Can we Use Resting-state fMRI and CSD Fiber Tractography for Presurgical Mapping?

This prospective study aims to investigate and validate the use of resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) and high angular resolution diffusion imaging (HARDI), specifically constrained spherical deconvolution (CSD) tractography, for functional and structural brain mapping prior to neurosurgery. The goal is to assess the feasibility of replacing task-based fMRI (tb-fMRI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) with fiber tractography (FT) using the fiber assignment by continuous tracking (FACT) algorithm. The study focuses on mapping sensory-motor, language, visual, and higher cognitive functional and structural networks in patients with brain pathology suitable for surgical intervention. The objective is to improve neurosurgical planning, navigation, and risk assessment through the utilization of rs-fMRI and CSD tractography.

EMERGENCE AGITATION After Premedication IN PAEDIATRIC MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING: A RETROSPECTIVE COHORT STUDY

The aim of this study was to assess the anxiolytic and sedative effect of OZALIN® / OZASED® (ADV6209) 0,25mg/Kg in children undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) under inhalational anesthesia. Our hypothesis is that compared to children who do not receive any premedication, palatability of OZALIN® / OZASED® by allowing an easier acceptance of the drug, improves the quality of anesthesia induction and postoperative behavioral outcome improving sedation and reducing the need for inhalation anesthetic which has been recognized as the main cause of post-procedural behavioral changes, including emergence agitation.

A Precision Rehabilitation Approach to Counteract Age-Related Cognitive Declines

This study examines the behavioral, molecular, and structural biomarkers of brain health that will allow for the stratification of individuals according to their "cognitive signature" and function. This study will randomize older adults into one of four interventions for a period of 12 months: 1) Aerobic Exercise, 2) Resistance Exercise, 3) Yoga Exercise, 4) Health Education (involves stretching and range of motion activities). This aims of this study will examine whether and how these different types of training interventions exert effects cognitive function, brain structure, biomarkers of brain health and cognition, and physical function.

Readmissions increasingly serve as a metric of hospital performance, inviting quality improvement initiatives in both medicine and surgery. Recently, a readmission reduction program in the United States was associated with significantly shorter length of stay, earlier discharge, and reduced 30-day readmission after elective neurosurgery. These results underscore the importance of patient education and surveillance after hospital discharge, and it would be beneficial to test whether the same approach yields beneficial results in a different health system, the NHS. In this study, the investigators will replicate the Transitional Care Program (TCP) published by Robertson et al.(Journal of Neurosurgery 2017) with the goal of decreasing length of stay, improving discharge efficiency, and reducing readmissions in neurosurgical patients by optimizing patient education and post-discharge surveillance.
