The purpose of this observational study was to observe and assess the long term use, safety, and effectiveness of adalimumab in a normal clinical setting.
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) are used to support the administration of high dose chemotherapy for a range of human cancers. For a safe HSC transplantation, a minimum of 5 million HSC per kilogram are required. HSC are collected from the bone marrow by using drugs such as G-CSF (filgrastim) which 'mobilize' them from the bone marrow into the bloodstream. HSC are collected from the bloodstream using an apheresis machine. Between 5 and 60% of patients fail to mobilize the minimum HSC dose required for safe transplantation, and this trial is investigating a way to enhance mobilization to overcome this problem. This trial aims to determine if a new vitamin A derivative is capable of enhancing HSC mobilization when used in conjunction with G-CSF. Patients will undergo two mobilization procedures. They will be given G-CSF alone, or a combination of the study drug plus G-CSF, and their stem cells will be collected. A comparison group of patients will be given G-CSF alone for both mobilizations. Stem cells collected from patients in this trial will be frozen and stored until they are required for transplantation into that patient. At that time, patients will be monitored for how well they recover from their high dose chemotherapy and HSC transplantation.

This study aims to treat young people with an adjunctive integrated cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) intervention and to examine the acceptability of this treatment approach within this population. The study will also include a pilot placebo-controlled trial of sertraline for those young people who fail to or only partially respond to the CBT intervention, so as to determine whether adjunctive anti-depressant treatment improves clinical response in this population.
The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of the anticoagulant(blood thinner) Clexane on the development of leg clots following electrophysiology studies (EPS) and or radiofrequency ablation (RFA). People who suffer heart palpitations will sometimes need hospital admission to undergo an electrophysiology study ( and or a Radiofrequency Ablation)in order to diagnose and or treat their condition. Radiofrequency ablation is a procedure to stop abnormal heart rhythms. EPS/RFA studies require the puncture of the leg veins . Previous experience has shown that following the puncture of leg veins there is a small risk of developing a blood clot in the leg. It is not known whether giving blood thinners (anticoagulants) after the procedure will decrease this risk Enoxaparin Sodium (Clexane) is an anticoagulant used extensively and safely following bone (Orthopaedic) surgery to prevent blood clots from developing in the legs
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether fish oil supplements may reduce the frequency and duration of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation episodes. Atrial fibrillation is a heart condition which effects a large percentage of the population . Atrial fibrillation is a condition frequently experienced by people who have had pacemakers inserted . Certain Pacemakers have sophisticated monitoring features that are able to recognise episodes of atrial fibrillation. Fish oil supplements may be of benefit to patients with heart problems.Recent evidence suggests that fish oils may be beneficial to patients with rhythm disturbances. By interrogating pacemakers this study will investigate the effect of fish oil supplements on the frequency and duration of episodes of atrial fibrillation.
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether fish oils may be of benefit to patients with certain heart rhythm disturbances called atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. Atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter are two heart conditions that can be successfully treated in the hospital by an ablation (in the case of atrial flutter) or a cardioversion (in the case of atrial fibrillation). Ablation involves the application of high frequency energy waves to a particular spot in the heart. Cardioversion involves resetting the heart back to a normal rhythm with the use of an electric current. Fish oil supplements may be of benefit to patients with heart problems. Recent evidence suggests that fish oils may benefit those with rhythm disturbances.

In an earlier study, eplerenone was shown to improve survival in patients who had heart failure immediately following a heart attack. However, it is not known how patients with established mild-to-moderate heart failure (NYHA Class II), who have the additional risk of sudden death, will respond if treated with eplerenone. In this trial, eplerenone plus standard heart failure medicines is being compared to placebo plus standard heart failure medicines in terms of an additional ability to prolong life and prevent re-hospitalizations for worsening heart failure in these patients. The Data Safety Monitoring Committee (DSMC) observed during its conduct of the protocol-specified second interim analysis on the 6th of May, 2010 that the efficacy of eplerenone had met the pre-specified stopping rules in the protocol. As a result of the discussion between the DSMC and the Executive Steering Committee (ESC), the ESC recommended that EMPHASIS-HF should be terminated, Based on the convincing efficacy and the consideration that it would be unethical not to offer this treatment to patients, the ESC recommended that all the patients in the trial should be transferred to open-label eplerenone. The Open Label Extension eplerenone arm will last for 12 months. Eplerenone is not currently approved for the indication studied in this patient population. On May 26, 2010, further enrollment into EMPHASIS-HF was stopped. The amendment is considered to be the most appropriate way to ensure that all the subjects who participated in the double-blind phase of the EMPHASIS-HF trial can be offered treatment with eplerenone
The Pompe Registry is a global, multicenter, international, longitudinal, observational, and voluntary program for patients with Pompe disease, designed to track the disease's natural history and outcomes in patients, both treated and not. Data from the Registry are also used to fulfill various global regulatory commitments, to support product development/reimbursement, and for other research and non-research related purposes. The objectives of the Registry are: - To enhance understanding of the variability, progression, identification, and natural history of Pompe disease, with the ultimate goal of better guiding and assessing therapeutic intervention. - To assist the Pompe medical community with the development of recommendations for monitoring patients, and to provide reports on patient outcomes, to optimize patient care. - To characterize the Pompe disease population. - To evaluate the long-term effectiveness of alglucosidase alfa.
