Administering a Parent-based Pilot Intervention for Reducing Anxiety in Children With ASD and Anxiety

We are implementing the SPACE program, an evidence-based protocol that has been proven to be efficent in childhood anxiety disorders and OCD (Lebowitz, 2013; Lebowitz, Omer, Hermes & Scahill, 2014), in a new population of children with ASD and anxiety. The intervention aims to reduce family accommodation of the child's anxiety symptoms. The program contains 12 weekly 1-hour sessions with the parents. We will examine the impact of the intervention on family accommodation, ASD and anxiety symptomology, as well as parent and child satisfaction from the intervention, using the attached measures.

Implementation, Efficacy and Costs of Inpatient Equivalent Home-Treatment in German Mental Health Care

The "inpatient-equivalent home treatment"(IEHT) according to §115d SGB-V is a particular version of the internationally well-known and evidence-based Home Treatment. As a complex intervention, IEHT requires a multi-method evaluation on different levels in the German context. The AKtiV study that is financed by the Innovation Fund of the Federal Joint Committee (proposal ID: VSF2_2019-108) meets this request. In this quasi-experimental study with a propensity score-matched control group, we assess and combine quantitative and qualitative data. Outcome parameters include classical clinical ones such as hospital readmission rates, mental state, and recovery outcomes. In addition, it evaluates issues concerning the right target population, treatment processes, implementation strategies, and factors associated with positive outcomes. The study takes into account the perspective of patients, relatives, staff as well as decision makers in politics and administration. Therefore, we expect the results to be relevant for a broad audience and to contribute to further refinement and adaption of the model.

This study evaluates the association between testosterone levels and risk of dementia and adverse mental health outcomes (e.g. depression and anxiety). It is not known whether low testosterone levels may be associated with an increased risk of dementia. Learning about the association between testosterone levels and risk of dementia may help determine the long-term effects of androgen deprivation therapy and may help improve quality of life.

Effect of Progressive Relaxation Exercise on Physiological Parameters, Pain, Anxiety in Colorectal Cancer Surgery

This research was carried out as an pre-test/post-test control group experimental design study in order to determine the effect of progressive relaxation exercises on the level of vital sign, pain and anxiety underwent who laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer in patients. This research data was collected between March 2018 and May 2019. The research was carried out with 63 patients (experiment group= 31, control group= 32) who underwent elective laparoscopic colorectal surgery in a general surgery clinic of a university hospital in Istanbul and in accordance with the research criteria. Patients in the experiment group were taught breathing exercises in the preoperative period and on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd day after surgery then, progressive relaxation exercise that lasted 15 minutes was applied to the group. Pain (Short McGill Pain Scale) and anxiety (STAI-S Scale) levels of both groups were evaluated in the preoperative and postoperative period. The patient's vital signs, oxygen saturation and serum cortisol level parameters were measured in the same time interval before and after the relaxation exercise. Significance was evaluated at p <0.05 and p<0,001 levels in the analysis of the data. Prior to the study, the consent of the institution and ethics committee, written and verbal patient consent were obtained.
