NCT ID: NCT04583748 Withdrawn - Depression Clinical Trials

Virtual Health Education vs Meditation in Irreversible Age-Related Vision Loss Patients and Their Caregivers

Start date: April 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Vision loss is common among older adults and leads to an increased risk for depression and difficulties in daily tasks, thus requiring dependence on caregivers. This study will assess the feasibility of providing two virtual interventions, Sahaj Samadhi Meditation (SSM) and Health Enhancement Program (HEP), to supplement care of patients with irreversible age-related vision loss (IARVL) and their caregivers, with the goal of enhancing mental health and quality of life.

NCT ID: NCT04226729 Recruiting - Healthy Clinical Trials

Associations Between Vision and Brain Function

Start date: January 25, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Case-control studies and meta-analysis have reported that several ocular features, especially the thickness of the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer and visual acuity, are related to the brain degeneration and cognitive impairment. In our study, we aim to quantitatively assess ocular features using structural and functional indicators and define its associations with brain development and intelligence in children.

The Influence of Prone Position for Spinal Surgery on Visual Acuity

Start date: November 28, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study investigated the effect of desflurane and propofol anesthesia on visual acuity in patients in prone position for spinal surgery. Many trials have investigated the effects of different anesthetic agents on intraocular pressure, propofol may reduce intraocular pressure more than other intravenous anesthetics.
