There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
This is a pilot randomized controlled trial to assess the feasibility of a home-based Nintendo Wii Fit program (Wii.n.Walk) to improve walking capacity in older adults with a lower limb amputation. Twenty four individuals with a unilateral below-knee or above-knee amputation will be randomly allocated to Wii.n.Walk or control arm. The Wii.n.Walk arm will receive aerobics, weight-shifting, balance games and exercises using the Wii Fit gaming technology. The control arm will receive cognitive computer games and exercises using Wii Big Brain Academy Degree program. Both groups will receive the intervention for 40-minute sessions, 3x/week for 4 weeks. The interventions will be conducted in combinations of in-clinic group (n=3) training and individualized in-home training. Outcome measurements will be completed by a blinded evaluator at baseline, end of treatment, and 3 weeks after the end of treatment. Hypothesis: Our primary hypothesis is that Wii.n.Walk is feasible. Our primary clinical hypothesis is that participants in the Wii.n.Walk intervention group will experience an improvement in walking capacity compared to the control group. The secondary clinical hypothesis is that participants in the Wii.n.Walk group will experience an improvement in balance confidence, physical activity, number of steps taken per day, walking while talking, lower limb functioning, and locomotor capabilities.
In an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycle super ovulating drugs (gonadotropins) are usually taken to stimulate the ovaries to produce more than one egg. In Vitro Fertilization protocols are constantly under review in order to improve the recruitment of the follicles, which contain the eggs, whilst minimizing the doses of gonadotrophins required, with the ultimate aim of increasing the live birth rate.
The purpose of this study is to determine if newly diagnosed (within previous 3 months) participants with metastatic (spread of cancer cells from one part of the body to another ) hormone-naive prostate cancer (mHNPC) who have high-risk prognostic factors will benefit from the addition of abiraterone acetate plus low-dose prednisone to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT; lutenizing hormone releasing hormone [LHRH] agonists or surgical castration).
Older adults with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia frequently develop challenging neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) as a result of their illness. Non-pharmacological strategies to manage these symptoms such as music, exercise, and participating in pleasant social events have been demonstrated to be safe and effective strategies to reduce these behavioral symptoms. Our project, Volunteers Adding Life in Dementia (VALID), will design and implement a volunteer-led program to reduce behavioral symptoms and improve the quality of life of older adults with dementia who are residing in long-term care facilities.
Participants will be taking 3 mg/kg ipilimumab intravenously over a 90-minute period every 3 weeks for a total of four doses. Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs)will be analyzed for functional characteristics.
In Canadian men, prostate cancer (PCa) is the most prevalent form of cancer and the third leading cause of cancer-related death. Unfortunately, PCa survivors are often burdened with feelings of anxiety and depression associated with the disease and associated treatments. Short-term exercise interventions (8-24 weeks) have improved psychosocial well-being in this population, but the impact of single bouts of exercise and related psychological or neurological changes have never been studied. The primary objective of the proposed study is to examine the effect of an acute bout of exercise on neurophysiological and psychological indicators of well-being in a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of 36 men with PCa. Participants will be randomly assigned to the intervention (60 min exercise) or control (60 min of television) and will undergo a brief neurological test (cortical silent period) and psychological questionnaires before and after their group assignment.
To assess the safety and tolerability and preliminary anti-tumor activity of lirilumab (BMS-986015) given in combination with nivolumab (BMS-936558) and to identify dose limiting toxicities (DLTs) and the maximally tolerated dose (MTD) of the combination. In addition, to assess the combinations of lirilumab and nivolumab or lirilumab and nivolumab plus ipilimumab (BMS-734016) in subjects with advanced (metastatic and/or unresectable) refractory solid tumors.
The study is designed to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of MEDI2070 as compared to placebo. Investigational product will be administered as intravenous infusion in double-blind period, and as a subcutaneous injection in open-label period
This study is being conducted to further investigate the safety of prolonged exposure to EVP-6124 in subjects with Schizophrenia receiving a stable dose of an atypical antipsychotic who completed double-blind treatment on studies EVP-6124-015 and EVP-6124-016.
The purpose of this study is to determine if EVP-6124 (an alpha-7 nAChR agonist) enhances the cognitive abilities of subjects with Schizophrenia who are also taking stable antipsychotic therapy.
