There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This is a double-blind, multi-centre, randomised, 5-arm, vehicle-controlled, parallel-group trial. The trial is designed to establish a dose-response signal and investigate the efficacy and safety of delgocitinib cream in the treatment of adult subjects with mild to severe atopic dermatitis (AD).
Iron deficiency anemia is a global health problem and the most common cause of anemia worldwide. Patients with iron deficiency (ID) and IDA can present with a multitude of symptoms including fatigue, restless legs syndrome and pica.Oral iron supplementation is associated with increasing hemoglobin in multiple studies in women, pregnant women and elderly patients. However, the optimal dose and frequency of oral iron supplementation for treatment remains unclear. The current proposed study attempts to address this gap in the literature.
This study consists of two periods. The objective of Period 1 is to evaluate the efficacy of upadacitinib in combination with a 26-week corticosteroid (CS) taper regimen compared to placebo in combination with a 52-week CS taper regimen, as measured by the proportion of participants in sustained remission at Week 52, and to assess the safety and tolerability of upadacitinib in participants with giant cell arteritis (GCA). The objective of period 2 is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of continuing versus withdrawing upadacitinib in maintaining remission in participants who achieved sustained remission in Period 1.
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of pembrolizumab (MK-3475) versus placebo in combination with neoadjuvant (pre-surgery) chemotherapy and adjuvant (post-surgery) endocrine therapy in the treatment of adults who have high-risk early-stage estrogen receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (ER+/HER2-) breast cancer. The primary study hypotheses are: 1) pembrolizumab is superior to placebo, both in combination with the protocol-specified neoadjuvant anticancer therapy, as assessed by pathological Complete Response (pCR) rate defined by the local pathologist, and 2) pembrolizumab is superior to placebo (both in combination with the protocol-specified neoadjuvant and adjuvant anticancer therapies) as assessed by Event-Free Survival (EFS) as determined by the investigator. The study is considered to have met its primary objective if pembrolizumab is superior to placebo with respect to either pCR (ypT0/Tis ypN0) or EFS.
This is a study to evaluate pharmacokinetics, safety and tolerability of upadacitinib in pediatric participants with polyarticular course juvenile idiopathic arthritis. This study consists of three parts: Part 1 is multiple-cohort study that consists of two sequential multiple dose groups. Participants benefiting from the study drug with no ongoing adverse events of special interest or serious adverse events will have option to enroll in Part 2. Part 2 is open-label, long term extension study to evaluate safety and tolerability. Part 3 is an additional safety cohort to evaluate long-term safety and tolerability.
The objectives of the investigators are to demonstrate a reduction in frequency and symptoms of AF and improvements in cardiovascular risk factors following a lifestyle intervention in patients with paroxysmal AF. Participants will be randomized into control or intervention groups. The intervention will receive step trackers, diet counselling, an exercise program, and risk factor modification consultations. Controls will receive step trackers and care as usual. Testing will occur at baseline, six months, and one year.
This study is a multi-centre interventional study at seven tertiary paediatric surgery centres in Ghana, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania aimed at reducing mortality from gastroschisis.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate associations between neuronal damage biomarkers (S100 calcium-binding protein beta [S-100β], neuron-specific enolase [NSE], ubiquitin carboxy-terminal hydrolase L1 [UCHL1], and brain-derived neurotropic factor [BDNF]) and delirium severity and subsyndromal delirium in a homogeneous population of mechanically ventilated patients with sepsis.
This study is a prospective cohort study, following 80 morbidly obese patients undergoing bariatric surgery, specifically Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). The investigators are measuring intestinal microbiota (IM) and oral microbiota (OM) at the beginning before any treatment, at the time of surgery, which is after a very low calorie standard diet, and 1 and 6 months after surgery. The investigators assess whether changes in IM are related to changes in insulin resistance (IR), other features of the metabolic syndrome (MetS) and OM.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) response in a real-world patient population and evaluate options to address non-response and patient management.
