The investigators will combine state-of-the-art quantitative imaging, on-field biomechanics, and computational analytics into the largest-of-its-kind study to assess hamstring strain injury (HSI) risk and recovery in elite collegiate football players. The study will take place over 3 years and enroll up to 560 student athletes from Division I (D1) teams: University of Wisconsin-Madison, Brigham Young University and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Lung Function in Post-COVID-19 Nursing Home Residents

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) took a toll in institutionalised older adults, who represent a vulnerable population in European countries. The aim of this study is to identify the predictive factors that worsens lung function in post-COVID nursing home (NH) residents. This is a multicenter case-control study in nursing homes of Osona (Catalonia), where individuals with worsened (cases) and normal (controls) lung function will be studied. The inclusion criteria are: female and male from 65 to 95 years old, preserved cognitive capacity and positive diagnosis of COVID-19 at least 3 months prior. We will assess sociodemographic variables, lung function [spirometry], fatigue [Chalder Fatigue Scale], frailty [Clinical Frailty Scale], and activities of daily living (ADL) [modified Barthel index].

Skin cancer screening may help find melanoma sooner, when it may be easier to treat. If found early melanoma and other types of skin cancer may be curable. Multi-component education may be an effective method to help primary care physicians (PCPs) learn about skin cancer screening. This clinical trial examines whether a clinician-focused educational intervention can improve PCP's knowledge and clinical performance to identify and triage skin cancer. This intervention may increase the PCP's ability to diagnose, treat and/or triage early-stage melanoma.

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate how effective the FAMS-T1D intervention is for improving self-regulation (e.g., setting and meeting goals for type 1 diabetes) and social support for meeting those goals for young adults. The main questions that are examined include 1) whether the intervention improves blood glucose, self-management and diabetes distress across time, 2) whether these improvements occur through better self-regulation and social-regulation, 3) whether the intervention improves outcomes for support persons (a friend or family member invited to participate by the person with diabetes) without increasing support burden and 4) whether the intervention improves for persons with diabetes who are on continuous blood glucose monitor their time in range.

Telemonitoring for IBD Goodness Examination in Russia

This is a prospective, randomized study to assess the impact of telemedicine (telemonitoring, tele-education and tele-consultation) on the patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The main study objective is to evaluate the impact of telemedicine on the quality of life in IBD. The secondary study endpoints are to determine disease activity, the number of IBD relapses, to investigate rate of leukopenia in patients taking azathioprine, to determine medication adherence, psychological well-being and satisfaction with medical care in the telemedicine group in comparison with the face-to-face follow-up group. Moreover, we aim to evaluate association between secondary outcomes and QoL. It is planned to enroll 64 patients. The study duration is 18 months (12 months - patient enrollment, 6 months - telemonitoring). The study consists of 3 stages. The first stage is selection of patients with IBD after treatment in the gastroenterology department. The second stage is face-to-face appointment and general recommendations (for the observation group); monthly completion of questionnaires on the web-platform, possibility to contact with doctor via chat or phone call, access to educational information; a monthly phone call to each patient from to answer any questions or concerns they may have and to interview them according to the checklist (for the intervention group). The third stage is the evaluation of IBD activity (re-hospitalization after 6 months), number of IBD relapses, quality of life, frequency of leukopenia in patients receiving azathioprine therapy, medication adherence, psychological well-being and satisfaction with medical care.

SHADES Mechanistic Trial

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is common, deadly, and costly, and adults with insomnia represent a large group of people at elevated risk of developing CVD in the future. This clinical trial will determine if our updated insomnia treatment, called the SHADES intervention, improves CVD factors thought to explain how insomnia promotes CVD and if these improvements are due to positive changes in sleep factors. A total of 200 primary care patients with insomnia and CVD risk factors will be randomized to 6 months of the SHADES intervention (internet, telephonic, and/or face-to-face cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia) or the active control condition (sleep education/hygiene, symptom monitoring, and primary care for insomnia). Before and after treatment, participants will complete measurements of the CVD factors (systemic inflammation, autonomic dysfunction, metabolic dysregulation, proinflammatory gene expression) and the sleep factors (insomnia symptoms, sleep onset latency, wake after sleep onset, sleep efficiency). Researchers will test whether the SHADES intervention produces greater improvements in the CVD factors than the active control condition.
