Research has over decades showed that marine food carries nutritional characteristics that promote human health. As seen in epidemiological studies and based on in vitro and in vivo studies, it is hypothesized that unrefined salmon oil as dietary supplement have anti-inflammatory effect. However, there is sufficient preliminary data to indicate bioactive compounds effect for clinical use, and further clinical trials investigating effect are needed. This trial will investigate the potential anti-inflammatory effect in adults diagnosed with asthma.

To conduct a randomized controlled internal pilot feasibility trial for the prevention of recurrent ischemic priapism referred to as the Priapism in Nigeria (PIN) trial. The study team will enroll a minimum of 30 participants and a maximum of 200 participants. Study investigators hypothesize that hydroxyurea therapy combined with tadalafil is superior to a combination of hydroxyurea and placebo in the prevention of recurrent ischemic priapism.

The study is a- 2-arm randomized controlled trial among patients presenting for kidney transplant evaluation at a single transplant center to compare the effects of a patient-based self-learning and outreach intervention about living-donor kidney transplantation (KidneyTIME) versus usual care for living-donor kidney transplant knowledge, concerns, readiness, access behaviors, and living-donor inquiries over 12 months follow-up. Following consent and baseline assessment, participants were randomized, stratified by self-reported race, with equal allocation to 2 treatment arms: the KidneyTIME intervention and usual care.

Culturally Adapted CMAP Plus LTP for Refugee Mothers With History of Self-harm in Pakistan

Objectives: - To asses the feasibility and acceptability of a culturally adapted manual assisted brief psychological intervention (CMAP) plus Learning through Play (LTP) for refugee mothers with history of self-harm having children 0-33 months. (Integrated intervention called CMAP Plus) - To assess if CMAP Plus will reduce the repetition of self-harm in refugee mothers having children aged between 0-33 months. - To determine if the intervention improves infant development and maternal attachment. - To explore participants experiences with the intervention. Study design and setting: This will be a feasibility cluster randomized control trial (cRCT) of culturally adapted CMAP Plus LTP intervention with refugee mothers from Quetta and Peshawar, Pakistan. Sample size: We aim to recruit a sample of 80 refugee mothers in the study.

Implant Stability in Autogenous Mineralized and Demineralized Dentin Grafts

The bone grafting materials currently used in dentistry are autografts, allografts, xenografts, and alloplastic grafts. Among these different types of bone graft materials, autografts are considered to have the most predictable results due to their properties of osteogenesis, osteoinduction, and osteoconduction. However, bone autografts are rarely used due to the high morbidity associated with harvesting the bone graft from the patient with a second surgical site. Because of the increased risk to the patient with autogenous bone grafts, the current standard of care is an allograft, which is a bone graft harvested from cadaver sources such as Freeze-Dried Bone Allograft (FDBA). While allografts can only possess the qualities of osteoinduction and osteoconduction, they also have dramatically less morbidity due to the lack of a second surgical site. Our null hypothesis states that: Experimental groups (mineralized, and partially demineralized dentin grafts) do not show positive changes in implant stability, survival, failure rate, probing pocket depth, and interproximal crestal bone level changes when compared to FDBA Our alternative hypothesis states that: Experimental groups (mineralized, and partially demineralized dentin grafts) show similar or better results in terms of implant stability, survival, failure rate, probing pocket depth, and interproximal crestal bone level changes when compared to FDBA.

Love Together, Parent Together: A Protocol for a Pilot Study of an Intervention for Interparental Couples With Young Children

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a population-level threat to social relationships that requires a population-level solution. Among those who are particularly vulnerable to heightened conflict are interparental couples with young children, whose relationships may have already been under pressure prior to the pandemic. Reduced couples' satisfaction has been reported since the start of the pandemic, with over one-third of romantic partners reporting heightened conflict due to COVID-19. Couples are likely to stay in disharmonious relationships during times of socioeconomic upheaval, with the potential for relationship problems to persist over time. This may have serious implications for the mental health of parents, parent-child relationships, and children's emotional and behavioural problems (EBPs). Such a pattern is a societal concern given the known associations between couples' relationship quality and a number of critical indicators of population health, such as intimate partner violence, physical health and all-cause mortality, and economic instability, particularly for women. The current study protocol is for a pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) of the Love Together Parent Together (L2P2) program-a brief, low-intensity, scalable relationship intervention for parents of young children. The two-arm (treatment vs. waitlist) pilot RCT will assess the feasibility goals: continued relationship-building with established recruitment partners and outreach to additional recruitment partners to increase enrolment rates; recruitment of a diverse sample in terms of sociocultural identity factors, pandemic-related stress, and relationship distress; acceptability of randomization; outcome assessment schedule completion (for treatment and control groups), retention and adherence to the program; and program acceptability. Additionally, the investigators will conduct a preliminary evaluation of treatment effects by examining group differences in couples-focused (i.e., couples' relationship, conflict-related negativity, interparental functioning) and family-focused outcomes (i.e., parent-child relations, parent mental health and child outcomes). A scalable couples-focused intervention is critically needed to circumvent the social consequences of the pandemic on young families.

Long-term clinical results of two methods of surgical treatment (spinal decompression with or without fusion) in patients with single-level lumbar stenosis will be compared. A clear framework for surgical treatment methods and standardized postoperative rehabilitation treatment will be set to obtain the maximum homogeneity of the patient groups. This trial should provide the first level of evidence for the need for spinal fusion in patients with single-level lumbar stenosis, subject to the high homogeneous comparison groups. Additional results will allow comparing the economic aspects of different surgical treatments for 2 years after surgery.
