Evaluation of Link for Equity (Students of Color Population)

The investigators propose to develop and evaluate Link for Equity, a trauma-informed system of care. Link, a system of support for ACE-affected children, is composed of universal school Trauma-Informed Care. Preventing Racism through Awareness and Action (PRAA) is a perspective-taking racism/discrimination prevention intervention for school staff that increases awareness of racism and how it impacts students and promotes empathy for students of color. Link for Equity will be translated to be culturally responsive for 12 secondary public schools in metropolitan and rural Minnesota with substantial racial/ethnic minority students and racial/ethnic disparities in school discipline and violence. Using a nested, rigorous, and ethically acceptable randomized waitlist control design, the investigators will implement and evaluate Link for Equity sequentially for two years in each school. The overall goal is to evaluate if Link for Equity can reduce school violence disparities.

The investigators goal is to provide a mechanism that allows for a better understanding of athlete management from injury prevention through maintenance of health or development of injury and rehabilitation. The goal is to describe best practice for prevention and treatment to maximize return to health, sport, and patient reported outcomes following time. This includes collection of pre-existing risk factors, prevention program participation, treatment initiatives, functional outcomes measured by standardized and validated tools from the published literature. It incorporates comorbidities and patient demographic characteristics. All of these components come together to form a remarkably comprehensive picture of athlete health, influencing factors, and their associated outcomes.

Postprandial Metabolites of Meal Challenge Test in Diabetes State

Postprandial hyperglycemia is a hallmark feature of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2D), and persistent elevated glycemic level has shown to be strongly associated with oxidative stress, and a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). In Malaysia, the glycemic control is poor and patients with T2D commonly experiencing persistent postprandial hyperglycemia (12.7 mmol/L). A low glycemic index (GI) meal has been reported to reduce postprandial glycemia and insulin concentration in patients with T2D. Metabolomics technique can be used to identify comprehensive metabolites in response to different diet. Till date, local scientific data documented on the role and interaction between diet and metabolites for the Malaysian patients with T2D is unknown. This study is to determine the postprandial metabolomic effect of low and high GI meals in patients with T2D using the NMR-based metabolomics approach. Then, patients with T2D will be assigned for 14 days of chronic feeding trial intervention. This study will help to establish local baseline data and understand the impact of meal-patterns on metabolic and metabolite at postprandial responses.

The PLUSS (Mental health, learning, development, collaboration around preschool children) is a collaborative project involving guardians, Jönköping County´s health care, preschools and social services. The project studies the implementation of a "One way in"-model that provides coordinated services to screen, evaluate and treat toddlers with behavioral problems. The project also provides parental interventions and education for preschool teachers. The study aims to investigate a) implementation of the PLUSS model, b) effectiveness of the model and the included parental training program on behavioral problem and their longitudinal development among preschool children, c) parental wellbeing and satisfaction. In the long term, the goal is to reduce mental health problems among children, adolescents and their families and to provide support for a functioning everyday life.

With increasing awareness about physician fatigue and its effect on patient safety, residency programs are increasingly transitioning to a night float call system. In other industries, multiple night shifts in a row can cause a disruption in the circadian rhythm, sleep debt, shift work disorder, that is related to chronic medical conditions such as obesity and cardiovascular disease. We will evaluate the effect of different call structures on resident activity, sleep and self reported measures of wellness using a commercially available Fitbit device.
