Effects of IMT on Clinical Outcomes in Cardiac Surgery

Start date: July 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Individuals who underwent cardiac surgery may experience anesthesia, intracardiac operation, cardiopulmonary bypass and mechanical ventilation, which will result in a lot of injuries. Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) is a regimen of breathing exercises that aim to strengthen the respiratory muscles and make it easier for a person to breathe. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of preoperative IMT on e clinical outcomes in patients with cardiac surgery.

NCT ID: NCT04444349 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Disease

Effects of CoQ10 on Inflammatory Response in Cardiac Surgery

Start date: August 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of death and prescription drug use. Research on certain dietary supplements looks promising as a way to help reduce risk factors. Previous studies showed that CoQ10 levels were decreased in cardiovascular patients and worsening of mitochondrial dysfunction was observed. The overall objective of this study is to determine if supplementing with CoQ10 can reduce inflammatory risk factors in adults with cardiac surgery, independent of other dietary or physical activity changes.

NCT ID: NCT04442334 Recruiting - Obesity Clinical Trials

The European NAFLD Registry

Start date: May 1, 2015
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The European NAFLD Registry is a prospectively recruited, observational study supporting the study of the clinical phenotype, natural history, disease outcomes and pathophysiology of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis. The ultimate goals are to better understand the drivers of interpatient variation in disease pathophysiology and severity and to utilise this information to develop and validate biomarkers that, singly or in combination, enable detection and monitoring of disease progression and/or from NAFL through NASH to fibrosis and cirrhosis.

NCT ID: NCT04441086 Completed - Emotions Clinical Trials

Emotion Regulation Intervention to Sustain Physical Activity in Rural-dwelling Women and Men After Myocardial Infarction

eMotion
Start date: January 12, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate early preliminary efficacy of the eMotion intervention in US adults who have experienced a first cardiac event and participating in phase II cardiac rehabilitation. This study will evaluate early efficacy and evaluate the cognitive processes as intervention response variables. Investigators will also examine the relationships between emotion regulation and other cognitive processes and symptoms (threat and stress, cognition and motivation), symptoms [depression, anxiety, pain, sleep, and fatigue]), and health related quality of life among adults enrolled in cardiac rehabilitation after a first cardiac event.

NCT ID: NCT04438122 Completed - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Disease

Effect of Wine Consumption on Cardiovascular Markers in CHDs Patients

Start date: September 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Many epidemiological studies support that 20-30gr of alcohol consumption per day is related with lower risk for cardiovascular diseases, heart attack as well as mortality related to these diseases. Since the French paradox was reported, a number of experimental and clinical studies have demonstrated the protective effect of red wine compared to other alcoholic drinks on different pathways of the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. The investigator's previous results revealed that wine contain micro-constituents that exert potent in vitro anti-platelet and anti-inflammatory actions. Also, the wine consumption along with a standardized meal reduced platelet aggregation and biosynthesis of Platelet Activating Factor in healthy men. Although a large number of studies have reported protective effect of wine against atherosclerosis in healthy people there are few data about the effect of long-term moderate wine consumption in population with CVD. Therefore, the aim of this randomized, intervention clinical study, with control group was to report the effects of regular light to moderate wine consumption on cardiovascular biomarkers in people with CVD.

NCT ID: NCT04437914 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Accuracy of Cardiac Arrhythmias and Conduction Disorders Diagnosis Using a Smartwatch

Start date: June 7, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Implantable devices increase the detection of silent atrial fibrillation in high-risk populations, being a useful tool in the early diagnosis of these patients, allowing monitoring for a longer time. Currently, these devices can be used for monitoring and possible early diagnosis of abnormalities in order to prevent health complications and bring about better outcomes, as well as monitor the user's progress and thus prevent more serious developments. Objective: to analyze, in patients with cardiovascular disease, the electrocardiographic aspects detected from the device in comparison to the conventional electrocardiogram, identifying aspects of similarity between the tracings obtained and automatic diagnostic accuracy by the device and by the visual assessment of the tracing. Method: a cross-sectional observational study of diagnostic accuracy will be carried out at the University Hospital of the Federal University of Piaui. The following parameters were considered: significance level of 95%, test power of 80%, value of the disease diagnosis rate of 84%, area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 94% and an equal proportion of the number of positive and negative cases. The minimum sample size consisted of 100 patients, and an additional 10% will be added to compensate for possible losses. A total of 110 patients will be invited to participate in the study. Patients aged ≥ 18 years will be included, with the presence of one or more diagnoses below: systemic arterial hypertension, heart failure, valvular disease, coronary atherosclerotic disease, myocardial infarction, endocarditis, myocarditis, diabetes, cardiac arrhythmias and patients with cardiac pace or implantable automatic defibrillator. The variables analyzed will be: clinical-demographic data of the patients, including age, sex, race, socioeconomic profile; comorbidities and electrocardiographic findings as measured by the clock and conventional ECG. The data will be analyzed comparatively between the groups: 1 = EKG on the clock; 2 = 12-lead conventional EKG and DI (single lead). The primary outcome will be the positive diagnostic correlation of the data obtained in group 1 in relation to group 2. Secondary outcomes: successful measurement of the electrocardiographic record by the clock; diagnostic accuracy of atrial fibrillation and other heart rhythm disorders.

Precision Medicine Study on Cardiovascular Disease (PRECISE)

PRECISE
Start date: March 10, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in China and have become a financial burden on society under the traditional medical model. A new and sustainable medical model is needed to solve this dilemma, for which precision medicine models have great potential. Monogenic cardiovascular disease is the first field to be broken through in precision medicine at this stage, and it is also the field where precision medicine is most likely to be successfully transformed into clinical application, including genetic diagnosis, molecular typing, risk stratification, genetic interruption and individualized treatment.
