NCT ID: NCT01894789 Completed - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Ticagrelor vs Clopidogrel Effect on MFR in CAD Population

PATH
Start date: March 2013
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Ticagrelor is one of 3 anti-platelet medications used in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) to prevent further clot formation and further ischemic damage to myocardial tissue. Overall benefits of one drug over the other is neutral in this generally unstable population. In pre-clinical trials, ticagrelor showed secondary effects, involving the release of adenosine to heart muscle where the demand for blood was increased due to a stress condition. Blood flow was increased, potentially preventing potential damage. This study will compare ticagrelor, currently only approved for use in ACS patients, against clopidogrel by measuring the myocardial blood flow(MBF) during stress to validate this phenomenon. The effect on blood flow will be measurable by using two specific doses of adenosine as the pharmacologic stress and correlating with measurements of blood flow using positron emission tomography (PET) nuclear imaging. This study hypothesizes that the increase in MBF during intermediate dose adenosine infusion will be greater in ticagrelor treated subjects compared to clopidogrel treated subjects

NCT ID: NCT01894776 Completed - HIV Infection Clinical Trials

A Drug Interaction Study Investigating the Effect of Rifabutin on the Pharmacokinetics of Maraviroc

RIFAMARA
Start date: June 2013
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Healthy volunteers are being recruited for this pharmacokinetics study. The objective is to characterize the pharmacokinetic properties of maraviroc alone and when administered with rifabutin and to assess rifabutin and 25-O-desacetyl-rifabutin pharmacokinetics compared to the literature.

NCT ID: NCT01894620 Completed - Alzheimer's Disease Clinical Trials

The Effect of rTMS Treatment on Alzheimer's and Sleep Quality

rTMS
Start date: May 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This research is being conducted to study whether rTMS (repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) could be potentially used as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease. rTMS is a technique that stimulates the brain by rapidly switching a magnetic field in a coil placed over your head. Prior to rTMS, single pulse TMS will be used to localize the specific brain region that we are interested in.

NCT ID: NCT01894022 Completed - Hypertension Clinical Trials

A Open Label Study to Assess the Long-term Safety, Tolerability and Efficacy of Ambrisentan in Subjects With Inoperable Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH)

AMBER II
Start date: January 2014
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is an open label, long term extension to Study AMB115811. All subjects may remain in the extension study for a minimum of 18 months. Beyond the 18-month period, subjects may continue in the extension study until one of the following: - The product is approved locally for use in inoperable CTEPH patients; - Development for use in the CTEPH population is discontinued or product is not approved by the local regulatory authorities - The investigator decides to discontinue the subject or subject decides to discontinue from the study. The primary purpose of this study is to provide clinically relevant information on the long term safety of ambrisentan in subjects with inoperable CTEPH.

NCT ID: NCT01893645 Completed - Clinical trials for Hemoglobin Levels in Blood

Pronto-7: Accuracy of Non-invasive Hemoglobin Measurement in Parturients

Pronto-7
Start date: June 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The measurement of blood hemoglobin (Hb) concentration is a routine procedure in pregnant women. The assessment of Hb involves several steps, including a needle stick, blood collection, blood sample analysis in the laboratory, and waiting for the results. Pronto-7 (manufactured by Masimo, CA, USA) is a new portable device that allows a quick bedside Hb spot check. A finger clip probe, similar to the standard oxygen finger clip probe, provides hemoglobin values in less than 60 seconds. In this prospective observational study the investigators will assess the clinical accuracy of Pronto-7 derived Hb values compared to the gold standard laboratory Hb values in obstetric patients. We will be calculating the mean difference between Pronto-7 and laboratory Hb values. We plan to recruit 55 pregnant women admitted for vaginal or cesarean delivery at BC Women's Hospital.

NCT ID: NCT01893190 Completed - Clinical trials for Ruptured Cerebral Aneurysm

Safety and Tolerability Study of EG-1962 in Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

NEWTON
Start date: September 2013
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Phase 1/2a Multicenter, Controlled, Randomized, Open Label, Dose Escalation, Safety, Tolerability, and Pharmacokinetic Study Comparing EG-1962 and Nimodipine in Patients with Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

NCT ID: NCT01892436 Completed - Psoriatic Arthritis Clinical Trials

Extension Study up to 3 Years for Secukinumab in Psoriatic Arthritis

FUTURE 1 ext
Start date: September 30, 2013
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study was designed as a 3-year extension to the phase III core study CAIN457F2306. It aimed to provide continuous treatment with secukinumab in pre-filled syringes (PFS) for subjects who completed the core study CAIN457F2306, to obtain further long term efficacy, safety and tolerability information in subjects with active psoriatic arthritis receiving secukinumab every 4 weeks. At Week 104 of the study CAIN457F2306, eligible subjects completed the assessments associated with the core study visit and subsequently continued in this extension study on the same dose that they were receiving during the core study. The regular assessments of disease activity ensure that subjects who are experienced worsening of disease in any of the treatment groups could exit the study upon their own wish or based on the advice of the investigator at any time.
