To combat iron deficiency in Low and Middle-Income Countries, sustainable food-based solutions have to be implemented to serve populations, not only individuals. One solution is the introduction of iron biofortified staple crops on market level. Before market level introduction, the bioavailability of iron in the new biofortified Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) breed needs to be assessed. In this study the investigator compares the fractional and total iron absorption after extrinsic stable isotope labelling of the new biofortified high iron OFSP variety and a normal market level OFSP variety. The study is conducted in Malawian women of reproductive age with marginal iron status.

Vessel Density in nAMD After Longterm Anti-VEGF Treatment Compared to Recently Started Anti-VEGF Treatment

Neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) is characterized by the abnormal growth of blood vessels from the choroid into the subretinal space which leads to sub- and intraretinal fluid accumulation, hemorrhages and subretinal fibrosis with progressive loss of central vision. Intravitreal anti-VEGF treatment is the standard of care. Intravitreal anti-VEGF application might temporarily increase intraocular pressure due to a volume effect. It remains unclear if repeated injections might have an impact on retinal capillary perfusion. Therefore this study aims to investigate the vascular microcirculation differences between patients who received longterm intravitreal Anti-VEGF treatment and patients who recently started Anti-VEGF treatment using Optical Coherence tomography Angiography (OCTA).

Despite the strong association of hyperparathyroidism with arachidonic acid related lipid signals, little research has been performed over the years. A better understanding of the link between arachidonic acid remodeling, prostaglandin and endocannabinoid production with primary hyperparathyroidism in primary tissue/cells might open up new avenues for biomarker and thus to a potential therapeutic target. Arachidonic acid remodeling might also have an impact on depression and elevated cytokines in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism. The investigators therefore will assess the correlation between postoperative improvement of PHQ-9 and cytokine levels with arachidonic acid remodeling.

Scaling-up Psychological Interventions With Syrian Refugees in Switzerland

The current refugee crisis across the Middle East and Europe has large effects on individual refugees' psychological well-being, as well as on the healthcare systems of countries hosting refugees. For example, in Switzerland patients sometimes have to wait up to 12 months for the specific psychological treatment due to a lack of specialists. To address this problem the WHO has developed Problem Management Plus (PM+), a brief (five sessions), low-intensity psychological intervention, delivered by paraprofessionals, that addresses common mental disorders in people in communities affected by adversity. The feasibility of PM+ has never been examined in Switzerland before, this is the aim of the current pilot study.

Multi-centre clinical follow-up study on patients with a history of acute haematogenous osteomyelitis and/or septic arthritis. The aim is to describe the frequency of sequelae in these former patients with osteoarticular infections. Patients will be invited to participate in a single follow-up visit including a standardised interview and a clinical examination. The collected data will be analyzed together with data from the patient's hospital stay.

The "Elosan Cabin" is a closed, electrically insulated, biocompatible cabin for the short-term application of electrostatic high voltage in patients with chronic pain, especially those with rheumatic diseases. Patients assigned to the Elosan group (group A) will have 8 sessions in the Elosan cabin, with an interval of 3 to 4 days between sessions. Patients assigned to the control group (group B) will have no treatment except for the continuation of their prescribed pain medication and pain therapy.
