NCT ID: NCT06248983 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Respiratory Tract Infections

Transmission Of Respiratory Tract microOrganisms In a School Environment

TORTOISE
Start date: February 26, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Through contact with peers in daycare and (primary)school young children play a large role in spreading respiratory pathogens. In this study the investigators will investigate this transmission, the subsequent colonization and infection dynamics, and their association with clinical symptoms and local immune response through dense minimally-invasive sampling. This study will allow us a unique insight into the transmission-, infection-, and colonization-potential of the respiratory pathogens.

NCT ID: NCT05846061 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Helicobacter Pylori Infection

Epidemiology of Helicobacter Pylori Infection in Children From Slovenia

Start date: January 9, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The epidemiology of H. pylori infection among children in Slovenia has not been investigated. Therefore, we are conducting a study to examine the epidemiology of H. pylori and associated risk factors among children in Slovenia.

NCT ID: NCT05703659 Recruiting - Transmission Clinical Trials

Baby 2 Baby Beneficial Bacteria

Start date: March 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The investigators will recruit mother-infant dyads to attend weekly lactation support groups and randomize infants to receive either an HMO consuming or non-HMO consuming probiotic. The investigators will collect infant stool before and after support group attendance. The investigators will use qPCR and metagenomic sequencing to test if the study probiotics or other bacteria transmit between infants. The investigators anticipate HMO consuming bacteria will and non-HMO consuming bacteria will not transmit between infants.

NCT ID: NCT05171829 Enrolling by invitation - Clinical trials for Sars-CoV-2 Infection

An Educational Self-tracking Tool for Identification of SARS-CoV-2 Risk Transmission

TrackU
Start date: December 27, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

One way to empower a community, in epidemic control issues, is to know the first-hand screening tools. There are no evaluations of these home-use tools from the perspective of patient and citizen empowerment and participation. The main objective of this study is to analyze whether a self-tracking and self-tracing tool, developed in a participatory way, increases the risk identification of the disease and the empowerment in terms of risk management of transmission by the participants.

NCT ID: NCT04652648 Completed - Covid19 Clinical Trials

Rapid Development and Implementation of a Remote ECG-monitored Prospective Randomized Clinical Trial During a Pandemic: Hydroxychloroquine Prophylaxis in COVID-19 Household Contacts

Start date: May 27, 2020
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

- organizing an entirely no in-person contact clinical trial is feasible during a 22 COVID-19 pandemic 23 - Remote smartphone 6-lead ECG monitoring is possible even in a group unfamiliar 24 with the technology 25 - Hydroxychloroquine used prophylactically at 200 mg BID had no observable 26 cardiotoxicity 27 - Additional study using this technique is warranted to look at reliability and cost-28 effectiveness

NCT ID: NCT04369794 Completed - COVID-19 Clinical Trials

COVID-19: BCG As Therapeutic Vaccine, Transmission Limitation, and Immunoglobulin Enhancement

BATTLE
Start date: October 1, 2020
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

To date, there is no vaccine or treatment with proven efficiency against COVID-19, and the transmissibility of the SARS-CoV-2 virus can be inferred by its identification in the oro-nasopharynx. The bacillus Calmette Guérin (BCG) has the potential for cross-protection against viral infections. This study evaluates the impact of previous (priming effect, from the titer of anti-BCG interferon-gamma) or current BCG exposure (boost with intradermal vaccine) on 1) clinical evolution of COVID-19; 2) elimination of SARS-CoV-2 at different times and disease phenotypes; and 3) seroconversion rate and titration (anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgA, IgM, and IgG).

NCT ID: NCT03822156 Completed - Tuberculosis Clinical Trials

Clinical Analysis of the Patients With Cavitary Pulmonary TB and Endobronchial TB in the PPM-UUH Cohort

Start date: January 1, 2010
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

This study is a retrospective cohort study. The purpose of this study is to investigate clinical features of the patients with the cavitary pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and endobronchial TB from the patients who have been registered in this hospital for treatment and follow-up, as part of the "PPM Project (Private-Public Mix project) for Korean National Tuberculosis Control" introduced in Korea since 2007.

NCT ID: NCT03454048 Completed - Malaria,Falciparum Clinical Trials

Controlled Human Malaria Infection Model for Evaluation of Transmission-blocking Interventions - Study 2

CHMI-trans2
Start date: May 7, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a single-center, open label study. The primary aim of this project is to develop a controlled human malaria infection transmission model ("CHMI-trans") or "challenge model" to evaluate the capacity of vaccines, biologics (monoclonal antibodies, or mAbs), and drugs to block malaria parasite transmission by assessing infectiousness of Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) gametocyte carriers for Anopheles mosquitoes.

NCT ID: NCT02733796 Completed - Zika Virus Clinical Trials

Persistence of Zika Virus in Semen After Acute Infection

Start date: February 1, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is a prospective observational laboratory evaluation of the persistence rate of zika virus (ZIKV) infection in semen by real-time Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR), and assessment of ZIKV replication-competence in semen by isolation of ZIKV. Evaluation of the persistence of ZIKV and its replication-competence in semen samples will increase the understanding of the risk of sexual transmission of ZIKV infection in the post-viremic phase in non-epidemic settings.

NCT ID: NCT02044055 Completed - Hepatitis D Clinical Trials

Mother-to-child Hepatitis D Transmission

Start date: October 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

HBV can be transmitted from mother-to-child, with a risk increasing according to maternal HBV DNA during pregnancy. HDV is a defective virus using HBs Ag for its own replication. Nucleosides analogues have only a minor impact on quantitative HBs Ag level. Data about vertical HDV transmission are old, justifying a new study.
