- The Study analyses the influence of selected factors on adherence to Betaferon treatment in patients with early multiple sclerosis (MS). The Investigator will document the relevant medical data regarding multiple sclerosis at every hospital visit, the patient will fill in two questionnaires at every visit: one about coping with the disease and the other about anxiety and depression. - The Study particularly looks at the role of the support of the patient given by the multiple sclerosis nurses. The nurse will provide additional standardised information at start of treatment and will regularly phone the patient to ask standardised questions about the general condition with regard to the treatment, the disease and social support. At the end of the Study it will be assessed if the supportive measures and the standards in terms of adherence management in the hospital have some influence to increase long-term treatment adherence.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate if percutaneous drainage of sterile fluid collections recurring after initial aspiration in acute pancreatitis yielded better results than their conservative management.
A randomized, double-blind, clinical trial to assess the safety and efficacy of two doses of oral cladribine versus placebo in participants who had a first clinical demyelinating event (clinically isolated syndrome). Participants in either the cladribine or placebo group may also enter treatment periods with open-label interferon-beta or open-label cladribine depending upon the disease status. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of two dosage regimens of oral cladribine versus placebo on the time to conversion to multiple sclerosis (MS) (from randomization) according to the Poser criteria in participants with first clinical demyelinating event at high risk of converting to MS.
This trial is conducted in Europe. The aim of this observational study is to evaluate the glycaemic control in patients with type 1 or 2 diabetes using NovoMix® 30 or Levemir® under normal clinical practice conditions.
First-line treatment of patients with locally recurrent or metastatic, HER2-negative breast cancer who have not received prior chemotherapy for locally recurrent or metastatic disease.
This single arm study will assess patient preference for monthly Bonviva, versus daily or weekly alendronate or risedronate, in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Patients currently on a daily or weekly regimen of bisphosphonate therapy (alendronate or risedronate) will answer a questionnaire to identify patients who may benefit from a monthly Bonviva regimen. Eligible patients will then discontinue their present bisphosphonate treatment, and switch to monthly Bonviva 150mg po. At the beginning and end of Bonviva treatment, all patients will complete an Osteoporosis Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety and efficacy of tanezumab in combination with opioids in treating pain due to cancer that has spread to bone.
The purpose of this study is to find out the good and bad effects of an investigational drug called CP-533,536 in patients with closed fracture of the tibial shaft undergoing internal fixation using reamed inter-locked IM nailing procedure
The main objective of the trial is to compare Invasive Disease-Free Survival (IDFS) of patients randomised to treatment with adjuvant chemotherapy alone or to adjuvant chemotherapy with 1 year of bevacizumab. The secondary objectives of this trial are to: - compare Overall Survival (OS), Breast Cancer-Free Interval (BCFI), Disease- Free Survival (DFS) and Distant Disease-Free Survival (DDFS) of patients randomised to treatment with adjuvant chemotherapy alone or to adjuvant chemotherapy in combination with 1 year of bevacizumab - evaluate the safety and tolerability of bevacizumab An exploratory sub-study (not reported here) was to identify biomarkers (from tumour or serum) predictive of toxicity and for the level of benefit from the addition of bevacizumab to standard adjuvant systemic treatment.
This study is to assess the safety of a potential new drug DU-176b for the prevention of stroke/systemic embolic event (SEE) in individuals with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF). The duration is 3 months of treatment and a 30 day follow-up visit.
