Filter by:A double-blinded, randomised, placebo-controlled trial of semaglutide 3.0 mg/ml in patients with poor weight-loss following bariatric surgery. The primary aim of this trial is to determine whether, and the extent to which, 68 weeks of subcutaneous semaglutide 3.0 mg/ml causes greater percentage weight loss (%WL), reduction in adiposity, improvement in metabolic and inflammatory indices and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) than placebo, in patients with poor weight loss following gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy.
The objectives of this study are to assess the initial safety and device functionality of the SFM Anastomosis System including delivery systems when used to create a dual-path duodenal-ileal (D-I) diversion either during sleeve gastrectomy (i.e., SNAP-S procedure) or patients with prior sleeve gastrectomy who experience inadequate weight loss (i.e., SNAP-PS procedure). Additionally, the study is designed to evaluate the potential of the SNAP-S/SNAP-PS procedures to induce weight loss and to improve metabolic comorbidities in obese subjects.
The purpose of this research study is to compare the effectiveness of a fully automated digital diabetes prevention program to standard of care human coach-based diabetes prevention programs for promoting clinically meaningful lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes in adults with prediabetes.
This clinical trial evaluates the use of an Episodic Future thinking Intervention to promote weight loss in breast cancer survivors. Obesity is associated with multiple negative health sequelae in breast cancer survivors. This includes an increased risk of cancer recurrence and mortality, multiple quality of life issues, and increased risk of co-morbidities. Delay Discounting is a behavioral health economic target that refers to the "discounting" of a larger benefit in the future for a smaller, more immediate reward in the present. A high delay discounting rate is correlated with poor dietary choices and sedentary lifestyle. Episodic Future Thinking (EFT) simulates positive events that may occur in one's future, engaging the science of prospection. EFT decreases delay discounting rate, resulting in healthier diet choices and weight reduction. However, valuation of the future may impact cancer survivors differently due to adjusted mortality perception and cancer-related stress. This study will determine the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of remotely delivered (smartphone application) EFT as a behavioral intervention for weight loss in breast cancer survivors. Implementation of EFT as a complementary approach to standard lifestyle interventions could lead to improvement in weight loss, food choice, and quality of life, thereby positively impacting overall health and longevity in cancer survivors.
This is a single-arm longitudinal group to examine patient-reported outcomes, body mass and mammographic density changes pre- and post- weight loss intervention of breast cancer survivors using video conferencing telehealth visits.
This study evaluates the associations between baseline decision-making processes, engagement in problematic dietary practices, and post-intervention weight loss outcomes among adolescents. Results from the study will provide specific direction for what components should comprise future decision-making interventions for adolescents with overweight/obesity.
The goals of the study are to use the Noom mobile app to help individuals with weight loss and weight loss maintenance. This project will test the comparative efficacy of Noom Health vs. Noom Digital Health for weight loss, quality of life, psychosocial functioning, and self-reported health status. It is expected that use of Noom Health will show post-intervention success relative to Noom Digital Health as well as long-term success with weight loss maintenance. Data is expected to show that participants who are older, have less support, have more health conditions, and with more psychosocial problems will benefit more from Noom Health. It is also expected that confidence in the ability to lose weight will produce more successful results in Noom Health vs. Noom Digital Health.
This is a pilot study evaluating an online cardiometabolic and weight loss program which is offered by The Wellness Institute. The program is 16 weeks and is developed by a multidisciplinary team and delivered by a degreed health professional (health coach) to assist participants in achieving their personal wellness goals. This study will also investigate the impact of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) on participants lifestyles and access to lifestyle programs and supports.
This study involves an evaluation of whether providing small incentives weekly for dietary self-monitoring and/or weight loss improves short- and long-term weight loss. Participants can expect to be on study for 18 months.
This lifestyle behavior intervention aims to weight loss in low-income overweight or obese mothers of young children through promotion of stress management, healthy eating, and physical activity. All eligible women will be assigned to the intervention group. The intervention will last 3 weeks and will be delivered via weekly web and individual health coaching sessions.
