SonoVue Guided Prostate Biopsy

Start date: February 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a phase III European multicenter, open label, prospective study to assess the diagnostic accuracy of the use of SonoVue contrast agent to guide prostate biopsies in comparison with the current practice of ultrasound guided systematic biopsy. The trial will involve 15-20 European Centers.

NCT ID: NCT00903656 Terminated - Clinical trials for Metastatic Breast Cancer

Lapatinib Plus Caelyx in Patients With Advanced Metastatic Breast Cancer Following Failure of Trastuzumab Therapy

Start date: May 2009
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to evaluate the potential of a Lapatinib plus Caelyx combination therapy as an effective and safe therapeutic regimen with a favourable cardiotoxicity profile, in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer following failure of prior trastuzumab.

NCT ID: NCT00893867 Terminated - Clinical trials for Acute Ischemic Stroke

Efficacy and Safety Study of DP-b99 in Treating Acute Ischemic Stroke

MACSI
Start date: December 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this trial is to determine if intravenous administration of the metal ion trapping agent DP-b99 up to 9 hours following acute ischemic stroke onset, and then for 3 additional days (4 consecutive days in total) is effective in improving long term outcome. Patients will be followed up for 3 months after the stroke.

NCT ID: NCT00884390 Terminated - Hemophilia A Clinical Trials

Study Evaluating Safety Of Patients Switching To ReFacto AF In Usual Care Settings

Start date: May 2009
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The study will be investigating safety in patients who switch to ReFacto AF from ReFacto and other Factor VIII products.

NCT ID: NCT00882414 Terminated - Clinical trials for Iron-Deficiency Anemia

Ferinject® in Patient With Thrombocytosis Secondary to Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

Start date: December 2006
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to show the benefits for patients, with a high platelet count, iron deficiency and IBD, receiving intravenous iron therapy.

NCT ID: NCT00880139 Terminated - Inflammation Clinical Trials

Study Investigating the Levels and Effects of Low-grade Inflammation in Diabetic Retinopathy of Type 1 Diabetes

Start date: June 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

There is much evidence that localized low grade inflammatory processes may contribute to the microvascular complications of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus including sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy. Some biomarkers for inflammation have been found to be elevated in diabetes patients and correlations between those biomarkers and the severity of diabetic complications have been found in the last years. The relation between this low grade inflammation and the microvascular changes observed in diabetic retinopathy is, however, not well characterized. In the present study patients with different stages of non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy will be included. Several markers of inflammation will be measured from blood samples. These markers will be related to vascular factors including flicker-induced vasodilatation as a marker of endothelial dysfunction and perifoveal leukocyte velocity and density as measured with the blue field entoptic phenomenon. In addition, the ophthalmologic status of the patients will be assessed according to the Modified Airlie House classification. A multiple regression model will be employed to study the association between the different methods.

NCT ID: NCT00879229 Terminated - Clinical trials for Pulmonary Hypertension

ARTEMIS-PH - Study of Ambrisentan in Subjects With Pulmonary Hypertension Associated With Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

ARTEMIS-PH
Start date: July 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Ambrisentan is an endothelin receptor antagonist used for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension (PH). Based on research suggesting a role for endothelin-1 in the pathogenesis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and the poor prognosis for patients with IPF who are also diagnosed with PH, this study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of ambrisentan in that patient population.

NCT ID: NCT00875888 Terminated - Clinical trials for Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome

High Cut-Off Continuous Veno-venous Hemodialysis (CVVHD) in Patients Treated for Acute Renal Failure After Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS)/Septic Shock

HICOSS
Start date: February 2004
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will assess the influence of the High Cut-Off (HCO) CVVHD treatment on the disease progression in septic patients. The primary aim of the study is to evaluate whether HCO CVVHD leads to a significant improvement of the hemodynamic status (mean arterial pressure, vasopressor requirements) in septic patients in comparison to CVVHD treatment with conventional high-flux filters. For the HCO-group the investigators expect a 50% lower dosage of vasopressors needed to maintain an adequate organ perfusion.

NCT ID: NCT00872547 Terminated - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Multi-Centre Study to Assess the Long-term Performance of the DePuy ASR™ System in Resurfacing and Primary Total Hip Replacement

Start date: September 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to monitor the performance of a large metal-on-metal bearing from the DePuy ASR™ System in the treatment of patients with hip joint disease requiring hip resurfacing surgery or a total hip replacement. Patients who enter the study will be evaluated at regular intervals following hip surgery using patient, clinical and x-ray assessments. The Study was terminated with effect from 30th November 2011 following the completion of 2 year follow up assessments for those patients remaining in the study. Please note that prior to this decision DePuy voluntarily recalled the ASR products on 24 August 2010. Additional information regarding this voluntary recall and the follow-up of patients affected by the recall can be found at the following links http://www.mhra.gov.uk/Publications/Safetywarnings/MedicalDeviceAlerts/CON155761 and http://www.depuy.com/countries_list.
