Filter by:The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of a 10 week mindfulness training program -- without therapist-support -- as treatment of anxiety. Effects on depression, quality of life, and insomnia symptoms will also be studied.
The main interest in this study is to investigate if it is possible to use strategies from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to increase effectiveness of ordinary Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for patients with anxiety disorders. Seniors who receive supportive services face a variety of psychosocial vulnerabilities that put them at risk for depression. One group with very high risk is older adults receiving aging services through Medicaid waiver programs. This 3-year research uses a randomized controlled clinical trial to assess the effectiveness of brief behavioral therapies (problem solving therapy [PST] and Brief Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia [BBTI]) to prevent depression in seniors receiving aging services.
The main objective of this study is to compare the degree of maternal anxiety at Day 3 postpartum in mothers who did or did not have access to a video communication system (BB-Box system) from the time of initial separation with their baby.

This randomized clinical trial studies healing touch or guided imagery in treating pain, fatigue, nausea, and anxiety in patients undergoing chemotherapy. Healing touch and guided imagery may help treat complications caused by chemotherapy. The purpose of this project is to develop and evaluate Internet-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT) for Parkinson's Disease (PD) patients with concurrent depression or anxiety symptoms. All treatment in this project is given as an adjunct to Standard Medical Treatment (SMT). ICBT will be compared to an Internet-based active control treatment (ICONTROL) and to SMT alone. It is hypothesized that both active treatments will be superior to SMT, and that ICBT will be superior to ICONTROL, in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
