Poor adherence to asthma controller medication may link to poor asthma outcome. A metered dose device with built-in dose counter helps physicians to monitor drug compliance in asthma patients. Mobile-phone based self management opens a window for better asthma control. The present study aims to investigate the relationship between the adherence to controller medication of combined inhaled corticosteroid/long acting beta2-agonists, assessing by integrated dose counter, and the level of airway inflammation and asthma control. Moreover, the investigators also use a new asthma self-management Apps to enhance drug compliance. With the application of the new, easily available tools, the investigator expect to increase adherence rates, and hence, to reduce airway inflammation and improve the level of asthma control.
This study aims to evaluate therapeutics interventions in radiodermatitis in patients with breast or head and neck cancer. The data collect is going to begin after determining the better dose in a dose-response curve that is being conduct now in the same institution. To evaluate the skin reaction will be applied scale of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) - Acute Radiation Morbidity Scoring Criteria, Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) and Radiation-Induced Skin Reaction Assessment Scale (RISRAS).
During endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), epinephrine local injection and controlled hypotension is essential in order to increase the visibility in the operative field and reduce the risk. This study is comparing of dexmedetomidine and remifentanil before epinephrine local injection for controlled hypotension during ESS.
Aim: To collate data on Anogenital Distance (AGD) from several population studies to build an international database for Anogenital Distance (AGD) Primary objective: To build a database platform to promote and facilitate international collaboration on research related to AGD, endocrine disruptors and reproductive health. This will be based on anonymised data from multiple population studies. In order to facilitate and provide a governance structure for the study, an international AGD consortium will be established.
The primary hypothesis is to investigate whether a low calorie diet for 7 weeks followed by continuous lifestyle advice is an effective option to achieve an improvement in glucose control as measured by HbA1c after 52 and 104 weeks as compared to baseline values in obese type 2 diabetes patients on either tablet or insulin treatment. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a highly heterogeneous and lethal pathological process with limited therapeutic options, which is the most common and severe of the idiopathic interstitial pneumonias (IIPs). During the past 20 years, the incidence of IPF increased significantly. Most of IPF patients show a median survival time of 2-3 years after diagnosis. Five-year survival rate is 30%-50%. It's difficult to diagnose in the early stage of IPF. Once the patients go to hospital, it's already in the late stage. Now there is no effective therapy except lung transplant for IPF in clinical application. Acute exacerbation of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (AE-IPF) is a fatal condition with high mortality (over 80%). Its etiology and pathogenesis remain unknown. There is a lack of effective treatment for it. Based on the investigators' long-term clinical observation, most cases of AE-IPF initially got "common cold" and had coryza, more cough, nasal obstruction,rhinorrhea, sore throat, some patients had fever, headache, and etc. Some of these patients' condition developed very rapidly and then became very severe similar to the situation of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Why these AE-IPF patients were so hypersensitive to "cold"? What were the immunologic and pathological mechanisms of their lung lesions after patients exposed to "common cold"? How to effectively offer interventional treatment for AE-IPF? All the above questions are yet to be explained clearly. In the investigators' previous retrospective study, the investigators found that there were some obviously imbalanced immune responses in IPF patients, including increased cluster of differentiation 4 (CD4) T cell population, immunoglobulin and complements. The investigators also found highly expressed inflammatory cytokines (IL-17, MIG and IL-9) and high detection rates of pathogens in AE-IPF patients, especially serum immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibody of some respiratory virus. These findings provide a strong suggestion that there are some imbalance of immunologic function in IPF and there are relationship between AE-IPF and infection, especially "Cold" virus infection might be a key trigger for AE-IPF.
This is a three arm cluster randomized controlled trial where the unit of randomization is the immunization camp. Immunization camps are the sole provider of vaccinations in our study area and have catchment areas of several villages. The 96 immunization camps will be randomized evenly to one of three arms: 1. control arm; where near field communication (NFC) stickers will be placed on existing immunization booklets. These stickers can be scanned using a mobile phone with an installed application whereby information can be entered onto the phone and then scanned onto the sticker 2. pendant only; where the same NFC technology will be placed into a pendant that is worn by the infant, and 3. pendant as described above with voice reminders sent 15 days, 1 day prior, and the day of the scheduled immunization camp dates.
Introduction : Due to Chronic kidney disease is a public health problem, which is important increased in both developed and developing countries . And sodium intake restriction was related to the reduction of blood pressure and urine protein which is one of the important risk factor in chronic kidney disease. One of the problem in sodium restriction failure in Thai population with CKD nowadays is lack of knowledge and problem unawareness. The study hypothesis : Intense knowledge about sodium reduction and immediate feedback of the sodium intake could be simultaneously modifying the behavior to reduce sodium intake , blood pressure and also GFR reduction rate Objectives : To compare the effect of dietary salt restriction on glomerular filtration rate (GFR) between CKD patients receiving strict controlled combined with immediate individual feedback (DISC Progrram) and those receiving standard education.
