There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Correct endotracheal tube (ETT) placement is important. Proper ETT position is achieved when the distal tip is in mid-trachea with the head in neutral alignment. Unrecognized tube misplacement is an uncommon but significant cause of hypoxemia and death during general anesthesia as well as in the care of critically ill patients. Hypotheses: A specific manoeuvre to palpate the inflated ETT cuff, with fingers anterior to the trachea, moving the ETT caudally then rostrally following intubation, will enable correct depth placement of the tip of the ETT within the trachea (more than 2.5cm above the carina with cuff below the vocal cords) more frequently than routine care. This will not cause tissue damage as measured by sore throat.
This study will prospectively assess long term heath related quality of life in chronic migraine patients currently being treated with OnabotulinumtoxinA for injection (BOTOX®) as standard of care.
To determine if treatment with cisplatin and radiation followed by carbo and taxol reduces the rate of recurrence when compared to sandwich therapy.
The purpose of this study is to understand whether consuming flaxseed for approximately 50 days may beneficially affect the level of certain hormones in the blood thought to be involved in the development of breast cancer. This study will address the first steps toward the development of possible breast cancer prevention strategies. Differences in hormone levels (from blood samples) will be compared between two groups of women - those in the group assigned to eating ground flaxseed daily and those in the control group (with no change in diet).
Objective: To determine if atomoxetine 40 mg bid (bis in die) in patients ≥18 years old with recurrent vasovagal syncope will better prevent syncope during tilt testing than placebo.
This trial is conducted in Asia, Europe and North America. The purpose is to confirm efficacy in terms of glycaemic control of treatment with mealtime faster-acting insulin aspart in combination with insulin degludec in adults with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a repeat dose administration of ATIR101 is safe and effective when infused in patients with a hematologic malignancy following a T-cell depleted stem cell graft from a related haploidentical donor. All patients are planned to receive two ATIR101 doses of 2×10E6 viable T-cells/kg, unless the second dose is reduced or halted for safety reasons.
This is a 1-week dispensing, double-masked, randomized, bilateral study comparing the test lens against the control lens.
The purpose of this study is to assess the risk of serious cardiac events, specifically ventricular tachyarrhythmia and sudden cardiac death (VT/SCD), associated with the use of domperidone in a population of patients with Parkinson's disease. The hypothesis for this study is that the risk of VT/SCD will be higher among domperidone users, especially at a higher dose. The investigators will conduct a retrospective population-based cohort study using health care databases in eight jurisdictions in Canada and the UK. The study cohort will be defined by the initiation of a new antiparkinsonian drug or a new diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. The results from the separate sites will be combined by meta-analysis to provide an overall assessment of the risk of VT/SCD in users of domperidone.
The purpose of this trial is to compare the effects of TAS-102 and best supportive care (BSC) with Placebo (an inactive drug) and best supportive care on metastatic gastric cancer.
