Examination of blood samples is inevitable in intensive care units. Routine blood samples can be an important cause for anemia. In this study, we aimed to examine how our blood collection routine affects hemoglobin values.
1. Study will be a Non-Randomized clinical trial to check the effects of upper back strengthening and postural correction on pain, functional status and sleep quality in females with costal rib pain in 3rd trimester of pregnancy so that we can devise a treatment protocol for females during pregnancy suffering from costal rib pain. Duration of study was 6 months, Non-probability convenient sampling technique was used, subject following eligibility criteria from Avicenna Hospital were allocated in two groups, baseline assessment was done, Group A participants were given baseline treatment along with upper back strengthening and postural correction exercises, Group B participants were given baseline treatment along with no other specific treatment for 3 weeks. On 6th and 12th day, post intervention assessment was done via, Numeric Pain Rating Scale, Patient Specific Functional Scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. 3 sessions per week were given, data was analyzed by using SPSS version 26.
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn the outcomes of Mobile Augmented Reality (MAR) for oral health education program in the independent elderly. The main question it aims to answer is: • Can MAR for oral health education program provide better outcomes comparing to lecture-based education program and no intervention group. The activity centers from the list will be randomly chosen and assigned to MAR, lecture, and no intervention groups. - Participants from activity centers that were assigned as MAR and lecture groups will attend one time education program. They have to finish questionnaires 3 times and receive 2 times oral examination. - Participants from activity centers that was assigned as no intervention group will not attend any education program. They have to finish questionnaires 2 times and receive 2 times oral examination.
Fibromyalgia is a non-articular, chronic rheumatic disease of unknown etiology characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, sleep disturbance, fatigue, and the presence of multiple tender points.
The study compares the post operative pain after root canal therapy, after using different irrigation protocols. The subjects are divided into 3 groups and different irrigation protocol is used in each group. One group undergoes final irrigation after root canal therapy with a sonic activation device, and in the other two groups, side-vented and open-ended needles are used. Post operative pain is then compared at 8, 24, and 48 hour intervals.
The goal of this study is to investigate the effects of selective histamine 3 antagonist pitolisant on brain function and cognition in healthy individuals. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does pitolisant alter functional activity in brain regions linked to reward and cognitive processing during rest or cognitive task performance? 2. Does pitolisant alter cognitive ability across a range of psychological domains, including working memory, executive functioning and emotional processing? Participants will undertake fMRI scanning in addition to a battery of tasks designed to measure cognitive and emotional processing after taking a single dose of pitolisant or placebo. Researchers will compare differences in functional activity, cognition and emotional processing across the pitolisant and placebo groups.
A Randomized controlled trial will be conducted. Non-probability convnience sampling will be used to collect the data. Sample size of 42 subjects with age group between 18 to 40 years will be taken. Data will be collected by using tools Numeric Pain Rate Scale (NPRS) for pain, Neck Disability Index (NDI) for disability and SF-36 for Quality of life. An informed consent will be taken. A total of 20 subjects will be selected by following inclusion and exclusion criteria and will equally divided in to two groups by random number generator table. Both groups will come thrice per week for a total of 4 weeks.
This study will be a randomized controlled trial that will include myofascial release interventions with and without a support belt. 34 Patients will be randomly divided into 2 groups. Assessment will be done by using Numeric Pain Rating Scale, Quebec scale for functional disability, and Pelvic girdle pain questionnaire (PGQ).
The pathogenesis of temporomandibular disorders focusing on the biochemistry of the synovial fluid in various stages of temporomandibular joint disease. The role of inflammation has been investigated and proposed as an underlying mechanism of pain and dysfunction of temporomandibular joint. MESNA (sodium 2-mercaptoethanesulfonate) was approved several years ago and marketed in several formulations as a mucolytic agent in the respiratory field, since it breaks the disulfide bonds between polypeptide chains of mucus. The tissue distribution of MESNA is negligible, and the elimination of the substance is rapidly and completely achieved by kidney
Objectives: This study was conducted to determine the effect of music therapy on the pain, anxiety, and comfort levels of patients who underwent bone marrow aspiration and biopsy. Methods: This research was conducted as a randomized controlled study in the hematology polyclinic of a university hospital. Music therapy will used with the intervention group throughout the procedure. During data evaluation, paired t-test, independent t-test and effect size will used. The sample group was calculated based on the sample groups of other studies in the literature (Çelebi et al., 2020; Özdemir et al., 2019). According to the preliminary power analysis results using the G.Power 3.1.9 program, the sample size was calculated at 80% power, at medium effect size at 5% alpha value. According to the analysis results, the sample size per group was calculated as 30. However, since there was 10% probability that some patients may drop, the sample size for the study was recalculated as 66 (Experimental Group: 33, Control Group: 33).The patients will informed about using music. In addition, it will explained that they could adjust the sound levels and that they should report when they are disturbed by the tone. Music continued throughout the process. Communication with the patient will maintained, and symptoms such as discomfort, anxiety were observed throughout the procedure. The music player will switched off after the procedure was completed. The patients will asked whether they had any discomfort while the music played. TThe music therapy will last an average of 30 minutes. After completing the procedures, the patient's pain, comfort, and anxiety levels were re-evaluated using VAS and STAI.
