The investigators will conduct a study of brain positron emission tomography (PET) using 11C-PIB for the imaging of brain amyloid in 250 participants in the Multiethnic study of atherosclerosis (MESA) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City. Participants will be imaged only once with Pittsburgh Compound B (PIB) PET.

Evaluation of the Bulbocavernosus Reflex After Acute Spinal Cord Injury

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possibility to use electromyography in acute phase after a traumatic spinal cord injury to measure quantitatively and objectively the bulbocavernosus reflex. This study also aims to determine if there is a relationship between the bulbocavernosus reflex and neuro-functional recovery 3 months after a traumatic spinal cord injury. To do so, 20 patients admitted for acute traumatic spinal cord injury will be recruited prospectively. Within 72 hours post-trauma, the bulbocavernous reflex of all participants will be assessed according to the International Standards for Neurological Classification of Spinal Cord Injury (ISNCSCI) and by electromyography. Neurological improvement during the rehabilitation process and functional status at 3 months following the traumatic spinal cord injury will also be assessed.

Discharge Planning Program for Post CABG Patients

The current study is utilizing a nurse led discharge program based on the Re-Engineered Discharge program (Project-RED) ( Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality [AHRQ], 2013) which is a package of services designed to minimize discharge failures and minimize re-admissions, reduce mortality, morbidity, complication and improve patients outcomes. Project-RED aims to reduce hospital re-admissions through a series of structured steps led by a nurse called discharge advocate. The intervention will be used to discharge patients post Coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
