Influence of Reward and Punishment on Goal-directed and Habit Learning in Adolescent Anorexia Nervosa

The proposed study of adolescents with anorexia nervosa (AN) will examine the association of behavioral differences in constructs of decision making, brain structure and connectivity, and eating disorder (ED) symptoms. This study tests the novel hypothesis that goal-directed and habit learning for reward and punishment is altered in AN and is uniquely associated with divergent symptoms and differences in corticostriatal connectivity and microstructural integrity. We will recruit 78 females currently ill with AN and 26 controls ages 13-17 to investigate how goal-directed and habit learning for reward and punishment correspond to 1) clinical symptoms collected via interviews, self-report assessments, and ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and 2) brain structure and connectivity in the resting state. Data collection will rely on a technology called functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

Probiotics in Newly Diagnosed T1D

The investigators aim to further the understanding of environmental factors that underlie the development of Type 1 diabetes (T1D) and the post-onset disease trajectory. Dysbiosis, defined as alterations in intestinal microbiota composition and function, has been hypothesized to increase the risk of developing T1D in those with genetic susceptibility. Dysbiosis may result from modern dietary habits, such as broad consumption of the highly processed Western Diet, or by widespread use of antibiotics. Here, the investigators propose to examine the impact of dysbiosis on the endogenous innate inflammatory state that potentiates T1D progression. The investigators hypothesize that probiotic-induced alterations in the intestinal microbiota may favorably alter the post-onset disease state.

Neoadjuvant Therapy of Abiraterone Plus ADT for High Risk Prostate Cancer

High risk prostate cancer (PCa) had worse outcomes on radical treatment results, short-time oncological results, even cancer-specific survival, than those low or mediate risk PCa. Neoadjuvant treatment before radical prostatectomy had been proven to get some benefits on peri-operation results, especially on reduction of tumor volume and minimization of biochemical recurrence. This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) with abiraterone in neoadjuvant therapy for surgically resectable high-risk or very high-risk PCa.

The goal of this clínical trial is to compare in patients needing extraction of anterior teeth the effects of leukocyte-and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) for alveolar ridge preservation versus spontaneous healing. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Does L-PRF use as alveolar ridge preservation material diminish volumetric changes in the alveolar ridge produced after tooth extraction and further bone regeneration needs? - Does it have any advantage for wound healing and patient-related outcomes? Participants will undergo - Tooth extraction - Alveolar ridge preservation/ spontaneous healing - Implant placement Researchers will compare alveolar ridge preservation with L-PRF with spontaneous healing to see if there is an effect on reducing ridge dimensional changes happening after tooth extraction.

This goal of this study is to determine whether a novel biologic, i.e., an "amniotic suspension allograft" (ASA) will reduce pain and improve quality of life (QoL) in women stricken with chronic pelvic pain (CPP). The main questions it aims to answer are: - Weather pain in the genitalia is reduced with treatment - Weather bladder or urination pain is reduced with treatment - Weather any adverse events occur following treatment Patient responses to pain and QoL will be collected before and 6-12 months after treatment.
