The population of type 1 diabetes patients with cardiovascular disease is increasing and this study aims to explore the electrocardiographic changes that are associated with spontaneous hypoglycemia in this type of population. More precisely, this study will investigate if these modifications are of the same nature as those already observed in different populations (patients with type 2 diabetes) to see the pro-arrhythmogenic impact of hypoglycemia in patients with type 1 diabetes.
This is a randomized, open-label, controlled, multi-center, global Phase III study to determine the efficacy and safety of combining durvalumab ± tremelimumab with standard of care (SoC) chemotherapy (cisplatin + gemcitabine or carboplatin + gemcitabine doublet) followed by durvalumab monotherapy versus SoC alone as first-line chemotherapy in patients with histologically or cytologically documented, unresectable, locally advanced or metastatic transitional cell carcinoma of the urothelium (including renal pelvis, ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra).
The primary purpose of this clinical investigation is to establish the performance of the GenePOC Carba assay on the revogene. This will be achieved by comparing the test to a conventional method for detection of Carbapenemase Producing Organisms (CPOs) in rectal swab samples.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of EB01 Cream (0.2%, 1.0%, 2.0%) applied twice per day (BID) for the treatment of moderate to severe chronic allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). The purpose of the open label extension is to assess the long-term safety, tolerability, and efficacy of EB01 2.0% cream in subjects with moderate to severe chronic allergic contact dermatitis.
Although asthma is a disease of the airways, research is now showing that asthmatics are more likely to develop cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to non-asthmatics. Vascular dysfunction is seen in people at high risk of CVD and has been linked to inflammation. During an asthma attack, levels of inflammation in the whole body increase, which could potentially explain why asthmatics are at increased risk of CVD. In the proposed study the investigators will examine if asthma attacks lead to increased risk of CVD by evaluating inflammatory levels and vascular function directly following asthma attacks, 2 days and 14 days after discharge. The investigators will compare these results to non-asthmatics. The results from this study will help us understand why asthmatics are at increased risk of CVD.
The overall objective of the proposal is to examine the association between depression and the newly reported "motoric cognitive risk" (MCR) syndrome, which is a pre-dementia syndrome combining subjective cognitive complaint (i.e.; memory complaint) with objective slow gait speed, in the Canadian population, with the baseline assessment of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA). The Canadian and global population are continuously aging. Moreover, the number of individuals affected by dementia is on the rise. One good predictor of dementia is Motoric Cognitive Risk (MCR) syndrome. MCR syndrome is a highly prevalent, newly defined syndrome that combines slow gait and subjective cognitive complaint. Depression is also highly prevalent in the older population and can affect both cognition and gait. Thus, an overlap between MCR and depression is possible. Yet few studies have examined the association between MCR and depression, thus emphasizing the importance of further investigating this association. This project encompasses determining the association of MCR syndrome with depression in the Canadian context as a step to better understand MCR syndrome in Canada.
Cognition and locomotion are two human abilities controlled by the brain. Their decline is highly prevalent with aging, and is greater than the simple sum of their respective prevalence, suggesting a complex age-related interplay between cognition and locomotion. Recently, a systematic review and meta-analysis has provided evidence that poor gait performance predicts dementia and, in particular, has demonstrated that "motoric cognitive risk" (MCR) syndrome, which has been described in cognitively healthy individuals and combines subjective cognitive complaint with objective slow gait speed, is a pre-dementia syndrome. The uniqueness of "motoric cognitive risk" (MCR)syndrome is that it does not rely on a complex evaluation or laboratory investigations. Thus, it is easy to apply in population-based settings. The overall objective of the proposal is to examine the epidemiology of the newly reported "motoric cognitive risk" (MCR) syndrome, in the Quebec population using the database of the NuAge study.
GSK-3β is a potentially important therapeutic target in human malignancies. The Actuate 1801 Phase 1/2 study is designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of 9-ING-41, a potent GSK-3β inhibitor, as a single agent and in combination with cytotoxic agents, in patients with refractory cancers.
This research project will test two new computerized technologies in the detection of brain changes related to Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and dementia due to Alzheimer's disease. These technologies are: 1. Computerized cognitive battery: Cognigram (CG) Computerized assessments have multiple advantages for the early detection of subtle changes in cognition in older adults. One of their main advantages is their higher precision when measuring accuracy and speed of responses, compared to pencil-and-paper tests. They also allow a greater reliability in measures, as tests are given in a standardized format without the interference of an evaluator. Finally, by including automatized instructions and reports, they are suitable for off-site or long-distance use. The present study aims to validate the Cognigram™ (CG) computerized cognitive tool, in a prospective and longitudinal fashion, determining if changes in the CG scores over 3, 6, 9, and 12 months, can predict progression to dementia at 1-year, 2-years, and 3-years, for patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). 2. The NeuroCatch™ Platform (NCP) Event-related potentials (ERP) are non-invasive, low-cost, electrophysiological methods that allow recording of the electrical activity of the brain in vivo through an Electroencephalogram (EGG). They are free from cultural and educational influence and can provide insights into the cognitive processes. ERP could enable to detect brain changes and determine the prognosis of MCI subjects. The NCP, an investigational medical device system developed by NeuroCatch Inc., consists of an EEG software and hardware that captures brain health information. It offers a quick (i.e., 10 minutes for EEG preparation and 6 minutes for each task of EEG recording), simple (i.e., includes only 8 electrodes), and easy-to-use solution (i.e., includes a computerized software that automatically analyzes data and outputs graphs in less than 1 minute) for the acquisition of EEG and ERP.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of pembrolizumab (MK-3745) in combination with chemotherapy (Cisplatin combined with 5-Fluorouracil [FP regimen] or oxaliplatin combined with capecitabine [CAPOX regimen]) versus placebo in combination with chemotherapy (FP or CAPOX regimens) in the treatment of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) negative advanced gastric or GEJ adenocarcinoma in adult participants. The primary hypotheses of this study are that pembrolizumab plus chemotherapy is superior to placebo plus chemotherapy in terms of overall survival (OS).
