Filter by:The primary objective in this cross-sectional study is to assess the prevalence of post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) in the two treatment arms of the RE-COVER studies (warfarin versus dabigatran). PTS will be assessed by the recently developed Patient Reported Villalta (PRV) Score. Secondary objectives: to assess in both treatment arms the 1. Prevalence of recurrent venous thromboembolism (VTE) after the discontinuation of study treatment. 2. Prevalence of PTS determined by the standard Villalta score. 3. Health related Quality of Life (HRQoL).
The aim of the study is to evaluate efficacy and safety of venous thromboembolism prophylaxis by the combination of graduated compression stockings (GCS), standard doses of low-molecular-weight heparins (LMWH) and sequential compression device (SCD) in the mixed group of surgical patients at high and extremely high risk for venous thromboembolism.
This is a Clinical Trial on the use of Point Of Care Ultrasound for the diagnosis of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and its effect on length of hospital stay. 25 participants with suspicion of DVT according to Wells Criteria were randomized to one of two groups: Point of Care Ultrasound and Echo Doppler Ultrasound (POCUS + EDUS), and the control group was submitted only to the Echo Doppler Ultrasound (EDUS). The primary outcome was hospital stay.
Cerebral hypoperfusion and hypoxia are the major determinants of neurological outcomes following acute brain injury as proved in Traumatic Brain Injury/Sub Arachnoid Haemhorrhage literature. How the brain injury affects cerebral oxygenation in patients with CVT is not currently known. Some of the factors that can affect cerebral oxygenation in patients with CVT are Hemoglobin, PO2, PCO2, Cerebral Perfusion Pressure (or MAP) and change in Intracranial Pressure after Decompressive Craniectomy. This study is designed to study how these factors affect cerebral oxygenation and impact of Decompressive Craniectomy on the cerebral oxygenation.
The use of coumarins has been a challenge for doctors because of its narrow therapeutic range and they show great inter and intra-individual variability in the dose necessary to achieve an international normalized ratio (INR) within the therapeutic range. Among the factors influencing the interindividual variability in the dose required include age, weight, Vitamin K in the diet, comorbidity as well as drug interactions and in recent years has also seen the importance of pharmacogenetic factors.
The purpose of this study is to determine if fixed dose heparin infusions at a rate of 500 units/hour are sufficient to maintain a target anti-Xa of 0.1-0.35 IU/mL for venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis in patients undergoing microvascular surgery. Additionally, a pilot protocol has been developed to titrate these heparin infusions to ensure patients have sufficient VTE prophylaxis. All patients will be enrolled in the observational arm of the study and receive anti-Xa level monitoring. Patients with out-of-range anti-Xa levels will cross over to the interventional arm of the study and receive real time heparin infusion dose adjustments per the pilot protocol. The primary outcome measured will be the percentage of patients with anti-Xa levels in the target range of 0.1-0.35 IU/mL while on a heparin infusion at 500 units/hour.
To evaluate the benefits of Ayurvedic SUVED & REIMMUGEN Colostrum for reduction/reversal of symptoms and study clinical progress in Vascular disease; CAD, CAV, Stroke, DVT patients.
The purpose is to determine the hypercoagulable phenotype by thrombinography associated to an increased risk of symptomatic and objectively confirmed first venous thrombotic event. This is a case-control study in a population with patients having systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and/or antiphospholipid antibodies (APL). Secondary purposes are: 1. To determine the frequency of hypercoagulable phenotype in study population; 2. To analyze the sensibility: consequences of variation of hypercoagulable phenotype threshold on the importance of risk; 3. To identify (genetic and not) factors for hypercoagulable phenotype and their frequency in different groups.
In this open-label, prospective, randomized pilot study, patients who develop atrial fibrillation after isolated coronary artery bypass grafting surgery will be identified. Patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (>12 hours) or recurrent sustained atrial fibrillation (>2 episodes of atrial fibrillation lasting longer than 30 minutes) will be candidates for inclusion. Upon meeting study inclusion and exclusion criteria, and after informed consent, patients will be randomized to either the standard of care (warfarin per protocol) or apixaban arms of the trial. Routine postoperative care after CABG will occur in both groups. Upon discharge, anticoagulation in both groups will be managed by the anticoagulation clinic. Patients will be followed for 30 days after surgery.
Prospective, single-arm, multicentre, international Registry of the Surfacer System for the treatment of patients with limited or diminishing upper body venous access or pathology impeding standard access methods. The purpose of this post-market Registry is to assess the standard of care and clinical outcomes of the Surfacer System used in clinical routine according to the approved commercial indications.
