Filter by:In current practice, there are various nutritional risk scores and diagnostic tools which are used in both inpatient and outpatient settings, however, in some cases, these tools cannot be used due to lack of data. That's why a tool that doesn't require any anthropometric parameters, such as a visual food intake scale, could be useful to for medical and paramedical staff. In this way, a larger proportion of the paediatric population could benefit from nutritional screening.
The goal of this cluster randomized controlled trial is to determine the effect of double duty interventions on double burden of malnutrition, dietary diversity score, and frequency of morbidity among secondary school adolescents in Debre Berhan City, Ethiopia. The main aim is to answer the following questions. 1. What is the effect of double duty interventions on double burden of malnutrition among secondary school adolescents? 2. What is the effect of double duty interventions on dietary diversity score among secondary school adolescents? 3. What is the effect of double duty interventions on among secondary school adolescents?
Evaluating the efficiency of using the nutrient production toward nutrition status (anthropometric index, the prevalence of wasting), digestive disorders, anorexia, and upper respiratory infections in children aged 24 - 71 months.
The randomized controlled trial design with one intervention arm (nutrition education and complementary feeding) and one control (usual care) arm (1:1 ratio). Randomization of each participant to the groups will be carried out using Random Allocation Software 1.0 (https://random-allocation-oftware.software.informer.com/1.0/) to intervention or control groups in a 1:1 ratio. The sample size to be recruited is 80 participants.
This study aims to assess the digestibility and efficacy of the study groups previously developed innovative plant-based protein and fibre products.
The objective of this study was to assess the effect of oral nutritional supplementation (ONS) combined with bioelectrical vector analysis (BIVA) on the nutritional and hydration status and the quality of life (QoL) in hemodialysis (HD) patients. Design and Methods: Thirty-two chronic HD patients were included in a 6-month randomized pilot study. Patients in SUPL group received a simultaneous intervention consisting of a personalized diet, 245 mL/d ONS and dry weight adjustment through BIVA. Patients in CON group received a personalized diet and dry weight adjustment by BIVA. Anthropometrical, biochemical, dietary, QoL, handgrip strength (HGS) and bioimpedance measurements were performed. Malnutrition Inflammation Score (MIS) was applied.
This prospective, randomized, controlled study will evaluate the effects of oral nutritional supplementation plus dietary counseling versus dietary counseling alone in children at nutritional risk.
This is a pilot study of children attending the Glasgow feeding clinic (GFC) which looks after children with severe feeding problems who commonly have low appetite and extreme thinness. The investigators want to find out if thin children respond to food in the same way, using an established method to assess energy compensation.
This is a pilot study of children attending the Glasgow feeding clinic (GFC) which looks after a range of children with severe feeding problems who commonly have low appetite and extreme thinness. The investigators want to find out if these children are more likely to carry genetic markers of thinness.
Africa faces rapid urbanization, has the second highest population growth rate, makes up one-fifth of the world's youth population, and experiences stagnant rates of undernutrition. These challenges point to the need for country-specific data on rural-urban health disparities to inform development policies. This cross-sectional study examined disparities in body mass index-for-age-and-sex (BAZ) and height-for-age-and-sex z-scores (HAZ) among 1125 adolescents in Tanzania. Rural-urban disparities in nutritional status were significant and gendered. Findings confirm place of residence as a key determinant of BAZ, HAZ, and stunting among adolescents in Tanzania. Targeted gender-sensitive interventions among adolescents, particularly in rural areas, are needed to limit growth faltering and improve health outcomes.
