The aim of the phase II Nivothym study is to collect data on activity and toxicity of nivolumab therapy in patients with thymic carcinoma or type B3 thymoma that previously received a first platinum-based chemotherapy.
To assess the biomarker profile in diabetic macular edema patients in response to intravitreal aflibercept injection. Patients with diabetic macular edema who meet study requirements will receive monthly intravitreal injections of aflibercept as approved by FDA for a period of 6 months. A small quantity of fluid will be removed from the vitreous at each injection for laboratory evaluation of biomarkers present before, during and after treatment with aflibercept.

Music has powerful effects on memory in patients with neurodegenerative diseases. However, although there is anecdotal evidence for beneficial effects of active music interventions in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), there is lack of high-quality research investigating this issue, and the cognitive, emotional, and social factors that contribute to potentially beneficial effects of music making in AD patients are largely unknown. In a randomised controlled intervention trial, a cohort of AD patients will undergo twelve months of music lessons specifically tailored for AD patients. Structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) will be used to determine changes in brain age (as compared to two control groups), and voxel-based morphometry will be computed to determine contributions of different factors of the music intervention (cognitive, emotional, and social) to plastic changes of brain morphology, and a potential deceleration of brain atrophy. At the first stage, 11 patients would be enrolled. If two or more among them achieve objective response, the study will go forward the second stage. The purpose of this study is to determine whether relatlimab in combination with nivolumab is more effective than nivolumab by itself in treating unresectable melanoma or melanoma that has spread.
Primary Objective: Evaluate the safety and pharmacokinetics of eliglustat in pediatric patients (≥2 to <18 years old). Secondary Objective: Evaluate the efficacy of eliglustat and quality of life in pediatric patients (≥2 to <18 years old).
This is a study and a novel approach to clinical trials, testing the feasibility and acceptability of two-stage consent in the context of a trial integrated into routine clinical practice. The investigator will use, as a model, a trial of a brief mind-body intervention) with guided imagery for procedural pain at the time of prostate biopsy. In the two-stage design, patients will first be approached for consent to 1) have their routinely collected clinical data used for research purposes and 2) be randomly selected to be offered an intervention to improve the experience of prostate biopsy. Only patients randomized to the experimental arm will be informed about the benefits and harms of the intervention and will sign a second consent for the experimental treatment. There will be two separate randomizations in this study, one-stage (usual informed consent) vs. two-stage consent and mindfulness intervention vs. control.
Inflammation has been consistently associated with psychoneurological symptoms (PNS) among breast cancer survivors (BCS). Evidence supporting interventional strategies promoting symptom-self management in reducing inflammation-induced PNS in BCS is limited. Current guidelines for BCS encourage the consumption of foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids. The omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), abundantly available in fish, has a role in inflammatory downregulation. Low dietary DHA has been associated with inflammation and fatigue in BCS. Dietary planning targeting increased fish consumption thereby reducing red and processed meats are components of the major nutritional recommendations for BCS. A critical gap exists in knowledge regarding interventions promoting adherence to dietary guidelines in BCS supporting PNS self-management. This investigation uses personalized meal planning among BCSs (n=150) who are 1-2 years post-treatment for early-stage breast cancer and experiencing PNS (pain, fatigue, depression, sleep disturbance, stress) to evaluate the feasibility of a personalized meal planning approach in supporting adherence to current dietary guidelines for BCS. As a first step in this program of research, we will evaluate the feasibility of an personalized meal planning approach in promoting adherence to dietary guidelines for BCS through evaluating the feasibility of a personalized meal planning approach in a cohort of BCSs with respect to recruitment, group allocation, salivary inflammatory quantification and receptivity to and adherence with dietary interventions. This investigation will also contribute to a preliminarily evaluation of the efficacy of high or low fish diet in reducing inflammation (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-a) and PNS symptoms. Nationally, there is a priority for the development of personalized health strategies supporting self-management of adverse symptoms. This investigation focused on PNS in BCS is an initial step in generating new knowledge in efficacious approaches toward guiding decisions on dietary behavior change strategies that are personalized, cost-effective, and sustainable.
