Effect of a Flexibility Program on the Extensibility of the Hamstrings and the Thoracic and Lumbar Spinal Curvatures

The goal of this clinical trial is to analyse the effect of an intervention program based on hamstring flexibility on the extensibility and curvatures of the spine in dancers. Participants will be dance student with ten years of experience that will undergo a program of stretching four times per week during seven weeks, followed by a detraining period, and a retraining period of three weeks. There will be a pre-test, a post-test and two re-tests after the intervention. The results will be compared with a control group of dancers that will not take part in the stretching program.

They will be randomly assigned to one of two 6-week hamstring strengthening programs, namely the single leg bridge exercise and the Nordic hamstring exercise protocol, and one control group. The goal of this randomized clinical trial is to check the effectiveness of post isometric relaxation and post facilitation stretching on hamstring muscle flexibility in collegiate athletes. The main question it aims to answer is: - To compare the post isometric relaxation and post facilitation stretching techniques on hamstring muscle flexibility in collegiate athletes Participants were divided in two groups, - Group-A was treated with baseline treatment of heating for 15min and rehab protocol post isometric relaxation in which 3-5 repetitions for 7-10 seconds hold in each session for three sessions per week in alternate days for four weeks. - Group-B was treated with baseline treatment of heating for 15min and rehab protocol post facilitation in which 3-5 repetitions for 7-10 seconds hold in each session for three sessions per week in alternate days for four weeks.

Immediate Effects of Hamstring Stretching Alone or Combined With Myofascial Release

To assess the immediate effects of hamstring stretching alone or combined with myofascial release of the hamstring muscle on masseter muscle activity, pressure pain threshold, active mouth opening, hamstring flexibility, and forward head flexed posture in recreationally active participants. The young, healthy, recreationally active adults aged 18-25 years were included in the study. The participants were randomly separated into two groups of equal number. Static stretching alone was applied to one group and this was combined with myofascial release techniques (SSMR) for the other group. Masseter muscle activity was assessed using a NORAXON® surface electromyography device. Both pre-and post-intervention, mechanical pressure algometer was used to measure the pressure pain threshold, hamstring flexibility was evaluated using the maximum hip flexion and active knee extension test, the maximum mouth opening (MMO) was measured with the millimetric ruler, and forward flexed posture was evaluated using the tragus to wall distance test.
