NCT ID: NCT00309634 Completed - Influenza Clinical Trials

Study to Evaluate the Safety and Immunogenicity of a Pandemic Influenza Vaccine in Adults Aged Between 18 and 60 Years

Start date: March 27, 2006
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Today, the leading contender for the next pandemic of influenza is H5N1, a strain of avian virus. Prevention and control of a pandemic will depend on the rapid production and worldwide distribution of specific pandemic vaccines. Candidate 'pandemic-like' vaccines must be developed and tested in clinical trials to determine the most optimal formulation and the best vaccination schedule. This study is designed to test in healthy adults aged between 18-60 years the reactogenicity and immunogenicity of one and two administrations of a candidate pandemic H5N1 vaccine formulated from Split Virus. The vaccines contain different antigen doses . For each dose, adjuvanted vaccine will be compared to the plain vaccine in order to detect the optimal formulation for immunization against the H5N1 influenza strain.

NCT ID: NCT00309205 Completed - HIV Infections Clinical Trials

A Safety Study of Dapivirine (TMC120) Vaginal Microbicide Gel in Belgium

Start date: December 2005
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Approximately 36 HIV-negative women, aged >18 and < 50, will be enrolled in this study. Each volunteer will have a 2:1 chance of receiving dapivirine gel versus placebo. The volunteers will receive investigational product for a total of 42 days.

NCT ID: NCT00308581 Completed - Crohn's Disease Clinical Trials

Certolizumab in Crohn's Disease Patients With Loss of Response or Intolerance to Infliximab

Start date: April 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To assess the clinical efficacy of subcutaneous (sc) certolizumab pegol administration over 26 weeks in patients suffering from Crohn's Disease (CD) and previously treated with infliximab

NCT ID: NCT00307528 Completed - Clinical trials for Prophylaxis Invasive Pneumococcal Diseases and Pneumonia

Safety and Efficacy Study of Investigational Pneumococcal Vaccine in Elderly Population

Start date: January 20, 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

As the licensed Pneumovax 23™ vaccine is not always satisfactory in elderly subjects, the safety and the immune response of the new investigational pneumococcal protein vaccine is evaluated in healthy elderly population.

NCT ID: NCT00306839 Completed - Inguinal Hernia Clinical Trials

Efficacy Study of Tissucol/Tisseel Fibrin Sealant to Treat Inguinal Hernia

Start date: February 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the study is to evaluate mid and long term postoperative pain and further disabling complications in open inguinal hernia repair by Lichtenstein technique after mesh fixation with fibrin sealant (FS), compared to mesh fixation with sutures.

NCT ID: NCT00306696 Completed - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

Examining the Effect of Different Diuretics on Fluid Retention in Diabetics Treated With Rosiglitazone.

Start date: October 2002
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Study examining the effect of different diuretics on fluid retention in diabetics treated with rosiglitazone.

NCT ID: NCT00306215 Completed - Crohn's Disease Clinical Trials

A Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of CCX282-B in Subjects With Moderate to Severe Crohn's Disease

Start date: March 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine whether CCX282-B is effective in treating patients with moderate to severe Crohn's Disease.

NCT ID: NCT00306046 Completed - Clinical trials for Paget's Disease of Bone

18F-Fluoride Positron Emission Tomography (PET) in Paget's Disease of Bone

Start date: February 2002
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

18 F-fluoride Positron emission tomography (PET) is able to demonstrate and quantify the metabolic activity locally in the skeleton (1). This technique should, therefore, also be able to demonstrate a dramatic decrease in the metabolic activity in localized monostotic Paget’s disease lesions after therapy. In this condition, indeed, the usual biological markers may be unhelpful to assess the efficacy of therapy, because they are usually comprised in the normal range for single pagetic localizations, even before therapy (2). The main purpose of this trial is to assess the early and long term response of pagetic bone to bisphosphonate therapy.

NCT ID: NCT00303329 Completed - Anemia Clinical Trials

Extension Study of Iron Chelation Therapy With Deferasirox in β-thalassemia and Rare Chronic Anemia Patients

Start date: March 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

A 1-year randomized Phase II core trial was conducted to investigate the efficacy of deferasirox in regularly transfused patients with β-thalassemia and other rare chronic anemia 2 years of age and older. Patients who successfully completed the main trial may continue in the extension trial to receive chelation therapy with deferasirox for up to 3 years. Extension was prolonged to 4 years. The objective of this study is to assess the long-term safety and efficacy of deferasirox in these patient groups.

NCT ID: NCT00300781 Completed - Neoplasms Clinical Trials

Study Evaluating HKI-272 (Neratinib) In Subjects With Advanced Breast Cancer

Start date: August 4, 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to learn whether neratinib is safe and effective in treating women with advanced human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) positive breast cancer.
