NCT ID: NCT01158937 Terminated - Clinical trials for Cystic Fibrosis Pulmonary Exacerbation

Pharmacokinetic Study of Extended Infusion Meropenem in Adult Cystic Fibrosis Patients

Start date: May 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Meropenem is an intravenous antibiotic commonly used to treat acute exacerbation of respiratory infections in cystic fibrosis. The research study aims to determine if a different method of infusing the drug over 3 hours or longer, instead of the traditional half-hour will improve target attainment of drug concentrations and bactericidal activity. A secondary aim is to assess if the pharmacokinetics of meropenem is different during active infection compared to non-infective stage. Twelve patients admitted with acute respiratory infection and who requires meropenem will be enrolled into the study. Meropenem blood concentrations collected over 8 hours will be measured after half-hour and 3-hour infusions on different days. A pharmacokinetic modelling and Monte Carlo simulation program will use the data to assess and predict the optimal method of dosing. When patients return for a follow-up clinic visit, a single dose of meropenem will be administered and blood concentrations will be measured to determine the pharmacokinetics during non-infective stage.

NCT ID: NCT01157546 Terminated - Postoperative Pain Clinical Trials

TAP Block for Open Radical Prostatectomy.

Start date: August 2010
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This is a prospective, double blind, randomized study is proposed in patients undergoing open radical prostatectomy: its objective is to establish whether continuous bilateral TAP blocks would provide adequate perioperative analgesia, decrease opioid consumption, reduce the incidence of opioid-related side effects, and facilitate surgical recovery (in terms of PACU and hospital discharge).

NCT ID: NCT01151449 Terminated - Clinical trials for Stage IV Breast Cancer

Gamma-secretase/Notch Signalling Pathway Inhibitor RO4929097 in Treating Patients With Advanced, Metastatic, or Recurrent Triple Negative Invasive Breast Cancer

Start date: June 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This phase II clinical trial studies how well gamma-secretase/Notch signalling pathway inhibitor RO4929097 works in treating patients with advanced, metastatic, or recurrent triple negative invasive breast cancer. Gamma-secretase/Notch signalling pathway inhibitor RO4929097 may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.

NCT ID: NCT01151215 Terminated - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Study of Anastrozole +/- AZD8931 in Postmenopausal Women With Endocrine Therapy Naive Breast Cancer

MINT
Start date: June 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The main purpose of this study is to compare progression free survival in patients treated with AZD8931 given in combination with anastrozole versus anastrozole alone. The secondary objective is to investigate the safety and tolerability of AZD8931 given in combination with anastrozole.

NCT ID: NCT01151137 Terminated - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials

Permanent Atrial fibriLLAtion Outcome Study Using Dronedarone on Top of Standard Therapy

PALLAS
Start date: July 2010
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Primary Objective: - Demonstrate the efficacy of Dronedarone in preventing major cardiovascular events (stroke, systemic arterial embolism, myocardial infarction or cardiovascular death) or unplanned cardiovascular hospitalization or death from any cause in patients with permanent Atrial Fibrillation [AF] and additional risk factors Secondary Objective: - Demonstrate the efficacy of Dronedarone in preventing cardiovascular death This was an event-driven study where a common study end date [CSED] was to be determined by Steering Committee based on the number of events (stroke, systemic arterial embolism, myocardial infarction or cardiovascular death).

NCT ID: NCT01150890 Terminated - Crohn's Disease Clinical Trials

Brodalumab (AMG 827) in Adults With Moderate to Severe Crohn's Disease

Start date: November 9, 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The study will examine the safety and effectiveness of brodalumab for the treatment of moderate to severe Crohn's disease. Participants will randomly assigned to receive either brodalumab or placebo (a lookalike liquid that doesn't have any drug in it) and neither the doctor nor the patient will know what treatment is being given.

NCT ID: NCT01148186 Terminated - Anxiety Clinical Trials

An Intervention Study to Reduce the Use and Impact of Potentially Inappropriate Medications Among Older Adults

Start date: June 2010
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

An educational intervention targeting community-dwelling older adults will lead to a reduction in potentially inappropriate prescriptions (e.g. benzodiazepines, oxybutynin). Cessation of potentially inappropriate medications (e.g. benzodiazepines, oxybutynin)will lead to improved cognitive outcomes in older adults.

NCT ID: NCT01148134 Terminated - Clinical trials for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Pharmacokinetic Profile of Vincristine Administered With Imatinib for Bcr-Abl Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) Compared to That Without Imatinib for Bcr-Abl Negative ALL

Start date: June 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This study is characterizing the pharmacokinetics of vincristine using two different cohorts of patients. The first cohort includes patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) that are Bcr-Abl positive. This cohort of patients will receive vincristine along with imatinib in the induction chemotherapy regimen. The second cohort includes patients with ALL that are Bcr-Abl negative. This cohort of patients will receive vincristine without imatinib in the induction chemotherapy regimen. This study involves blood draws beginning on day 7 of the treatment protocol and these samples will be analyzed for pharmacokinetic parameters. Imatinib and vincristine are both metabolized by the hepatic CYP 450 enzyme system. Imatinib is an inhibitor of the system and co-administration of imatinib and vincristine has the potential to increase the blood level of vincristine. This could explain the increased level of neurotoxicity that is currently being seen with the co-administration of these two agents in the treatment of Bcr-Abl positive ALL.

NCT ID: NCT01147536 Terminated - Clinical trials for Renal Cell Carcinoma

Study of Vitespen (HSPPC-96, Oncophage ®) for Immune Response Assessment in Participants With Resectable Renal Cell Carcinoma at Intermediate Risk of Recurrence

Start date: January 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of the study is to determine whether participants exhibit a measurable immune response after multiple administrations of HSPPC-96 (heat shock protein-peptide complex 96), as assessed by enzyme linked immunosorbent spot (ELISPOT) assay.

NCT ID: NCT01147458 Terminated - Clinical trials for Osteoarthritis, Knee

A Study Of The Safety And Efficacy Of PF-04191834 In Patients With Osteoarthritis Of The Knee

Start date: July 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

PF-04191834 works in animal models by inhibiting one of the enzymes, 5-lipoxygenasein which is involved in the pathway that causes inflammation and pain. The purpose of this study is to test how effective, safe and tolerated PF-04191834 is in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee by itself or with naproxen, particularly to test if patients have less pain.
