The investigators will combine minimalist footwear, plantar massage, and workshops to re-learn walking and posture. The main objective of this study is to verify the acceptability and feasibility of this program among the elderly.

Warmed Blood Transfusion in Premature Infants

Premature babies have to deal with many problems from the moment they are born due to the immature of their organs. Their clinical condition is unstable, especially in the first few weeks, and they are greatly affected by environmental factors. During this period, blood transfusion may be needed for many reasons such as intraventricular hemorrhage and necrotizing enterocolitis. In addition, multiple blood draws to evaluate irregular metabolic, hematological and biochemical findings result in anemia and the need for blood transfusion. There are many algorithms regarding blood transfusion indications and transfusion limits in premature babies. However, there are no strict rules regarding the application of warming before blood transfusion, but it is recommended by some guidelines. Especially in unstable babies such as advanced premature babies, it is recommended to give blood by heating it at physiological temperature to avoid important complications such as hypothermia, coagulopathy and rhythm disturbances. Premature babies, whose hemodynamic and metabolic balance is very sensitive, may go into hypothermia when blood and products stored at +4C⁰ are given without heating. In routine practice, blood transfusion is performed without heating. The concern here is that hemolysis may develop by heating the blood. Studies have shown that hemolysis occurs when blood is heated above 46C⁰. In this study, physiological heating is planned. In vitro neonatal experimental modeling has shown that there is no hemolysis with physiological heating. The aim of the researchers is; While protecting fragile, extremely premature babies from the complications of cold transfusion, the aim is to compare the transfusion groups with and without physiological heating in terms of hemolysis, metabolic balance and cerebral tissue oxygenation.

Benefits of a Belly Dance Psychomotor Intervention

The aim of the present study is to analyze the effects of a psychomotor intervention program mediated by belly dance in adult women. This Quasi-experimental study is a controlled trial with one arm. Participants will be allocated to one group which will be i) control and ii) experimental. That is at first i) will attend a control period without intervention (6 weeks) and at second ii) will attend an intervention period participating on the intervention program mediated by belly dance (12 weeks). Participants will be accessed at a baseline, at post control and at post intervention.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women globally, with 2.3 million new cases diagnosed in 2020. Hormone receptor positive (HR+), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 negative (HER2-) breast cancer is the most prevalent subtype, comprising 69% of all breast cancers in the USA. Within the tumor immune microenvironment, a higher intensity of myeloid cell infiltration and low levels of lymphocyte infiltration have been associated with worse outcomes. Markers in peripheral blood have emerged as predictive biomarkers that can be easily obtained non-invasively and at low cost. Experiments have confirmed the relative components of these tests (such as the immune cells) directly or indirectly participated in tumour occurrence, development, and immune escape, underscoring the potential use of laboratory tests as tumour biomarkers

In a cross-over design, pestos enriched with different levels of the microalgae Phaeodactylumtricornutum (2-3-4%) will be tested. The bioavailability of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, in particular EPA and carotenoids, will be analysed in blood plasma postprandially within two days after a single dose. Pharmacokinetic parameters will be calculated from the measured data. The aim of the study is to gain insight into the bioavailability of selected microalgae constituents and the acceptance of microalgae pesto.

Biomechanical Evaluation of a Novel, Compliant Low Profile Prosthetic Foot

The investigators have developed a novel layered low-profile prosthetic foot that is able to provide enhanced compliance without sacrificing strength for individuals with transtibial amputation who have long residual limbs. It is hypothesized that the proposed prosthesis will offer similar benefits to these individuals as comparable higher profile prostheses offer users with shorter residual limbs. The primary goal of this Phase I proposal is to assess the degree to which the proposed prosthesis can provide benefits to prosthesis users in this population, along with characterizing the degree to which the novel prosthesis emulates its taller counterparts.
