NCT ID: NCT01131663 Recruiting - Infant Clinical Trials

Design and Development of an Infant's Oriented Face Mask

Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Face masks are used for many respiratory care applications such as anaesthesia, resuscitation, and aerosol therapy. None of the currently available face mask for infants and young children are specifically designed and developed for infants. The aim of this study is to design, develop and test the first infant's oriented face mask. To achieve this ultimate goal we will first define appropriate sizes of infants' faces that would be used as templates for the design and development of optimally fitted model masks. In the next stage we will use these masks and incorporate the infants' own soother (pacifier) into a new SootherMask (SM). In the last part of the study we will compare acceptance levels between Soothermask (SM) and a conventional commodity masks without a pacifier.

NCT ID: NCT01132235 Recruiting - Psoriasis Clinical Trials

An Open-label Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of Re-treatment for Patients With a History of Etanercept Use

ENBRECAP2009
Start date: April 2010
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

NCT ID: NCT01135589 Recruiting - Neutropenia Clinical Trials

Micafungin Prevention Study for Fungal Disease in Child Receiving Allogenic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

Start date: April 2010
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study is to evaluate safety and prophylaxis effect of micafungin after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Micafungin is administered until confirmation of neutrophil engraftment or treatment failure.

NCT ID: NCT01137396 Recruiting - Cocaine Dependence Clinical Trials

Modafinil, Sleep Architecture and Cocaine Relapse

Start date: April 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The medication modafinil has been shown to reduce cocaine use in some cocaine users. The investigators have shown that modafinil taken in the morning improves sleep in chronic cocaine users. The investigators hypothesize that the beneficial effects of modafinil in reducing cocaine use may be related to specific effects modafinil has on sleep. This study will measure sleep and cocaine use in cocaine dependent persons who are trying to stop using cocaine, and will test the connection between modafinil's effects on sleep and cocaine use.

NCT ID: NCT01137903 Recruiting - Diabetic Foot Clinical Trials

Efficacy of Surgical Treatment of Osteomyelitis in Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Hypothesis:Surgical treatment of osteomyelitis in diabetic foot is more effective that medical treatment through antibiotherapy and leads wound healing in ulcers complicated with bone infection.Material and Methods: Randomized clinical trials which include two groups of patients (n=88), one receives medical treatment through antibiotherapy during 90 days and the other group receive conservative surgical treatment and antibiotics during 7 days after surgery. It will be studied differences between both groups in healing time, recidives, present and relationship of adverse events and outflow of quality of life related health .

NCT ID: NCT01138956 Recruiting - Treatment Clinical Trials

Immune Response of Visceral Leishmaniasis PatientsTreated With Antimonial Plus N-Acetylcysteine

VLNAC
Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is designed to evaluate the immune and therapeutic responses of visceral leishmaniasis patients using N-acetylcysteine (NAC) as an adjuvant therapy to pentavalent antimony.

NCT ID: NCT01140789 Recruiting - Ulcerative Colitis Clinical Trials

GWA Study in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Start date: April 2010
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim of this study is to identify new genes in Chinese patients that help investigators to understand the biological pathway and functions in a population in whom the incidence of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is increasing. And to explore the genetic variations in Chinese patients with IBD.

NCT ID: NCT01154907 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Uro-genital Schistosomiasis

Prevention of Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS) in Rural High-endemic South Africa

VIBE-FGS
Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Schistosomiasis is a poverty-related water-transmitted parasitic disease affecting more that 200 million people world wide. Infection with Schistosoma haematobium may cause Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS) with pathological lesions in the female genital tract, especially the cervix. Findings indicate that FGS is a hitherto under-diagnosed illness of young women in endemic poor tropical countries, deserving further attention. A cross-sectional study from Zimbabwe indicated that the pathologic genital lesions were unchanged two years after praziquantel treatment in adult women whereas in those who had been treated with praziquantel in childhood the prevalence of genital lesions was significantly lower. Furthermore, a higher prevalence of HIV was detected in women with FGS compared to those without. The proposed project aims at achieving a better understanding of how annual distribution of praziquantel to pre- and post-pubertal schoolgirls may prevent FGS. This information can be of use in current schistosomiasis control programs in the near term resulting in improved strategies for treatment. Preventing or reducing the risk of FGS and genital lesions will lead to improved reproductive health among in women living in schistosomiasis endemic areas. Project Goal: Contribute to a reduction of the global burden of female genital schistosomiasis (FGS) through improved knowledge about the prevention of gynecological lesions and through improved diagnosis of FGS.
