There are more than 498,563 clinical trials published worldwide with over 60,000 trials that are currently either recruiting or not yet recruiting. Use our filters on this page to find more information on current clinical trials or past clinical trials (free or paid) for study purposes and read about their results.
The investigators intend to conduct a randomized clinical trial comparing 3 methods of induction of labor in term primiparous women with singleton. First group will be women induced with Foley catheter and pitocin, second group Foley catheter and vaginal dinoprostone and third group will be induced with vaginal dinoprostone alone. The investigators compare time for induction to delivery and way of delivery.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of hysteroscope diameter on the pain experienced by nulliparous patients undergoing diagnostic office hysteroscopy.
Prospective study of the effect of Talc Pleurodesis vs. Indwelling Pleural catheter in treatment of patients with malignant pleural effusion
The purpose of this study is to compare two luteal support protocols in In vitro fertilization patients (IVF) and are at risk of developing ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). We would like to determine whether luteal Decapeptyl on days 3, 6,9 post ovulation triggering is as good as low dose hCG on day 3 post triggering..
Using phage libraries extensively pre-absorbed on a series of normal cell types, we will isolate phage specifically internalized by B-CLL cells from newly diagnosed and untreated CLL patients. Peptide sequences are then derived by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). NGS-based studies are contributing to an improved understanding of cancer heterogeneity in order to tailor treatment to patients based on the individual makeup of their tumor. However the use of NGS to derive phage displayed peptide sequences is so far rare (22). Traditionally, after exposure to a target and recovery by elution, the phage clones are isolated by titration on bacterial lawns. It is technically demanding and labour intensive to select and analyze more than about 15 of the sometimes thousands clones recovered. Therefore information on other potentially important sequences is missed. NGS allows sequencing of the entire recovered phage pool and provides far more detailed bioinformatic analyses of peptide sequences or motifs. RNA from the CLL cells is used for RNA-seq expression sequencing. The wide application of NGS in combination with bioinformatics tools has begun to revolutionize cancer research, diagnosis and therapy. The peptide and RNA sequencing data will afford bioinformatic testing of correlations of exome expression and clinical parameters with the pattern of peptide sequences internalized by CLL cells of different patients. This information is crucial to answering questions 1, 2 and 3 discussed on page 1 above. The results of this analysis will probably not allow identification of specific receptors targeted by the peptides. The aim at this stage of the research is to identify candidate targeting peptides. Once identified, further research will be needed to identify the receptors to which they bind. Regarding question 4, there is currently very little published information on the therapeutic potential of PDCs in leukemia. Using two peptides we have isolated that target murine A20 leukemic cells, we will prepare multi-drug PDCs (using technology we have developed) and in an animal model, test their ability to enhance the survival and quality of life of CLL bearing animals.
The aim of this explorative trial is to verify the comparability of a fractionated intensity modulated radiotherapy with a conventional radiotherapy related to quality of life on the one hand and to evaluate toxicity, re-calcification and stability of vertebral body as well as pain relief and local response for palliative patients with painful spinal bone metastases on the other hand. This is a single-center, prospective randomized controlled trial with parallel-group design to determine the quality of life after RT in patients with spinal bone metastases. Two different techniques were evaluated: intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and fractionated conventional external beam RT with 10×3 Gy each. Experimental intervention: IMRT 10 x 3 Gy Control intervention: 3D-RT 10 x 3 Gy
High quality bowel preparation is essential for successful colonoscopy. This study aimed to assess the impact of reinforced education by Wechat or short message service (SMS) on the quality of bowel preparation. This prospective, endoscopist-blinded, randomized, controlled study was conducted. Reinforced education groups received additional education via reminders by Wechat or SMS 2 days before colonoscopy. The primary outcome was the quality of the bowel preparation according to the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS). The secondary outcomes included polyp detection rate (PDR), adenoma detection rate (ADR), tolerance, and subjective feelings of patients.
Introduction; reception must be understood as the offered attention within the relationship between a healthcare worker and the patient, including attitudes of inclusion, hearing, valorization of complains and identification of needs, being these individual collective. As a part of this process, communication is a primary and indispensable toll through which the healthcare team and the patient interchange information. Objective: to evaluate the influence of perception of patients suffering of knee osteoarthritis over fear, catastrophizing of pain and effectiveness, related to intra-articular injection od corticosteroids. Material and method: it will be performed a prospective, controlled and randomized study eith a blind evaluator on patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis submitted to joint injection. A hundred patients suffering of symptomatic knee osteoarthritis coming from the outpatient area of Rheumatology Division of Federal University of Sao Paulo (UNIFESP) will be evaluated, 50 belonging to the intervention group (reception) and 50 to a control group.
Female urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse are common diseases especially in aged women that frequently cause urogenital infection, voiding difficulty, urinary retention, pelvic pain, constipation, and coital difficulty, as well as impact the quality of life of women. Risk factors of the above diseases include pregnancy, vaginal delivery, and menopausal status. Despite playing a crucial role in the pathophysiology of the above diseases, the urogenital skeletal muscular dysfunction cannot be fully corrected via the current treatment modalities. The human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) represent a prime candidate cell type for current research and future cell therapy because of their significant self-renewal, differentiation potential and the relative lack of ethical conflict. With the advent of efficient technology of reprogramming peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) into hiPSCs, researchers can generate personalized lines of cells from which it will be possible to obtain differentiated cells in a less invasive way, introducing opportunities in treating diseases that are now considered incurable. Until very recently, little success has been achieved in terms of skeletal muscle differentiation from hiPSCs. The purpose of this study is to explore the applicability of the differentiation into skeletal muscle progenitor cells from hiPSC cell lines and the associated biomolecular messages. It is anticipated that the derived skeletal muscle progenitor cells can be reprogrammed from PBMCs of female patients with urinary incontinence and/or pelvic organ prolapse and used in preclinical testing for relieving female urogenital problems.
Goals : ( a) to examine differences in cortical activity during hand movements with a mirror compared to imagery of the same movements, and (b) to examine correlation between cortical activity during imagery or mirror treatment and the pain and performance measures in finger amputees. A cross-sectional study of 20 subjects in a Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) preforming mirror therapy hand movement and imagery hand movement. Also, Visual Analogue Scale for pain and the Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire and Jebsen Taylor Hand Function Test will be used.
