Screening and Intervention Reducing Anxiety in Patients With Implanted Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD)

Start date: May 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The hypothesis is that there is a significant difference in anxiety scores between intervention and usual care group after intervention. The aim of this randomised trial is (I) to determine the type of anxiety in ICD patients and (ii) to investigate the effect of screening followed by randomisation to intervention with consultations based on cognitive therapeutic principals to reduce anxiety in patients with ICD or usual care.

NCT ID: NCT02708472 Withdrawn - Clinical trials for Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

Safety and Efficacy of Synchronized Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for the Treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Start date: April 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This clinical trial is an investigator-initiated open label study designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of sTMS in subjects with Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

NCT ID: NCT02705261 Active, not recruiting - Anxiety Disorders Clinical Trials

Coaching for Confidence: Evaluating an Internet-based Program to Help Parents Help Children With Difficulty With Anxiety

Start date: March 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study is an open trial to evaluate a web-based intervention. The intervention focuses on supporting parents to help their children to overcome problems with anxiety. The children who are the focus of the study are in the age ranges of 4 - 12 and experience problems with separation anxiety, social anxiety, or generalized anxiety as identified by their parents. The program will exclude obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder that are seen less often in this age group and require somewhat different interventions.

NCT ID: NCT02704442 Recruiting - Anxiety Clinical Trials

Does Anxiety in Children on the Day of Surgery Impact Compliance in the Ophthalmology Clinic?

Start date: February 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The hypothesis is that pediatric patients with increased levels of anxiety on the day of surgery, in particular at point of anesthetic induction, will demonstrate decreased compliance with assessment in ophthalmology clinic postoperatively.

NCT ID: NCT02690597 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Validation and Pertinence of Anxiety Analogic Visual Scale in Pain Management

ANXYDOL
Start date: February 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Screening of anxiogenic part of pain is an imperative during a medical pain consultation. The actual tools for evaluation of this specific part are complex and time consuming. To date, it lacked a reliable and reproductive tool to quickly evaluate anxiety of patient in pain. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the pertinence and validity of anxiety analogic visual scale by comparison with the actual reference the self-assessment questionnaire State Trait Inventory Anxiety Y-A form.

NCT ID: NCT02690441 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Physical Exercise Augmented CBT for GAD

PEXACOG
Start date: March 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) is a severe and debilitating anxiety disorder that is highly prevalent among older adults. Anxiety and GAD is a well-documented risk factor for the development of other severe conditions such as depression and dementia, and effective treatments are called for. However, recommended treatment for GAD has consistently been found to yield blunted response rates for older adults compared to younger patients. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of exercise-augmented cognitive behaviour therapy for older adults with GAD. Exercise augmented CBT is expected to yield better results than standard CBT in terms of greater reduction of symptoms and increased rates of remission. The investigators will also investigate the effects of treatment on biological, physiological and neuropsychological measures.

NCT ID: NCT02687243 Recruiting - Anxiety Clinical Trials

StoryTelling Medicine Application Using a Virtual Reality Intervention

STM
Start date: November 20, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Preoperative anxiety (PA) affects up to 5 million children in North America each year and is associated with adverse medical, psychological, and behavioral effects. Children who are highly anxious often require more medications during surgical procedures and take longer to recover. While many attempts have been made to reduce PA in children, existing interventions are limited by their expense and time intensive nature. Thus, the current lack of effective and efficient methods of reducing anxiety in children before and after surgery has prompted us to develop and propose to test a new intervention. The investigators have developed a novel, interactive tablet based Virtual Reality program, StoryTelling Medicine (STM), to help reduce anxiety in children undergoing elective surgery, and its associated negative effects. STM is an age appropriate, customizable program to prepare children for complex surgical procedures by guiding them through the hospital settings. The investigators will examine if STM is effective in reducing PA and its adverse effects in children undergoing surgery. If effective, STM has the potential to improve children's and families' surgical experiences, and reduce health problems in the hospital setting and beyond.

NCT ID: NCT02686333 Completed - Depression Clinical Trials

Meditation for Depression and Anxiety Symptoms in Dialysis Patients
