different oxygen consumption after melatonin intake - a different choroidal blood flow after melatonin intake - a different oxygen consumption after melatonin intake and after intake of ice-water….?

NCT ID: NCT00674544 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Influence of a Lifestyle Intervention in Preschool Children on Physiological and Psychological Parameters

Ballabeina
Start date: May 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Childhood obesity and low fitness tracks into adulthood and carries significant co-morbidities. The investigators test the hypothesis that a multidisciplinary multilevel lifestyle intervention in preschool children in the French and German speaking part of Switzerland during one school-year results in a smaller increase in body mass index (BMI) and a larger increase in aerobic fitness.

NCT ID: NCT00673504 Completed - Pancreatic Cancer Clinical Trials

Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Primary objective: to evaluate whether the addition of sunitinib prolongates the Progression-Free Survival (PFS) in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer receiving first-line gemcitabine chemotherapy.
