Filter by:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of treatment with epoetin alfa (recombinant human erythropoietin) or placebo on anemia related quality-of-life and anemia in hormone-refractory (not responding to hormone therapy) prostate cancer patients.
The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of everolimus in the treatment of advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (NET) not responsive to cytotoxic chemotherapy. All patients were treated with everolimus until either tumor progression was documented using a standard criteria that measures tumor size called Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid tumors (RECIST), or until unacceptable toxicity occurred, or until the patient or investigator requested discontinuation of treatment.
The purpose of this study is to learn if ipilimumab can be given safely at two different doses given to patients with urothelial cancer who are going to have surgery as part of their treatment. The immunological effectiveness of ipilimumab will also be studied.
To evaluate the response rate of cetuximab plus irinotecan combination therapy in subjects with EGFR-detectable metastatic colorectal carcinoma who have documented progressive disease to irinotecan-based chemotherapy and who have failed (progressive disease or intolerance) previous oxaliplatin-based and fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapies.
The main purpose of this study is to begin to collect information and try to learn whether SU011248 works in treating patients with advanced liver cancer. Laboratory studies have shown that SU011248 may block the growth of blood vessels in tumors, which may prevent tumors from growing any further.
We will evaluate the feasibility, toxicity, and effectiveness of combination chemotherapy (paclitaxel/carboplatin)plus combination targeted therapy (bevacizumab/erlotinib)in the first line treatment of patients with carcinoma of unknown primary site. There is limited experience with either bevacizumab or erlotinib in the treatment of cancers of unknown site but given the heterogeneous nature of the tumor, it is likely that inhibition of angiogenesis pathways and/or the EGFR pathway are effective strategies in at least a proportion.

This randomized phase II trial studies how well ziv-aflibercept works in treating patients with kidney cancer that has spread from the primary site to other places in the body (metastatic) or is unable to be removed with surgery (unresectable). Ziv-aflibercept may stop the growth of kidney cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well gemcitabine works in treating patients with metastatic cancer of unknown primary.
RATIONALE: Biological therapies, such as denileukin difitox, may stimulate the immune system in different ways and may prevent tumor cells from growing. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of denileukin diftitox in treating patients with advanced refractory ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal carcinoma, or epithelial fallopian tube cancer.
